  • Why does everyone say kayaking is so dangerous? There are methods to get back in the boat, and a sea kayak has double bulk heads for flotation. How is kayaking "very dangerous", or what can go wrong, for a paddler who is able to get back into a kayak that is able to float?

  • @swidd2 i was asking that too. kayaking is not that dangerous... whats dangerous is people not knowing how to get back in or making dumb desisions. EVERYONE can kayak but you HAVE to know your limits. (sea kayaks are VERY unstable too lol i have been on hybrids in the water and recreatinals but sea kayaks... i have to freakin push myself up once i am in it to get my feet inside...)

  • Nice ass!

  • I had training from both and they are excellent teachers. It is very nice of them to also post these very helpful videos. They are both great people to work with.

  • shi is pulling him up watch

  • @missones Watch it in full screen mode

  • haha wie hat er das wohl gemacht ? *lol*

    is doch easy

  • I actually found it helpful, especially the setting up and sweep without actually rolling. I finally was able to consistently roll today. I am sure technically it was less than graceful but I DID IT! :-)

  • To TechnoEngineer: His technique is sloppy because this is his first time. This was obvious to me and I am a rookie. It made me feel much more confident watching a rookie like me attempt to eskimo roll. I found this movie very helpful.

  • i like the idea of the woman holding the blade to help him up....

  • i kno i haven't found a decent vid yet :P

  • For years I read books and watched videos of how to roll but could never get it, I joined a club maybe 15 years ago and in the winter we pacticed in a pool and if I hadnt I would still be failing haha or dead

  • Really sloppy technique on show.

During the set-up, he should be able to almost kiss the surface, his hat should just be showing.

@0:58 - blade has too much angle, and top hand is too high (should be tucked up close to his shoulder).

@1:09 - he's using the momentum from dropping in

@1:35 - he's LIFTING HIS HEAD! (tucking it into the shoulder away from the water) - It's much easier is he dinks his head towards the water, or if he turns his body and head to face towards the water.

  • mostly true, the blade angle was to high but he did adjust it in the water before he completed the roll, just the momentum from dropping in would not be enough for him to come up, ive asked my friend to use the momentum when he does his hand roll and just the momentum completely failed! finallyu yes he is lifting his head slightly ! one thing you did miss is he had a very bad grip on the paddle and his wrist was positioned palms down which is more difficult! + he doesnt lean forward in his setup

  • how long can you hold him under

  • What make is his hat? it never comes off!

  • Indiana - Jones hat

  • thank for the joke, I thought it was weird too.

  • oh my god nsop

  • is that really as easy as it looks?

  • no i tried it twice today and i felt like i was dying, i had to eject twice

  • Yeah man it is simple! The hardest thing for people is just getting use to being upside down under water.. Once you are comfortable doing that...it is such a simple roll

  • Does any one know the brand / make of her outfit (green shirt and blue capris)? -Thanks

  • whats the kayak made of or just sayy the weight and the length or something

  • he didn't hipsnap
