Hair Metal sucks.....except for Motley Crue, the f***in rock. but a lot of good stuff did come out of the 80s. examples: Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Ozzy Osbourne (solo), and Megadeth. You could say Thrash stood up for punk since punk was a key element in creating it
