I already know "me" on how sick I get of jobs. If I'd been doing 16 - 18hr days for 10yrs to give folks something to b.... about that a few episodes weren't up to their specifications, I'd have a sense of tremendous relief, euphoria, etc., in having given it all I had to the last episode, but a certain part of me would have been running screaming, not letting the door hit me in the butt, if I'd just spent a third of my life on that schedule that he mentioned in an interview in an earlier season

What I'm about to explain, might be a little hard without spoiling.

But.. The suit in the finale DID have the yellow shield, on the back of the cape.

If you've watched some of the previous episodes, you'd know that in the little "flash-forwards" of him wearing the suit, the yellow shield is actually visible.

You might be wondering how they managed to get the yellow shield on the cape, but I'm not gonna tell you that, since it might come as a..... Whatever.

Just watch the Finale.

Yeah. It's a shame. It was mainly because Tom didn't want to wear the suit. Either because he didn't feel like he "deserved" to wear it, or because it wouldn't look good on him. It's kinda sad.

He's much larger built, than Brandon, so I'm not sure if it would've looked that good on him, either, though.

Still, the main thing is that Clark wore the suit.

When I asked if you were blind, I basically meant that you should go read my previous comments. Thought it would be self-explanatory. Guess not.

And what I meant with "Clark wearing the suit", was that Clark DID wear the suit. Tom might not have worn it, but the main thing is that Clark finally did become Superman, whether Tom wore the actual suit, or not.

Of course I knew it was all CGI, though. I'm just trying to be positive :)

@deathcube35 Tom didnt give himself enough credit...its sad that he felt that way because I feel that he would have been better than Routh (not saying Routh is bad, but hes a bit TOO uncanny for me). I would have liked to see an actual film with him as Superman. But we know that wont happen... :(

Well the series was still damn good, I would have liked to have seen 5 minutes of the suit but oh well. MANY hours but only a few frames of the superman we all know...in CGI..

Yeah. After 10 damn years, he could've at least worn the suit. When I look back at the scene from season 4, when Kal-El flies, I sometimes imagine how that would be, with Tom wearing the suit.

But I'm happy with the Finale, anyway. It was great.

@GTAfan421 Or he could just be sick of it. Dude's a couple years younger than me, which means he's spent a third of his life doing Smallville -- a whole third of his life! I know that's sacreligious to say that, but doesn't mean he'd turn down a Superman role in 3 to 8 years, once he's had a breather from the whole mythos.

They were offered the Christopher Reeve suit but they turned it down and took Brandon's instead. The old one simply doesn't fit the era. My opinion is that the hole Superman suit is a bit funny, but you know we've used to it so its great. I just have one problem and that's HOW ON EARTH is possible to spend ten seasons and not providing a proper intro to the suit. It just come to Martha to make the suit the way it is. Really?

@SWEP2AOTC2002 thts what i heard but it doesnt look like it. the symbol does but the material seems different and doesnt look like its made up of those s shield patterns. i dnt mind them using a similair design but taking the exact costume would suck. i hate the boots and them not using their own costume shows tht we aint even going to see him in it for long. probably like 2 seconds at the end. like tht scene from the first movie where reeves flies from the fortress. 10 years for tht.

I think that cape is different from the Return's Suit. Which I hope so because I always disliked the leather cape.

OK, I only just started watching Smallville again recently because I wanted to know how the heck they would explain why no one knows Clark is Superman when he's already been Superman for several years now (I just about gave up on the show after the Doomsday finale and only tuned in around the time of the IRA). So, I have a question. Do they explain exactly why Martha made that costume for him? Did she not like her son running around in black like a Neo wannabe?

They just used the Returns style suit because it's more realistic for a 2011 Superman I love STM but, that suit looks really dated now.

@FGP02: From the clips on YouTube I saw..They marry the two styles..The blue and red is in a darker tone like in Superman Returns..But like the STM version unlike the Superman Returns version the Superman symbol on the chest is bigger and there IS yellow version the back of the cape the was missing in the SR version,..,Just a shame the fan does not get to see a close up of Clark in the suit..Always at a distance or behind some thing..

@henkman00 no Smallville has nothing to do with Superman Returns or the Superman movies, they are only using the Superman Returns cuz it's the most 'modern' suit. they change a few things tho byy making the cape more red, and making the S bigger but again Smallville has no connection with any of the Superman movies

@CixXxCuzzo the cape was changed and so will be the boots but the S is the same size and actually there is a rumor going around that smallville might be the back story to the upcoming superman film, and it might be true since they are going to film in vancouver , same location as smallville , so maybe we will see a certain boy scout become the man of steel in the next film
