@guitarslim56 - erm, except that the flute definitely did exist. After all, he wrote 300 flute concertos. Quantz was in fact widely known as the finest flautist in Europe, and toured France and England. He became a flute teacher, flute maker and composer to Frederick II of Prussia.
@mosdef326 Yes, you're right the flute as musical instrument did exist of course, but the flute d e p i c t e d in this video did not exist in this form, as far as I know (one may teach me better). But Quantz improved the traverse flute by adding a second pad to the mechanics of the flute, so his concept was already a precursor of modern concert flutes.
