  • nope.

  • I think tthe original song gives power to the ad

  • How you slowed it down looks terrible

  • doesn't go in the slightest.

  • I prefer the other one, but very interesting experiment. Im a video editor and Im always driving myself crazy trying to choose the right music. Good work, very creative.

  • QUICK WAY TO PAINT UR HOUSE

  • I prefer the philharmonic version. No offense.

    Good version all the same.

  • nice... you should invest in twixtor

  • I prefer Rossini's version.

  • Tchaikovsky Overture fits 10000000 times better

  • Much Better. More depth of emotion and more subtle tempo. Lets you see better what's happening. Well done.

  • Agree up until the floor by floor tower explosion. That was pivotal for me in the first advert. Good job though

  • This song ruins all. The whole effect is gone. Makes it boring. You absolutly failed it. Nice try, but fail. This is no improvement. Sorry but you have no idea at all.

  • iron and wine doesn't work for this clip... maybe if it were the bouncy ball one.

  • what's that music? O.O

  • @Zsuzskada Iron and Wine - Such Great Heights

  • and this is what happens when you make skittles

  • better than nissan juke

  • "Well guys, we had to spend three billion dollars in damages for our last ad, lets hope we sell some fucking televisions."

    -Sony ad execs

  • This song ruins the ad.

  • @robertjvictor such as tossing paint al over your house :D

  • I prefer the Thieving Magpie one, but this is still awesome, well done

  • The original music is oh so obvious, this version adds a different dimension......it's a great choice!

  • What Sony did great in all their Bravia commercials is match music and video. I think the idea of putting this one to a different melody is pretty good, but you ought to chosen music better an maybe even took out some of the additional vidoe from "making of". But i'm glad that you still got the job :)

  • i didnt liked this music more than the one used in the original , the other track feels better

  • paint is takin over the world !

  • fake

  • @dumbotherat its not.. thats what people said about the balls commercial.. watch /watch?v=o1bEOtpqYpA and you will see that it wasn fake. watch this /watch?v=Gz0Zadr0_Kc&feature=related n you will se u were wrong..

  • who sing this song???

  • @xkasiulek1 the original is from Postal Service called such great heights. I hope this helps you.

  • @420marrijane420 thnx! ;-)

  • how do they make those paint fire work

    i mean its amazing

  • I liked it.

  • I get your point, but I don't feel the music fits at all. The commercial shows an explosion of colours, a spectacle. It is meant to be exciting, to make people go like 'WOW!' and not like 'ooh, now that's nice..'.

But like I said, I do get your point. Nice for you that you got the job too ;)

  • baby, this is beautiful...it's like a little piece of you...i am warm. (sloppy alan is still good alan :P)

  • @albatrizzle.

I hadn't visited this in years, it's nice to see it gets people...emotional.

To be fair: Yes, the blurb is massive BS. Yes, this is no remaster , it's just a sloppy music swap and some rough editing.

    But.

The reason I did this was for an application to the advertising agency that produced this ad.

They liked it and I got the job.

Then I got to work on some of the most awarded ads in the world for 2007/08.

You'll be glad to know, Jonathan Glazer wasn't offended.

  • @electrixoul

haha i can't even remember what i wrote but i think your video was the first and only time i commented on any youtube video with anger. then I quickly realised how many people do that and how annoying it is unleashing over nothing. that's great you got a job out of it - congrats. Im a filmmaker myself and in the process of making spec ads to pitch to companies also. Going well too :)

    cheers and good luck!

  • @electrixoul: Well if that is true, then congrats on the job. However, I think that the song is a little too downtempo, and the lyrics don't really jive in any way with the images. It took me awhile to realize that this is a cover of that Postal Service song, and that's cool because I like that song.

I would suggest that you watch your own video on mute while playing "Colours" by Donovan. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the unwitting results of your own editing...

  • @electrixoul Hi, I study advertising, and I'm just writing my tesis about how to use music in order to give more emotional power to the images, and mostly I'm concentrating on music used in contrast with the images and I think that your version of this spot is really great. I'm sorry for my lack of english vocabulary that prevent me from descriving my toguhts about your work in a more complete way.

Anyway, which agency are you working for?

  • disorder disorder, sweet disorder :D

  • i like the other one betterrr!

  • did u know dat they used real paint 4 dis advert

  • The paint is EXPLODING. Explosions and fireworks are not supposed to be soothing.

  • This crap?

  • the band simple minds come from the circus

  • This is like a slower version of such great heights by the postal service. Who does this version?

  • @madelineschannel Iron and Wine

  • it's totally crazy :D

  • whats this song called? its awesome :)

  • I like the music, its soothing but maybe not suited for this add.

  • one word shit

  • thats 3 words

  • @robertjvictor poison the environment even more?

  • The first song woks better defitnily.

  • i'm with u!

  • i Feel that the first songs rhythm goes a lot better with the paint. But i really like how its slowed down it allows u to enjoy it more.

Either way still love it! Such Great Heights has a good feel to it as well in slow-me.

  • Also, why does the campaign have to only have quiet, mostly acoustic singer-songwriter stuff for music? The campaign is consistent in that they're all street art/public installations that follow the theme "Color like no other', Sony's slogan for the Bravia line. We should be so lucky that a big corporation is willing to let some crazy artists go hog wild on such crazy ideas for advertisements, of all things.

  • This music would probably be good in a different commercial with a different feel, but yeah, the original clip is designed around that particular piece of music so well, why would you change it? This highlights that it is pivotal in that, if you change the original music, the whole thing falls apart. Would you swap out the Stones in the clay rabbits ad? Hell no, because it's one of the most beautiful ads I've ever seen and "She's Like A Rainbow" is a big part of why I love it.

  • Just because you use some lame music that barely resembles the one from the first ad doesn't mean it is better for this one. The original ad is suppose to be intense, energetic and breathtaking ... this is just boring .

  • nah i prefer the original, this is a bit dull.

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • which is the name of the song?

  • It's Such Great Heights by Iron&WIne

  • don't really care a lot but i have to say that sometimes critics are just nasty and not constructive at all.

    m

  • video good slower music...dull sorry but it's rubbish

  • you seen the first ad? its not meant to be in your face excitement, its meant to make you feel good watching it.

  • lack of intensity, the music is key and this song kill the original work. really sucks

  • Very good add. Love the music and the way it's slowed down. Still like the origional version better!

  • See?

So It Ture What Am About To Say? Sonys New Saying?

Sony Can Fuck Up A Hole Estate Lol

  • They didn't fuck it up that badly lol, it was Environmentally friendly paint and most of it would've probably come off in the next rain shower :P

  • was impossible to fuck that place up anymore than it already was

  • they were about to distroy the place, so who gives a fuck about what they are doing to some 1960s concrete crap?!

  • @jb7069 so why there still a thousand ppl stay in the circus ? get ure info from real ppl m8

  • the housing estate that is shown in the video was about to be destroyed, no one cared, it actually brought loads of people out and people actually met there neighbours! what are you on about with the circus thing?

  • i stayed in the flat thats still up for 10 years, the place is called prospecthill circus, aka the circus

  • look it up on wikipedia! it was destroyed, and its not the circus, its the Toryglen! get your facts right mate!

  • @jb7069 lol, ano, i only stayed there for 10 years........ prospecthill circus, toryglen, glasgow. smart arse

  • @jb7069 i staid in the flats for 10 years m8, prospecthill circus, toryglen, glasgow................

  • it doesn't matter it stilled got destroyed after the event!

  • that was great! and the colourful rain... :))

  • nice work

  • I disagree!

  • this would be a piantballer's worst nightmare, it his enemy was in control of those o.0

  • nah, as has been said the whole point in the original music is the fireworks and spectacle of the whole thing.

I think the beauty of the bouncy balls music is that it seems innocent and takes you back to childhood.

plus the first one feels so American and the 2nd one so british I think they contrast perfectly, the original music also has a certain sense of humor to it.

  • what song is this????

  • Iron & Wine's cover of Such Great Heights, originally by The Postal Service

  • fireworks and classical music go hand in hand, so i think the original score better matches the intensity and scale of the color explosion. cool take though

  • @rusty5050 bollocks

  • i like your idea and i'm impressed. but man! Postal Service makes me wanna vomit (yes i know that's the Iron & Wine cover).

  • The explosions of the paint are way too aggressive for this song. So I completely disagree.

  • This definitely makes sense. The bouncy ball commercial used a rather soothing Jose Gonzalez song. I like this.

  • both are good......:D

  • i prefer the original one. this footage is full of energy, and the original music and cutting fits it. in the first bravia vid the song went well with the rythm of the video, with slow motion bouncing of balls. here the music doensnt fit..like doesnt belong to the picture. IMHO

  • Got a 47" tv today for Boxing day!

    its Amazing.

  • sonybravia is the shit!!!! i have a 46 inch!! sickest TV ever!!

  • Art and Hard perfect job

  • ART IS A BLAST

  • You're trying to make explosions seem soothing? I prefer the original.

  • this piece of music definitely changes the overall mood - its much more ethereal, magical and comforting in a child like sense

  • como se llama la cancion?

  • "such great heights" - Iron and Wine

  • god damnit this is so well done.

  • although this is a beautiful song, I'd say that Rossini's orchestration worked better for this ad. There is so much dynamics and movements, colors and explosions and classical music suits perfectly here

  • Hi This commercial is perfect for a control image in some research I am doing. Is there any possibility that I could get a high quality version? Thanks

  • I didnt like the original ad music either but I dont think this is a good song, it doesnt make me feel at ease like Jose Gonzalez. This singer sounds pretty creepy, like a stalker since its more like a sexually sung lullaby, it would be more appropriate in a scary video.

  • i really really like such great heights, but i still think the original Lullaby for La Gazza Ladra suits the ad better just for the fact that exploding paint in this ad is not calm it is crazy, sparkling and fast and Lullaby for La Gazza Ladra is all of those 3 things, such great heights is more suitable for the bouncy balls ad. but still its a great song

  • It was alright... I just don't think the music actually went too well with the whole COLOURFUL EXPLOSION LOLOLOL part of the advert.

  • Heh, I know what you mean about the role of music for an advert. This video make me feel just as mellow as the bouncing balls advert did. The orchestral music just didn't seem to fit in well with the series of adverts. Good job!

  • damn. thats what i call art.

  • i agree with roguehawk07 about the music

this one is really nice, but it doesn't conect with ad

  • As much as I love Iron and wine, I think that the orchestral music was a better choice. The orchestra has many different noises and depths which I think reflects the colors and explosions in the commercial.

  • yeah not too bad, i like the song, anyone know what it is and who its from

  • Iron and Wine's cover of The Postal Service's 'Such Great Highs'. This is on Garden State aswell!

  • Love your take on this, fits in with the track from the first ad. Well done.

  • This music is better than Rossini's The Thieving Magpie ( La Gazza Ladra ) ?!?!

    I DON'T THINK SO !!!

  • Nobody said its better! You should read the 'about' again.

Its about being more or less apropriate...

And yeah, I like 'such great heights' better for this ad.

Now, kww355, go there and change your 3yo Lullaby for La Gazza Ladra instead of posting nonsense on youtube, ok

  • awesome! now if they could just let you into the louvre with a paint brush...

  • I like the original one better. When you're looking at complete destruction in the form of thousands of gallons of paint, slow guitar music doesn't quite cut it.

  • Hi! I loved your version much better aéthough I am a true fan of Jonathan Glazer. Probably he did an absolutely different version of the Bravia balls, because he knew he couldn't top it. By the wa

  • i actually prefered the original i thought it fit well but thats just me. Altho i am glad you took out the clown. I didn't really get the clown.

  • I love what you have done. Nifty yet subtle editing. I actually like the ad now...

  • Glad you took out the random clown shot, too!

  • That's a really a nice musical take on the spot. Much more in the spirit of the original Rubber Balls spot. Okay, Rubber Balls wasn't that original--it was a stunt pulled by David Letterman back in '96. Sony just made it look better.

  • Your choice of music fits this ad so much better. Also like how you've edited it, slowing it down really works. Good job.
