good stuff! and good you mentioned, that you leave her some material for support and not cutting her down all the way at ones - and that's what's my trainer says that for a barefooted horse you might leave some support until the horse has grown a solid hoof. btw: he's a "classic" farrier ;o) Do you have an update on this mare? Anyway, thank you for you effort with all that video stuff!
Thanks for the video, Linda. I have Arabs with really hard soles and hoof wall. I squirt their feet with Hydrogen Peroxide before trimming, it helps soften the wall so I can more easily use the nippers and rasp. I learn a lot from your videos, always a new tip or technique!
I will try and do that at some point, I've had that question before. Both too much carbs, green grass, and even trimmig can cuase it. One is systemic and the other mechanical. I'll have to do some thinking about it. But you can google it, and read up on it. That will tell you what to look for the signs. Type in "signs or smptoms of laminitis and causes.
Can you consider doing a video or series on what the start of laminitis looks like? I'm watching many videos in trying to learn and they tend towards the advanced cases. I would like to know how to recognise when it is starting.
Thank you so much for the great vids. I truly wish you were my farrier. :-)
This is the worst trim I have ever seen in my life...dont quit your day job.
