  • Look, mate ... that video you struck out. You must take the bitter part of the lemon! Cachaça is the same 51! But there are other even better! (SANDRO-Arapongas-BRAZIL)

  • Oi Nando! Thanks for the recipe! I live in US for 10 years now and miss all these great dishes from Brazil you show on your videos. Voce eh brasileiro? You seem to have an British accent and your English is super! Where did you learn to speak so well either languages? :-)

  • fraco fraco...hahah

  • Whats a good brand of cachaca? I've only ever seen 51?

  • @jppa22586 51 is perfect for a caipirinha.

  • @jppa22586 51 is like the cheapest Cachaça here (not quite sure by now as there is a trend here in glamourizing extremely popular stuff makin them much more expensive). I like Salinas and 3 Coronéis. The latter is very smooth.

I agree with people that say 51 is good for caipirinha but when drank pure 51 gives me headaches...

For foreigners: you should try to import 51 rather than buying it locally because 51 is extremely overrated outside Brasil. (It costs here about 3 dollars a lt)

  • can you come to my place and make it for me ? :-)

  • thats the best drink ever

im from BRAZIL and i love it so much *-*

  • I remember drinking these in Rio de Janeiro when we pulled into port. They are delicious.

  • i love being portuguese lol u get a taste of brasil at the same time i had this on sat for a graduation party :)

  • I made four of these last night according to your instructions and they were AWESOME. Thanks for giving me a taste of Brazil (it just makes me want to go there even more!)

  • Great video! I LOVE capirinhas.

I've used Aguardiente or Pisco as well. Pisco is extra nice!

  • Mojitos are made with white rum and Caipirinhas are made with Cachaça. But both require lime, sugar and some tender loving care with a pestle of some sort.

  • Can you use vodka to make this? Because I wanted to make this drink for my birthday coming up in a week with my brother so I was just wondering can you?

  • Certainly! Though we jokingly call it a 'Caipirovshka'. And you can also make it with White Rum, which we call a 'Caipirissima'. Happy Birthday.

  • Hey thanks man, thanks a lot and by the way I love your videos i think they're great and thanks for wishing me a happy birthday. By the way I wanted to become a bartender got any tips? Becuase I love your man I'm subscribing 5 out of 5!!!

  • @nandocuca Not to nitpick, but in case someone should want to look up these drinks: the correct spelling is Caipiroska. Abraço.

  • @stevethemonk I'm used to saying/spelling Caipiroska, but I liked 'Caipirovshka' sounds more like russian... But... I think in Brazil we are used to say Caipiroska because it is more familiar to the way our language sound.

@nandocuca I like the way you publicize brazillian culture, keep up the good work!

  • i thought mojitos were made with mint not lime?

  • Mojito's are made with mint, and lime :P

  • both and this is not a mojito vid m8

  • So... this is technically a mojito but without the mint.

  • Nope. Mojitos have white rum and soda water added. =)

  • does it have to be sugar cane rum

  • Not necessarily. You can use wodka, gin, rum or even tequila, a favorite of mine.

  • call me crazy, but I really like to use red wine (merlot). and when I'm completely international, I use some sake.

  • how do crushed limes give a lemony flavour?!

  • just bought cachaca, now I have to buy limes and a pestle and tomorrow I'll be having a nice caipirinha:)

  • youve forgotten the lemon

  • That's why you use limes man

  • this drink rocks!!! I LOVE BRASIL!!!!!

  • looks good

  • i agree

  • vc tomou ela brian? ~~

  • you're awesome!! keep the videos coming! love the food, culture, and language from Brasil and your videos make me love them more!

  • Ditto what he said, but also please keep making your daughters smokin' hot.

  • This is not how to make a caiparina. He left the top of the lime on. Any begining bartender understands that you cut the top and the bottom off of the lime prior to slicing it up. No matter what the drink. Many upscale bars would fire you if cut limes like that.

  • @mongobobo

Do the rules of "upscale bars" apply to a drink with a name that basically translates to "peasant's drink"? Do you think that country farmers generally take the time to slice the ends off their limes? Is this something you learned working at "upscale bars" in Brazil, or did you learn this in bartender school elsewhere?

  • Yes, we Brazilians cut the top of the lime off... At least in the city in which I live.

  • OZORT, Mongobobo has a point. It's not even in *just* the upscale bars. EVERYONE understands that you cut the top of the lime off... I'm not Brazilian, but have been living here for 8 years. I think a Brazilian would know better than a foreigner.. Please be nice and research before you accuse people of not knowing what they're talking about? If anything, *you* don't know what you're talking about.

  • a properly made Caipirinha is made with limes that have had both ends removed, and then cut length wise, the long white center stem is removed, then the halved lime(Limon) is cut in several places, or into pieces, then muddled with 2 tsps fine sugar, topped with ice and Cachaca(Fazenda Mae De Ouro), my favorite! and then shaken and pour back into the rocks glass unstrained...thats the way I learned how to make it...i prefer it shaken not stirred...please no 007 references...lol

  • a friend used this video to make caiparinas for a recent party and i'll atest to the fact that this is one of the best caiparinas i've ever had. and i've had a lot of caiparinas. i'll definitely use this the next time i'm making one...

    thanks for the great vid.

  • Hey! excellent video. Thanks for teaching me how to make this awesome cocktail.

  • Want one now

  • he is funny

  • Hey! that looks bloody nice! Gonna have to try that for sure! Cheers!

  • Dont care what you say, great vid. 5 stars mates.

  • so its like a mojito without the mint?

  • I would say caipirinha is a distant cousin of mojito..

A mojito has mint, club soda , sugar, lime juice, ice and rum . Caipirinha has chopped lime, sugar, ice and cachaca.

  • ah, thanks

  • Hey, give me a break. You try and do it to camera... I'll do it again some time soon. In the meantime, listen to goldstar60, and remove the pith.

  • He FORGOT to take the WHITE part of the lime OUT! Because it gives the drink a acid taste.

  • hey man, that's not a rule actually. It's up to you. I like it with "the white part of the lime" :)

Obrigada pelas receitas de arroz, de farofa... genial! To indo pra de feijoada agora... Um abraço!

  • so, what's the error? que é o erro?

  • epa? qual?
