Had it been the other way around you can bet it would have been no goal. The NHL has made it their mission to make the Penguins a dominant team. When Pittsburgh got awarded extra entries in the draft for Crosby they should have forfeited their right to Malkin but no. The fact that Matt Cooke is still allowed to play hockey is a joke through and through but he helps the Pens so he is fine. NHL is a sad joke these days. It's no longer a sport at all, it's 100% business.
@Osiryz Crosby is a god to the NHL........ His bad karma is catching up to him, he has a long career full of injures to look forward to. Hope you enjoyed when you were given that Stanley Cup sid, you will never truly win one.
that shouldn't have been a goal because technically it didn't cross the line untill after the whistle was blown. now the real question was why did the ref even blow the whistle in the first place?
@mlahk7 The puck was under the goalie and to ensure the Pens didn't lose time on the penalty he blew the wistle. Normally the goalie would have held the puck so it was the right call, however Peters got bumped and had to move which is the only reason it could be contended as a goal.
@TMLStremy usually though, when the goalie holds the puck the ref waits a couple second to blow the whistle, even if it is clear that he has the puck. i think the ref here blew the whistle prematurely because the goalie was still moving to cover the puck when the whistle was blown. it still isnt a goal though. whatever pens fans need to stop complaining the refs always give them cheap breaks now they know how it feels when something doesnt go their way ;)
As a Hurricanes fan, I was livid when the NHL overruled the officials. When the whistle is blown, the play is dead. Period. The NHL doesn't know their own rules ffs. The goalie could throw the puck into his own net after the whistle and it wouldn't count.
Going by the (stupid) intent to blow the whistle rule, you can call off a goal even if the whistle was after the puck going in...and this one was before the puck went in so...oh well.
@TheeUrbanGentleman what are you smoking? Intent to blow the whistle happens before the whistle blows, this puck didn't even go in until after the whistle had gone
@TheeUrbanGentleman sounds like a typical pens fan who started watching hockey 5 years ago.. toronto messed this one up big time. Watch "Brad May's disallowed goal" and tell me how this was a goal and May's was not
as a sens fan i know exactly how this feels. this happened all two often during the playoffs, there was a clear goal by fisher that was disallowed, and some of the shadiest penalty calling of life. betman has a raging hard on for crosby and any other team with a large market, and continues to bend the game to ensure that those teams win.
@jamsteinbears as a sens fan u should just understand that the penguins own your team even if fisher scores and the sens get some calls their way they still lose suck on it
not even an explaination to the crowd or the fans watching from the ref...makes me curious plus that little hesitation he had before he pointed

I really can't decide which was worse, this being allowed to stand or the Brad May goal being disallowed.

The commentators are shocked.......... I am not. Remember the 2009 finals........ There were a LOT worse calls in that entire series......

Even Bylsma and the players on the bench know that they got favored there. Look at him and the guys in front of him smile/chuckle.
Imagine being a Penguin and knowing that the powers that be in the NHL are in your back pocket?
