  • Good example of making a silk purse out of a sows ear! Nice job-TM

  • Thanks Thomas. I used a Asashi doner that was bent up and had some parts missing. No good units were sacrificed for this project.

  • Nice job. I wish my parents hadn't thrown out some of my old tin toys! I like to do crazy things like this.

  • I'm always looking at toys, especially tin to see if they are sized right to modify. These Super Atom Train Mountain Express Asahi Tin Toys can be tough to find and a little pricey. Got this one cheap because it was bent and missing some parts.

  • Thanks Walt. It's getting closer to ready to button up the shell. Got a head light wired in last night. A few more little things and it will be done. It has a very small motor from a K-Line speeder, but had been pulling 17 Marx six inch box cars fairly well.

  • HI Steve

I always enjoy your projects and this one is really different. Can't wait to see it pulling a long train. god Bless walt407

  • Thanks Brian. It will get a little better as I finish it. I just wish the Sound Commander had a timed battery back up to eliminate the chatter at low voltage, but they are really designed for command control systems that operate a high voltage all the time. Still a bargain system.

  • Nice Steve - we were all waiting to see this one run!
