that's true god hear the honest cry of breaking heart(truly repent) but if you still commit the sin over and over again. god will strict and discipline you , clean your life so you could like him.that's process of sanctification. No one else have more grace like God because god not want us in the eternally hell. but rules of God still remain
THIS SONG, DOESN'T SPEAK ABOUT GOD BEING GLAD WHEN WE ARE MISERABLE, WHEN WE ARE HURTING, WHEN WE ARE STRUGGLING .THESE ARE THE KINDS OF COMMENTS THAT I'VE MOSTLY READ WITH REGARDS TO THE MESSAGE OF THE SONG.
THIS SONG ONLY SPEAKS ABOUT HOW GREAT GOD'S MERCY AND LOVE IS THAT HE CAN ACCEPT US NO MATTER WHO WHO WE ARE, THAT WE CAN ALWAYS COME AS WE ARE, THAT WE ARE VALUABLE IN HIS SIGHT.
THAT WHEN WE CRY OUT TO HIM WITH AN HONEST HEART ( hurting or not ), HIS ARMS ARE OPEN WIDE TO ACCEPT US.
Love this song and the message of grace it gives. I don't understand the viciousness of the responses below. Where is your love? Your forgiveness? The anger and judgement that spews forth from your replies weakens your testimony. I am a born again believer and do not believe these come from a Godly perspective. Forgive 7x 70. Judge not. Guess these words are easily forgotten, and only certain ones remembered. Love you Amy.
Admitting we can't go on by ourselves. The Lord is glad to hear that we are telling Him our worries. that we turn to Him and acknowledge His strength.
I love this song, it has a great message and the first time i heard it i cried! It lets me know God is always with me, and if i need him he is listining. no matter how bad or mean i can be he always loves me!:'-)
Thank you Jesus for choosing the Cross for us all. In Life we have a choice. God will not force us to accept him. We all have that choice. Jesus came to Save all
@ForgivenbyGrace84 Yeawhoe's idea of "repentance" is that Amy should leave her now husband with whom she has a child, and return to her 1st husband who has been married 2x since Amy! It was not God's will for her to divorce, but He will forgive her if she asks. God desires for all to come to repentance.(IIPeter3:9)
Yeawhoe wants her to violate ICor7:10 yet again! TWO wrongs do not make a right!
@ForgivenbyGrace84 Yeawho is not misunderstanding you. He trolls Amy Grant videos and attacks those who disagree with him by calling them unrepentant adulterers/adulteresses who do not love God. I am a sinner saved by Grace and love God with all of my heart. I accepted Jesus as my savior @ 30 years ago. Amy is a sinner saved by Grace (Rom3:23) just like the rest of us. Repentance of her sins is between Amy and God. He knows her heart and hears her prayers. It is not for us to judge, only God.
God loves those who Praise Him from a clean heart &He also loves the lost who cry out to Him longing for a clean heart!! God is good 2 us & He washes us clean by His blood. None of us deserve His sacrifice but He gave it 2 us while we were still dead in sin. I choose to weep & cry out for the lost. I will pray that God will have mercy on Amy if she is in sin & if she refuses to repent that will be sad. Those that lead others astray, God will not let that go unpunished. We all need to watch&pray
For those of you who don't know Christ I want to let you know that God can forgive you, and we are called to love our enemies and pray for those who use us. God is a God of love but because He is holy He must judge like any good judge would. He must punish sin. Now God's mercy is new everyday, but there is some people who claim to be Christians, but in reality they have exchanged the truth for a lie. It is sad , we must repent of our sin. Come to God as you are and He will forgive u & change u.
@ForgivenbyGrace84 Thank you for reminding us of God's unfailing love for ALL. That He made us knowing that we aren't perfect and never will be until the day we die and join Him (if we have faith in Him alone). Also, that His forgiveness is available for ALL who chose to accept Him into their lives. <3 GOD bless you <3
@yeeeaaawhooo Is there ANY portion of this song that refers to "wailing and moaning of hell"? NO! If you think that this song is "anti-Biblical", YOU should actually READ the Bible! 25% of the Psalms is David pouring his miseries out to God. Christ poured out his miseries to God in the garden prior to his arrest. Isaiah poured out his miseries to God, Jeremiah poured out his miseries to God, Job poured out his miseries to God, Moses poured out his miseries to God...
@7902711 ...Those people that Christ healed, poured out their miseries to God. You would know that this song is NOT "anti-Biblical" IF you bothered to read!
@Sween9261 Again, you and your alter ego yeeeaaawhooo don't know the difference between apostacy(sp) and backsliding! Apostates completely renounce their faith. I defy you to find where Amy Grant has done that! You can't even read the entire passage in 1Cor. 6 to understand what you've quoted! You also only quote HALF the verse in John 7:24. You left out NOT BY APPEARANCE!
"There is a sin leading to death..." REMARRIAGE AFTER DIVORCE IS NOT THE UNPARDONABLE SIN!...
@7902711 You and your alter ego are fond of quoting the passage about the woman caught in adultery, where Christ says go and sin no more. The problem with that is that this woman had not remarried after a divorce! She was married and committed adultery! The example that pertains to Amy's situation is the Samaritan woman at the well, who was married 5 times. Christ DID NOT tell her that she must return to her first husband or live in celebacy.
This song isn't about God being happy to see us in misery. It's just about him accepting us even when we need help and don't have anything better to offer than our broken hearts. It's how much he loves us that he will accept us even when we bring him our sorrows because that's all we have. We just need to lift them up to God so he can take care of them.
I guess I am a baby Christian by the "test" of this song....I do not choose to serve a God who loves to see me in misery to make me come to Him. Suffering is optional, not a trophy. I live and serve Him in the joy of knowing He died to raise me up from that and I don't have to live in that to prove my worthiness to Him. It is for freedom that Christ set us free. Don't be burdened by the yoke of slavery again. I am free.
We need to pray, cry, and weep over all who are in sin or in error. We need to pray for those who are living selfish lives. If we truly love God we will obey His commands. Repent & turn from your sins. Adultery, divorce, lust, fornication are all sins deserving hell, but remember Jesus died for you so that you can be forgiven of all this. Come to Jesus and be saved. Turn from sin for God is merciful but He's also a judge. Those who are born of God, will not contiue in sin.
We are not to jude but to pray. Only God knows where her heart is. Be slow to speak & slow to become angry. If Amy is in error than God will deal with her. No matter what we should feel sorrow and be depply sad over people who are in sin, not condemn them. We must pray that they repent and be restored. So l let God judge on Judgement day. God will not cast out those who truly cry out to Him, it's the sick that need a doctor. He came to seek & save the lost. Trust in Jesus not in man.
Thank you for this. I've not had a decent relationship with God for nearly ten years, and this song was exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you so much. Ignore the haters on here...

@TBAWriter Yea that's true it does not mention it but I guess everyone has their opinion about the song :) I just know in my heart that God doesn't like to see us suffer even though the song might not point towards that but I know he would not leave us to suffer he would be there when we call for him!!! :)
@Maygirl2489 I agree that God doesn't like to see us suffer and that he would not leave us to suffer, but based solely on this song, someone who doesn't know God wouldn't understand it that way, and so I believe the song is extremely irresponsible.
To me this song is saying, that Sometimes god doesn't want to hear the "prefect" Hallelujah. Sometimes he wants us to be real with him. cry out to him when were broken, when we've hit rock bottom. He wants us to call out for him. This song doesn't mean 'god loves to hear us suffer' it that when we do suffer, he want to hear us call out to him, and say 'no matter what i'm gonna praise you Through this'.
you guys! this song is not about God loving to hear us suffer... it is saying that the random tears of pain and cry out to him is better than a fake hallelujiah in church... its about getting rid of your mask and giving up your life to God to save yourself... please understand God doesnt like us hurting but sometimes it is what it takes to make is so we understand his Majesty above all other things......
you tube and why they felt the need to be so cruel ... thank you amy for ur wonderful voice that god blessed you with and lord i love you thank you for ur forgivness and mercy we all need it AMEN
stop throwing stones and judging others ... and for all of you people who dont believe in god why are you listening to music that glorifies him if you dont believe ? that bible says even the devil believes but trembles at his name. there is no reason to lamb bash an artist worshiping or to try and justify your unbelief in god when everything around you tells you hes real if u admitt it or not praise god he is a forgiving god because there are going to be alot of people answer for their post on
i think its ashame all the horrible things people have wrote on this video maybe amy has made mistakes in her marriage but havent we all ? maybe not the same one as her but unless you know her personaly and watch her 24/7 which i hope you dont because thats called stalking and is illegal by the way . then you dont know what her life is like or who she is sleeping with and its certainly no ones concern to plasture that all ove the internet. she sings to glorify god and it helps so many
Ok all you smart alecs. No this song is saying that He knows for some of us life sucks or can get hard at times. And he wants to hear us coming to him instead of going to the world giving yourself away, cutting, drugs, alcohol. He rejoices so much when His children come to him for help. He wants to save you and help you.
anyone can listin to someone saying hallelujah to them weather its fake or real, but it really shows you love them when you are willing to spill out all your problems and pan to them God would rather have all the burdens in your heart than a fake hallelujah
If you don't understand this song and can't see beauty in it please read the Psalms of Suffering. (Psalms 16, 22, 40, 69) God can use even the unbelievers or those who have wandered from His side to speak to us. It is not our place to judge. Sometimes when we are going through something difficult, the only thing that comes out is tears and moaning but the Bible says that is the Spirit of God interceding for us (Romans 8:26) that is more beautiful than any song. That is the message I see.
@coolcatellie I believe you'll understand what this song is talking about, even if you are young. I mean, look at me, I'm only 14! XD But if you let God speak to you, and just meditate intently on the lyrics of this song, He will reveal it to you. So i encourage you, go ahead and sing it church! :) God bless, and have a wonderful day.
@coolcatellie I think it would be appropriate to sing in church. But I believe that you should first listen to the song and seek out its meaning. I mean, I think it's kinda pointless to sing a song praising God without knowing what it means. Sure it's all glory and praise to God, but don't just sing it because it sounds good. It should be out of a sincere desire to glorify God, and not yourself. This is just a suggestion, but listen to the song carefully, and let God speak to you.
I'm a little confused about the arguments stated here, but i don't think that this song isn't saying that God loves the suffering of people just because they are crying out in misery. He loves it because it shows a repentant heart ready to receive love, hope, and forgiveness. I am not talking about crying out as in crying out in pain, but crying out to God as in showing the desire to be forgiven and loved, THAT'S the kind of "cries of misery" this song was talking about.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your UNFAILING LOVE through Your RISEN SON, The LORD Jesus Christ, Who DIED FOR US while we were yet sinners. We BLESS YOU, LORD, Who PARDONS ALL our iniquities, Who HEALS ALL our diseases, Who REDEEMS OUR LIVES from the pit, Who CROWNS us with LOVE and COMPASSION, Who SATISFIES our mouths with GOOD THINGS so that our Youth is RENEWED LIKE THE EAGLE's - PSALM 103:1-5
John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
1Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
James 5:9 Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
Hebrews 12:15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
1 John 2:9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness.
Romans 2:1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things
I know virtually nothing about Amy Grant, but I do like this song. I do not agree with some of the message, but I do believe that God would rather have the repentant cries of a lost child than a "Hallelujah!"
~Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. - Luke 15:10 ~
Nothing delights Him like a lost one turning to Him, wanting His forgiveness, and Him being able to then allow them into His kingdom.
I think she is saying that God loves when we look him instead of worldly things.. even if that means we cry out in pain because it shows even in our worst times we trust god and know he is there.
I absolutely love this video. We have to be broken for God to make a difference in our life. When we cry out to him and surrender He hears our cries and wipes our tears.
No offense, guys, but who said melodies were happy? I think it's saying that God listens, and helps us. I think they're saying that he's ALWAYS there to here to hear them. No matter how much were self-pity we're pouring out, he's always there.
Its really sad that people are bashing the lyrics of this song. I completely get what she is saying and I agree. A plea to Jesus in the time of trial, which by the way is exactly when God wants you to rely on him, is the most sincere, honest plea I could ever imagine. Sometimes people go through trial to bring them closer to Him or even to witness to others etc. Whatever the reason it is usually when we cry for Jesus and put all our trust in him, when he is all we have left and we know it.
Wow all the bashing going on. Sounds like you got life all figured out. Maybe you should put your stones away and go out like the Savior did and do his work instead of spending time here arguing. You have really missed the point of the song and your words and conduct in this forum are really quite sad.
The issue in the song is not that it's good to be "messed up", or that God enjoys seeing us that way. The point is that God is simply wanting us to be honest with Him, rather than having a pharisaical piousness that creates a wall between Him and us. He wants us to come to Him as we are, rather than trying to get it together in our own power beforehand. That is the point she is making. Watch her explaination video.
JESUS LOVES US ALL. BUT SOMETIMES AS BELEIVERS WE GET SO SELFISH, AND FORGET THE LOST. the Lord will leave the 99 just for one lost sheep, im glad he hears my crys when i cry in missery, even now its possible we all need JESUS ALL OF US. i understand the words better than a hallelujah sometimes. what is the movtive of our hallalujah?? i wonder...
I don't think the person who made this video got the message quite clearly. Yes, God loves us no matter who we are, and no, he does not care, but that's not the message of this song. It is a beautiful melody, and a beautiful song if you don't think too hard about the true message.
@ratherbefishing11 Its not saying God loves when we suffer, but the fact that when we suffer we turn to Him so that he can make it better. He loves when we pray to him in our times of need instead of us just assuming we can deal with it on our own.
@FunAndSweet97 I know this is what some believers take from this song but these words: "God loves a lullaby In a mothers tears in the dead of night Better than a Hallelujah sometimes. God loves a drunkards cry, The soldiers plea not to let him die Better than a Hallelujah sometimes. We pour out our miseries God just hears a melody Beautiful the mess we are The honest cries of breaking hearts Are better than a Hallelujah" to an unbeliever make our God sound like He doesn't love His children.
I love this song. It reminds me that there are starving and hurt men, women and children everywhere and that we are very fortunate to have roofs over our heads, good clothes to wear and an actual meal, not some disgusting old gruel. It lets us know that we are not the only ones here on earth and that there are others that need our help. Help save the people of earth so that hunger may vanish among the humans and other organisms that roam the earth and let the mighty earth rise yet again! Just l
I just love this song.. when i first heard it in church i thought what a terrible song this is. So i get where some of you are comng from. But the more the pastor explained and the more i listened to it i fell in love with it. When we are in our darkest hour crying out to God he is there.. its a melody to him not in that he is happy to see us hurting but in that we are crying to him for help. That we are being so honest in that moment and thats what he loves.
Many people are not understanding the true message of this song! She is not saying it brings our Lord joy to hear us cry out, but that it brings Him joy when we turn away from our evil sins and turn to Him instead!
@SaunaRocks1 Its not that god likes to see us in pain, he wants us to turn to him when we hurt instead of away, as many people blame god for all the pain and suffering. So to cry to god is to let him in, we are to hand over our ways and live by the word of god instead of the ways of man. I love this song and when I listen to the words it does indeed remind me that through my suffering God is with me.
@emobabe77141, you unbelievers are incredible! In total ignorance of God's Word, you genuflect to unrepentant adulteress enemies of God [James4:4], contradicting Him with vapid vain imaginings, completely deaf to what God the Judge [John12:48] says for Himself! No reason He gives for your failure to hear/heed Him is good: John8:47; John3:20; Rom1:28; 1John3:8; Rom11:8; John12:40; 2Thes2:11-12
Amy's refusal to STOP committing adultery means Heb10:26-27 applies; she may be beyond hope [Heb6:4-6]
god hate it.. T_T...i was listening to this while watching porn T_T... i dont mean to disrespect i just find it kinda funny..i was watching porn then i realized this song was playing T_T.....
Listen to the words people, how doyou know if Amy Grant repented or not, my YHVH is a loving and forgiving YHVH. Most of the time the only time people pray is in a time of need, YHVH LOVES to hear from His people, and the angels rejoice when one falls to their knees and ask YHVH for HIS HELP and forgiveness. It is not your job to judge, that is for YHVH and YHVH only, you so-called Christians are incredible, you self righteous judging jack asses
Listen to the words people, how doyou know if Amy Grant repented or not, my GOd is a loving and forgiving GOD, most of the time the only time people pray is in a time of need, GOD LOVES to hear from His people, and the angels rejoice when one falls to their knees and ask YHVH for HIS HELP and forgiveness
@yeeeaaawhooo Atheists point to the flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, The Revelation, natural disasters, and hell to claim that the Christian God is a sadist. We know that God is not a sadist, and that's not what the lyrics of this song say. How do you claim that this song is "anti-Biblical/anti-church" when the Psalms are full of David crying out/pouring his miseries out to God. Jeremiah cried out to God, begging his mercy on Israel, as did most of the prophets, as did Christ himself!
I think the song is great because our tears and miseries are beautiful to God because He wants us to cry to Him and give Him our problems, because He can fix everything we have going wrong. Yes, He wants to hear our praises as well, but He loves it when we come to Him broken because He can fix it.
@ratherbefishing11 Listen to the lyrics carefully. It shows that we are repenting. She's not saying God loves to see us in pain, but it mean he loves us. He smiles because he sees our sorrow and our longing to turn back. It hurts more to see children struggle and be silent than it is to watch them hurt them come back. I'd rather us turn back to God, not sit in pain. He looks at our mess and calls us beautiful, because he will fix us. We are his.
Jesus knows what it is like to have a broken heart. For some people it takes hitting rock bottom to finally cry out to the Lord to heal their hearts. For many People (including myself) it takes a broken, open heart to finally accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. When we become christians we become new people. We are all sinners and we all fall short of what God wants but yet God loves us still. His love is so amazing. Thats what I got from this song. We are his children.
In response to the second comment under the video, which may have been ages ago. I think the melody in the cries of His children is in the fact that we need Him enough to ask for help.
how did this message get so corrupted? i would think people would like this song, but i guess im wrong. what Amy's trying to convey here is that no matter how bad we mess up God still loves us and tho He will cry with us when we hurt, He is bigger than any screwed up thing we get ourselves into. thats the "we pour out our miseries, God just hears a melody" part. again, meaning He loves us no matter how messed up we are.
@ratherbefishing11 I think the message of the song is about the people who repent. Crying on your knees for all your sins is better music, in God's ears, than 1000 happy faced songs and a dead soul.
i think it means when we are crying or screaming, when we cry to god for help its better than thanking him and singing for him. beacuse when you cry infront of someone and ask for their help, you trust them.
When you read the Psalms and Job, you see misery being poured out all over the pages...often I go to them when I am in my deepest sorrow and grief and loss (many losses recently). My husband and I are in some very gritty ministry, and it helps people to know they can pour their hearts out to God and he hears them.
And please, unless you have confronted Amy personally with these accusations, you are not acting Biblically, and you are slandering her.
I do think our misery and tears sounds like a melody because I believe our Lord is most pleased when we come to him as children would in their deepest hurt & need. I think it is in our deepest moment of need that we are in our most perfect communion with God.
A loving father loves tears of joy, but Nirvana “come as you are’ ...”Honest, straight from the heart, he wants to hear it, help it, comfort us, strengthen us..We are beautiful..He sees the love in us..He hears us, but he see Us.. That’s what I think, better than a Hallelujah sometimes”
@Yeeeaaawhooo, you are to look at your enamies wt simpathy, not judgment. You are to help the helpless you are lead blind Frankly you are to leading them right off a FREEKIN CLIFF!!! use your comon sens. You dont have to read the bible to know you arent better than Amy you arent God you arent to judge, and there are enough jerks in the world without you listen to God not try to stand up for him rongly cuz thts all your doin dude. God loves her thts all tht maters not wt i say not wt u say.juGod
@yeeeaaawhooo How do you knoow she is still an adultress? How do you know she evr was? i have read the things you say to other ppl and wt they say to you and i have noticed you never answer any body else's questions. We all stand up for what we baliev in but u just cower behind ur key board and type things tht u thnk suport wt ur saying. You never acknowledge wt ppl say to you if it makes you look bad. Your a sorry little person. You are only pointing out other peoples flaws. Wt bout urs?
I love this song so much && it makes me cry all the time I listen to it. My boyfriend is sick && in the hospital. I hope my tears will allow god to let come out safe && well.
"Criticism is the disapproval of people, not for having faults, but for having faults different from your own." James Macdonald, from: Lord, Change my attitude.
@Sween9261 I await your answer to my question: Do YOU keep EVERY one of Jesus' words? Though, I KNOW that you will not answer it. If you say "yes, I keep EVERY one of Jesus' words", you will be proven a LIAR: If you say "No, I can't keep EVERY one of Jesus' words", you will be proven to be no better than Amy Grant or any of the rest of us.
@Sween9261 Do YOU keep EVERY one of Jesus' words? YOU don't know that Amy "does not love God". YOU don't know that she has not repented and received forgiveness. You and yeeeaaawhooo like to misquote the apostle Paul in 1Cor. 6, so, how do you conveniently leave out 1Cor. 4:1-8? Verse 5 in particular : "Therefore, judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will manifest the counsels of the hearts...
@7902711 ...and then shall every man have praise of God" VS 6: "...that you might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another".
@yeeeaaawhooo you are disgusting Amy grant cares nothing about adultery you can tell in her hart her full intire love is on God. The one and true God.
@wade6134, because repentance means to turn from sin, all will know when Amy has decided to repent, to love God more than she loves her adultery [John14:21-24], and to STOP disobeying God [1Cor7:10-11, Rom7:3], instead of blatantly, willfully continuing as a child of disobedience on the path to hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9, Eph5:6]. The question is whether Amy even is able to repent, or already is too far gone to be redeemed [Heb6:4-6, 1Pet2:20-22, Luke17:1-2, 1John5:16]. You need to hear to God.
@ratherbefishing11 its more like our honest cries of what we have done are a melody to him because we feel bad for what we have done as opposed to not seeing the wrong in it all.
This is very great...wow....I love this wordings....perfectly worded and composed into a nice lyrics backed with powerful instrumentation. This is glorious.
@yeeeaaawhooo you don't even know me and you have no right to judge me and really its just a song if you have a problem with it don't listen to it. There are hills to die on, are you sure this is one?
@yeeeaaawhooo i respect the fact that you have been a close follower of Christ but i have to disagree with you on what you say about Amy Grant. She simply sings of our God because of her love of him. I may not be as "mature" in my walk as you say you are because i am but a child but i have simple faith. A faith that allows me to see that, even though the theological parts of Christianity are important, the relationship with Christ in itself is much more important. that is the point of the song.
I see all this talk about this song having an incorrect meaning, but the way I hear the song is this. People realizing they've been wrong, and turning to God. All the misery that's talked about in this song is people realizing they need God. And she says it's better than a hallelujah because of a parable I remember. I don't know the reference of the parable, but it talks about how the shephard rejoices more for one lost sheep being found than the ninety-nine that were already found.
@Xxjustakid27, your vapid little jingles have zero authority without support/confirmation from God's Word, and He tells us unambiguously the future of unrepentant adulteress enemies of God [James4:4] like Amy and all such children of disobedience ends in hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9, Eph5:6, Matt7:23].
Your ignorance of God's Word may render you impotent to discern good from evil, but that does not apply to Christians who love God [John14:21-24] and have ears to hear.
This song says that when we have problems take them to God and he can make something beautiful from them. Personally I like Amy Grant, she is one of my favorite artist, and I have no right to judge her. Every sinner has a future and every saint has a past.
@XxSamanthabelarxX, from a mature Christian who knows God's Word intimately and has walked with the Lord for decades: you are right to reject these lyrics! They're false theology straight from the pit of hell, via an unrepentant adulteress enemy of God [James4:4] whom God tells us is bound for hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9, Eph5:6].
Other adulterers here who worship Amy as champion do not hear/heed God for reasons He gives: [John8:47; John3:20; Rom1:28; 1John3:8; Rom11:8; John12:40; 2Thes2:11-12]
Jesus forgives. There is therefore now no condemnation Romans 8
Matthew 7:1
Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
This song is says bring your mess to Jesus because his blood paid the price. Don't hesitate to come to him when you've made mistakes. The Bible is filled with people who have messed up. God will work it for good if we humbly come to Him and ask forgiveness.
David is considered a man after God's own heart. This is God speaking this truth (Acts 13:22). David committed adultery.
I'm sorry to sound like a disbeliever...I've just recently found my faith in the lord again and I'm questioning the lyrics of this song....Why does it sound like god wants us to be miserable in the song? I mean i'm not saying he does but the way it's worded makes me question it...I love the song but the message doesn't make sense to me. Please be kind with responses I'm only a kid....
@XxSamanthabelarxX Congratulations on finding God! he wants us to talk to him not only to praise him, but to plead to him, confide in him, and trust him with every thing. Even our sorows and trials.
@XxSamanthabelarxX it's not that he wants us to be miserable! its not like that at all. she's saying that God wants to hear from us, even when we are at our weakest. he wants us to come to him as we are. it means that we should come to him when we are at our lowest. "when we are at our weakest, he is at his strongest". i hope that helps. :)
She made a mistake like EVERY. OTHER. SINGLE. PERSON. One sin is not greater than another! We've all cheated, lied; some point in our lives! Because she DIVORCED her husband does not mean she is not in a relationship with God and you have no right to QUESTION that realtionship with her and God.
@Kaviara1, will you tell us next that you, like Amy, love adultery more than you love God? And like the sadist god of this song, you love wailing and moaning, and pouring out miseries? All you hear is a pleasant melody? Then, you will love sharing Amy's fate in hell, which is what God says awaits such lawless children of disobedience [1John3:4, Matt7:23] who do not love Him [John14:21-24], and who keep on committing adultery despite what He says [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9, Rom7:3, 1Cor7:10-11].
@yeeeaaawhooo yes, i hear a good song. i love it and i see that she is worshipping God. "sadist god"? thats missing the point. she means that Jesus loves to hear from us and be honest and open with him. and no, i don't love adultery. i love Jesus, and i know that im going to heaven. i've read those verses and i don't see their relevance here. Jesus didnt make you judge. as a Christian our job is to bring people to Christ, not to condemn them and push them away.
oh yeah and to everyone bagging out Amy Grant.. You have NO right to judge her.. God alone has that right... And no matter what she did God is ready to forgive her. And before you condemn someone, take a minute to stop and think about your own life.. You're not perfect either.. And altho you yourself may not be guilty of adultery or whatever you are accusing her of, God says that whoever breaks one commandment is guilty of breaking them all. Some of you need to take a look at Matthew 7:3-5
I read one of the comments that basically said the meaning of this song is that God is happy when we are upset & going thru trials. That's absolutely not true.. it's saying that when we are going thru hard times, God rejoices in the fact that we look to Him for comfort instead of resorting to drugs, alcohol & other vices.. He wants you to trust in Him for ALL things. His love is neverending & overwhelming.. & all He asks from u is faith, repentance, belief and prayer.. Is that really so hard??
And, yeeeaaawhooo, everytime i look at an amy grant song, you're always the one condemning her with God's word. I'm sure that's not what God wanted when he gave us the Bible. she left her relationship because she was being abused. if you think she has to stay in a marriage despite that, remember that God is love. Call me what you want, but i KNOW God wouldnt have wanted her to stay in that relationship. God will serve justice, but he also is merciful, or else none of us would be saved.
@tOOHotTOhndle, do you enjoy every song sung by a devil's disciple to spread false theology and lead little ones into sin? Why would you enjoy such a thing?
Haven't you heard what God says about Amy's heart [Jer17:9] from which lusts flow her disobedient, on-going adultery [Matt15:19]?
Why don't you believe God? Are you an unbeliever like Amy, who must not believe God when He tells us she is bound for hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9], or surely she would repent -- unless Heb6:4-6 describes her!
@Shashi11962, the kindest thing God could say to you would be Heb5:12-14. More likely, He needs you to hear Mark8:38. God was not casting stones when He told the adulteress to STOP committing adultery. He did not tell her to continue sexual immorality if it felt good, made her happy and rich. Instead, He promises such His wrath [1John3:4, Eph5:5, Matt7:23]. Without repentance, Amy will go to hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9]. The question is whether she's already beyond being able to repent [Heb6:4-6]
@yeeeaawhooo no one is beyond being able to repent. And God was talking to all the other people judging the adulteress when he said Let he who is without sin cast the first stone YOU are not showing the love of God. You are being cruel and mean. Jesus was never cruel or mean to the people that hurt him. He loved them even more. We are called to be like God, so we should love her even more. You can not deside the fate of any man. You are NOT God You dont act like him either dont you see Gods love
Who are we to judge her? Let's leave it to a God who is just and merciful because He can see the human heart clearly than we do. Can you not just enjoy the song???
@LilBoPeep13, indeed you are confused! You're confused about Who is the God of the Universe, and what He says [John12:48]. Amy's eternal mistake is not what she did, but what she is doing. She's living in on-going, adulterous disobedience of God which makes her God's enemy [James4:4] enroute to hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9]
Being human, as you call it, is no excuse; humans who are children of disobedience go to hell [Eph5:6, Matt7:23]. Don't be one of Amy's victims [Luke17:1-2], heed God instead!
@yeeeaaawhooo Here's a question for you: If a person who was divorced and has remarried PRIOR to becoming a Christian, upon becoming a Christian, must that person divorce their current spouse and live a life of celibacy if reconciliation with the first spouse is not possible? If that is the case, then how can the Bible say that God hates divorce, if He requires it a second time to "show repentance"?
wait im confused! what in the world did she do? shes human she makes mistakes. if you dont agree with the song then you dont have to listen to it. and yes i understand that shes not exactly correct in this but still!
@daddiessherribug, you'll get no argument from me that you are not God, but if that's truly as you say "all I know," and you continue to take offense at God's Word, you may be in as deep poop as Amy.
God is indeed judge [John12:48], and He tells us Amy does not love Him [John14:21-24], is His enemy [James4:4] enroute to hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9]. Without repentance, she will receive the wrath God promises to children of disobedience [Eph5:6, Matt7:23]. If Heb6:4-6 applies, she is beyond hope.
For anyone who is looking for a biblical explanation of the gospel and salvation, I would highly recommend checking out the scribd website that is listed on my channel. The scripture references given on there make it very clear and easy to understand.
@Tehkumsah, why don't you read for yourself, and study God's Word to see what He says? To answer your question, no, God doesn't forgive all sins; in fact clear Scriptural evidence shows there are points of no return before death [Rom1:28] Many YouTube sites explore the subject. Do you think satan could be forgiven? Did Judas ask forgiveness? Christ says blasphemy never is forgiven! And the God for Whom nothing is impossible says He will NOT restore apostates [Heb6:4-6] of which Amy may be one.
@yeeeaaawhooo Once again, you are WRONG. Christ did NOT say "blasphemy never is forgiven!" As a matter of FACT, He said "All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men; but the blasphemy agains the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, neither in the age to come" Matthew 12:31-32.
@yeeeaaawhooo As for Heb. 6:4-6, Get yourself a Scolfield Reference Bible, and you will understand that this passage is NOT refering to losing one's salvation. Reference 1Cor 9:27 where Paul is speaking again of service, not salvation. I have listed numerous times for you all the scriptural references that say you can't lose your salvation (see the first chapter of Ephesians, the first chapter of Phillipians, and the first chapter of 1 Peter).
This song gives such a beautiful meaning, it's sad some people cannot listen to it in peace and not fight(: It gives such a message of love and hope to those, and shows that god can and will forgive anyone if they truly repent in there heart, and words, and believe in his son Jesus Christ; and that he died on the cross for our sins. It shows that we will, and all have made mistakes even if we don't notice them. But because his son died on the cross for them; We can be Forgiven. <3
@TheGillebean, if you steadfastly refuse to read God's Word, how do you ever hope to hear and know Him? If you never know Him, but keep contradicting Him, how do you expect ever to spend eternity with Him?
Despite your claim to read the Bible, you didn't read any of the referenced Scripture, did you?! Why won't you come to the Light? Are you like Amy an unrepentant adulterer whom God calls His enemy? God felt compassion for the rich man who loved wealth more than God, because it ended in hell.
@yeeeaaawhooo You haven't even bothered to read the Scripture you reference! If you did bother to read the entire text of where you are getting the "referenced Scripture" you MIGHT actually understand the context. (I.E. 1Cor 6:3)
@yeeeaaawhooo i read your referenced scripture. Honestly i dont understand why you call Amy an unrepentant adulteress. Im only 13 All I know is God loves me God loves u And because he does, I should too. You should love Amy because he does. I allso dont understand why you think you know she hasn't repented. you arent better than any one else here so drop the fancy talk, and have as i quote ''compassion for the rich man." if you could explain these things that b great <3u
@TheGillebean, if you steadfastly refuse to read God's Word, how do you ever expect to hear and know Him? If you never get to know Him, and you keep contradicting Him, how do you expect ever to spend eternity with Him?
He knows Amy, and He says she does not love Him [John14:21-24], she has made herself His enemy [James4:4], living in unrepentant, on-going, willful adultery [Mark10:12, Rom7:3, 1Cor7:10-11, Luke16:18] enroute to hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9]. God promises such His wrath [Matt7:23].
that's true god hear the honest cry of breaking heart(truly repent) but if you still commit the sin over and over again. god will strict and discipline you , clean your life so you could like him.that's process of sanctification.

The Lord wants an honest heart.
"The HONEST CRIES OF A BREAKING HEART" - HONEST.
That's what I hear on this wonderful song.

KarynBo 3 months ago
@ForgivenbyGrace84 Yeawho is not misunderstanding you. He trolls Amy Grant videos and attacks those who disagree with him by calling them unrepentant adulterers/adulteresses who do not love God. I am a sinner saved by Grace and love God with all of my heart. I accepted Jesus as my savior @ 30 years ago. Amy is a sinner saved by Grace (Rom3:23) just like the rest of us. Repentance of her sins is between Amy and God. He knows her heart and hears her prayers. It is not for us to judge, only God.
KarynBo 3 months ago
God loves those who Praise Him from a clean heart &He also loves the lost who cry out to Him longing for a clean heart!! God is good 2 us & He washes us clean by His blood. None of us deserve His sacrifice but He gave it 2 us while we were still dead in sin. I choose to weep & cry out for the lost. I will pray that God will have mercy on Amy if she is in sin & if she refuses to repent that will be sad. Those that lead others astray, God will not let that go unpunished. We all need to watch&pray
ForgivenbyGrace84 3 months ago

7902711 3 months ago
@7902711 ...Those people that Christ healed, poured out their miseries to God. You would know that this song is NOT "anti-Biblical" IF you bothered to read!
7902711 3 months ago
@Sween9261 Again, you and your alter ego yeeeaaawhooo don't know the difference between apostacy(sp) and backsliding! Apostates completely renounce their faith. I defy you to find where Amy Grant has done that! You can't even read the entire passage in 1Cor. 6 to understand what you've quoted! You also only quote HALF the verse in John 7:24. You left out NOT BY APPEARANCE!
"There is a sin leading to death..." REMARRIAGE AFTER DIVORCE IS NOT THE UNPARDONABLE SIN!...
7902711 3 months ago
@7902711 You and your alter ego are fond of quoting the passage about the woman caught in adultery, where Christ says go and sin no more. The problem with that is that this woman had not remarried after a divorce! She was married and committed adultery! The example that pertains to Amy's situation is the Samaritan woman at the well, who was married 5 times. Christ DID NOT tell her that she must return to her first husband or live in celebacy.
7902711 3 months ago
This song isn't about God being happy to see us in misery. It's just about him accepting us even when we need help and don't have anything better to offer than our broken hearts. It's how much he loves us that he will accept us even when we bring him our sorrows because that's all we have. We just need to lift them up to God so he can take care of them.
xIndustria 3 months ago

ForgivenbyGrace84 3 months ago
We are not to jude but to pray. Only God knows where her heart is. Be slow to speak & slow to become angry. If Amy is in error than God will deal with her. No matter what we should feel sorrow and be depply sad over people who are in sin, not condemn them. We must pray that they repent and be restored. So l let God judge on Judgement day. God will not cast out those who truly cry out to Him, it's the sick that need a doctor. He came to seek & save the lost. Trust in Jesus not in man.

@TBAWriter Yea that's true it does not mention it but I guess everyone has their opinion about the song :) I just know in my heart that God doesn't like to see us suffer even though the song might not point towards that but I know he would not leave us to suffer he would be there when we call for him!!! :)
Maygirl2489 3 months ago

Ok all you smart alecs. No this song is saying that He knows for some of us life sucks or can get hard at times. He wants to save you and help you.

Saviorking1997 5 months ago
@coolcatellie I think it would be appropriate to sing in church. But I believe that you should first listen to the song and seek out its meaning. I mean, I think it's kinda pointless to sing a song praising God without knowing what it means. Sure it's all glory and praise to God, but don't just sing it because it sounds good. It should be out of a sincere desire to glorify God, and not yourself. This is just a suggestion, but listen to the song carefully, and let God speak to you.
Saviorking1997 5 months ago
I'm a little confused about the arguments stated here, but i don't think that this song isn't saying that God loves the suffering of people just because they are crying out in misery. He loves it because it shows a repentant heart ready to receive love, hope, and forgiveness. I am not talking about crying out as in crying out in pain, but crying out to God as in showing the desire to be forgiven and loved, THAT'S the kind of "cries of misery" this song was talking about.

And, uh, I now have a problem with Amy Grant.
"I have a healthy sense of right and wrong, but sometimes, for example, using foul, exclamation-point words among friends can be good for a laugh."
Uh, I think a certain singer needs to go spend some quiet time with God and her Bible...
sylvirfoxx 5 months ago 5

That we are being so honest in that moment and thats what he loves.
littlelady2342 5 months ago
Many people are not understanding the true message of this song! She is not saying it brings our Lord joy to hear us cry out, but that it brings Him joy when we turn away from our evil sins and turn to Him instead!
cameronalexn9 5 months ago
@SaunaRocks1 Its not that god likes to see us in pain, he wants us to turn to him when we hurt instead of away, as many people blame god for all the pain and suffering. So to cry to god is to let him in, we are to hand over our ways and live by the word of god instead of the ways of man. I love this song and when I listen to the words it does indeed remind me that through my suffering God is with me.

Most of the time the only time people pray is in a time of need, YHVH LOVES to hear from His people, and the angels rejoice when one falls to their knees and ask YHVH for HIS HELP and forgiveness.
7902711 5 months ago
I think the song is great because our tears and miseries are beautiful to God because He wants us to cry to Him and give Him our problems, because He can fix everything we have going wrong. Yes, He wants to hear our praises as well, but He loves it when we come to Him broken because He can fix it.
dewmocracy88 5 months ago

@Sween9261 Do YOU keep EVERY one of Jesus' words? YOU don't know that Amy "does not love God". YOU don't know that she has not repented and received forgiveness.

@yeeeaaawhooo i respect the fact that you have been a close follower of Christ but i have to disagree with you on what you say about Amy Grant. She simply sings of our God because of her love of him. I may not be as "mature" in my walk as you say you are because i am but a child but i have simple faith. A faith that allows me to see that, even though the theological parts of Christianity are important, the relationship with Christ in itself is much more important. that is the point of the song.
katflydiva96 7 months ago

Don't risk your eternity!!

TheGillebean 7 months ago

Rumbleroar97 7 months ago
@Kaviara1, will you tell us next that you, like Amy, love adultery more than you love God? And like the sadist god of this song, you love wailing and moaning, and pouring out miseries? All you hear is a pleasant melody? Then, you will love sharing Amy's fate in hell, which is what God says awaits such lawless children of disobedience [1John3:4, Matt7:23] who do not love Him [John14:21-24], and who keep on committing adultery despite what He says [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9, Rom7:3, 1Cor7:10-11].
yeeeaaawhooo 7 months ago
@yeeeaaawhooo yes, i hear a good song. i love it and i see that she is worshipping God. "sadist god"? thats missing the point. she means that Jesus loves to hear from us and be honest and open with him. and no, i don't love adultery. i love Jesus, and i know that im going to heaven. i've read those verses and i don't see their relevance here. Jesus didnt make you judge. as a Christian our job is to bring people to Christ, not to condemn them and push them away.
Kaviara1 7 months ago
oh yeah and to everyone bagging out Amy Grant..
BeckWasHear 7 months ago
I read one of the comments that basically said the meaning of this song is that God is happy when we are upset & going thru trials. That's absolutely not true.. it's saying that when we are going thru hard times, God rejoices in the fact that we look to Him for comfort instead of resorting to drugs, alcohol & other vices.. He wants you to trust in Him for ALL things. His love is neverending & overwhelming.. & all He asks from u is faith, repentance, belief and prayer.. Is that really so hard??
BeckWasHear 7 months ago

Are you an unbeliever like Amy, who must not believe God when He tells us she is bound for hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9], or surely she would repent -- unless Heb6:4-6 describes her!
yeeeaaawhooo 7 months ago
@Shashi11962, the kindest thing God could say to you would be Heb5:12-14. More likely, He needs you to hear Mark8:38. God was not casting stones when He told the adulteress to STOP committing adultery. He did not tell her to continue sexual immorality if it felt good, made her happy and rich. Instead, He promises such His wrath [1John3:4, Eph5:5, Matt7:23]. Without repentance, Amy will go to hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9]. The question is whether she's already beyond being able to repent [Heb6:4-6]
yeeeaaawhooo 7 months ago
@yeeeaawhooo no one is beyond being able to repent. And God was talking to all the other people judging the adulteress when he said Let he who is without sin cast the first stone YOU are not showing the love of God. You are being cruel and mean. Jesus was never cruel or mean to the people that hurt him. He loved them even more. We are called to be like God, so we should love her even more. You can not deside the fate of any man.

For anyone who is looking for a biblical explanation of the gospel and salvation, I would highly recommend checking out the scribd website that is listed on my channel. The scripture references given on there make it very clear and easy to understand.
DreamsofMajesty 7 months ago
@Tehkumsah, why don't you read for yourself, and study God's Word to see what He says? To answer your question, no, God doesn't forgive all sins; in fact clear Scriptural evidence shows there are points of no return before death [Rom1:28] Many YouTube sites explore the subject. Do you think satan could be forgiven? Did Judas ask forgiveness? Christ says blasphemy never is forgiven! And the God for Whom nothing is impossible says He will NOT restore apostates [Heb6:4-6] of which Amy may be one.
yeeeaaawhooo 7 months ago 5

(I.E. 1Cor 6:3)
