You should come to Centre College to do a show! UofL may not have a sense of humor, but only 100 miles away, you have a pretty large fanbase with the Centre students in Danville.
I performed at a place that called itself "the Biggest Comedy Club on Broadway" but they must have meant bigger than any place on Broadway in maybe... Wisconsin? This was a NYC show the guy arranging it was late, last minute they threw in an extra act so the rest of us had to pack 10 minute routines into 8 minutes and people seemed to think I was giving a political thesis because they appeared afraid that if they laughed I would be insulted. Nooners can be at 8PM in comedy clubs :p
Oh, god, that was painful to watch! Nothin' like playing for crickets and being ignored to really make you think you should have gotten that accounting degree.
Nooner at a college??? Try every fuggn sports bar gig I've ever played... 1 guy with a guitar vs. 20 big screens with sports or chicks wrestling in jello or HSN, painful way to pay the bills.
Could pretend you are just another teacher, teach them how the economy works. From wage slavery to ivory towers. Do a review of the Ferengi rules of acquisition. The purpose of life is to please the president. Be very serious about it. Warn kids for not paying attention. A teacher act then fail to win. lol
Wow, Rob...I'm from that area of Nebraska & tho I didn't attend that school...I would've gladly sat & watched...I would've given you a waaaay better intro too...I would've got some friends to stay and we'd have all laughed and cheered our asses off.
it would be awesome if you could do a comedy skit at my college. but that problem wouldn't go over...it's a private christian school. you're too funny to be allowed.
They also might have food access to throw it at you I had that happen at my school...and I didn't do stand up DX I did sometimes actually. My friends loved it cus we would play off of each other.
Sorry the UL students were so rude--I go there now and I think you're hilarious--I wish I had been at uni when you came. Thanks for sharing your wonderful sense of humor! :)
haha, they had a promotion show at my high school like that.. it was hell for the 15 year old kid who was also in our school to get some attention.. he should've seen this video before hand.
I think nooners(nice words!) should just be banned, because it raises suicides rates and career changes amongst performance artists XD
Awesome! I've been watching your Pachelbel rant on my favorites on and off for the last couple of years - I don't know how, but I missed the fact that you have your own, whole, channel! Wow! You're so funny - did you ever notice that truly funny people are always smart???? :)
Here at my university the runner-up of the second season of the local "American Idol/Pop Idol" show did a nooner. It was in front of the cafeteria. And I passed behind her on my way to get lunch. I was "backstage" so to say. It almost hurt to see that; the poor girl standing in front of about 30 people while hundrets streamed in the cafeteria. I can imagine what you must feel doing that. Strange how the atmosphere, location and situation can make a difference
Dude I used to be on the student activites committee that hired for those pathetic nooners. God, even we felt like failures. Yeah, here's this money, entertain the students the adminstration tells us. Students who will not show up for anything! Regardless of how much you promote it, the fame of the name, etc. I commend you for sticking it out.
My band used to do nooners and I thought it was a gas, but then we were a band... and we were outside. We can't do them now because we all have day jobs, and schools can't afford to hire bands anymore.
Good for you man. I hope you make it big. If that is what you want. You do well directly addressing the camera too. You look kind of like a geeky Ben Affleck. You should put that in the act.
Boy, you're nice! I've only just "discovered" you and you're one of my favourite comedians already! Your Pachelbel Rant had me in stitches as well as the Children's Song (I've got a two-year-old daughter and all you said was SO spot-on!). So thanks and keep up the good work! I'll be watching from this side of the ocean. Pam =)
I always knew a "nooner" involved getting screwed at noon; I just didn't know that was one of the ways, but hey, you are getting paid for it this way.
For what it's worth, I think you;re funny and you have become my new fave comedian...yes...you make me laugh and I recommend you to everyone I know. Keep it up Rob...you rule
Haha, the ending was funny...I don't think that students don't like Rob's performance...but they just probably have a lot on their mind to focus on anything else. Lol, bad environment for a show. At night clubs, people expect to see comedy performances; a place to relax. At school, people are too busy studying and a bunch of other stuff. XD
I always wondered, and now I know. That wold absoultely suck.. but I'd stay and watch your entire set, and make sure everyone around me did as well haha.
I like how you explain keeping your balance despite the difficulties of the Nooner. I wish you many nooner underwritten convertables in the future, though perhaps not so hard won as you described. After all, the form sounds hard enough without abuse!
Awesome. You sure know how to keep our attention for six minutes and seven seconds. Your stuff is even forwardable. I swear someday I'm gonna drag my ass out to one of your shows.
Lol, no joke, keeping my attention for 6 minutes with a youtube video is just short of absolutely incredible. Anything more than 5 and I often don't even bother to try to watch it, much less make it to the end, with only a few exceptions involving subscriptions I really like.
The thing is that when somebody goes to see a comic perform in a comedy club 9times out of 10 alcohol is involved so generally even the unfunny get a few laughs whereas when alcohol isn't involved any laughs earned are genuine and heartfelt from the audience...or maybe thats just me being hard to please?! hmm either way you're one funny guy so...please keep it up...and maybe treat yourself to a working holiday in the uk sometimes hint hint?!
