As amazing as this is, its nothing that none of us should be too impressed with. I know of so many Indian/Pakistanis who, aside from languages from the Subcontinent, speak English, German, French, Spanish, etc.

Why should it be surprising that this gentleman speaks Urdu? In fact, we should expect more Westerners (especially Americans) who should learn non-Western languages.

Who knows, maybe this 'ilm will lead them towards Islam. InshAllah.

@Saunga525 It's surprising because while we, in India and Pakistan, learn English for purely practical reasons- ranging from higher education to job opportunities; this guy seems to have learnt Urdu purely out of love for Pakistani and Islamic culture and literature. Besides, the level to which he has mastered the language is surprising. Many Pakistanis here seem to be saying that they can't speak their own national language as well as this guy.

He's proficient in 15 langs!! knowledge about another culture is the path to understanding and bringing together the world!! Wow, amazing, this person is a genius.

At first, I was expecting a heavy English accent, like how the Brits used to speak if they ever did. But Mr. Hanson has made me realize alot of my own faults. To take pride in your language, & for Pakistan to ever be a developed nation, it has to take pride in its own language, & value the people like Illama Iqbal & other poets and writers.

He is quite right when he said, Urdu is one of the most beautiful, rich and serene languages of the world.
