Hourglass works on first time through that room. Second time through, you have to draw the triforce.

Either you are at the wrong part in the game or you haven't talked to Zauz yet. This is the correct technique to draw the triforce when you come to this point in the game.

if you have 4 to five hearts and youre in the ocean temple and you see the red door that means you have to draw a hour glass on the door not the triforce sysmbol you havent gotten far you must complete the ghost ship first.

Hm, it could be that you haven't had the interaction with Zauz. When you talk to him, you need to speak with him, then look at the chart on the wall, then speak to him again. If that doesn't work, I don't know what else it might be.

You're required to talk to the sword smith a 2nd time directly after you look at his picture of the triforce. I know I talked to the sword smith and saved afterwards because I drew the picture of the triforce with the arrow on the map and the picture was still there at the door. So! Make sure you talk to the sword smith, look at the picture of the tri-force, turn back around and talk to the sword smith again, then leave. After I made it back to the door it worked the first time!

Ugh, I can't believe this. Phantom Hourglass is so far one of my least favorite Zelda games. The controls work like magic, but I am really disappointed in the puzzle layout; they constantly switch from very linear to excruciatingly vague. I like figuring out puzzles in Zelda by myself, but I've been needing help with some of the less obvious ones, like the one where you (SPOILERS) close the DS. It was ridiculous. Anyway, thanks for your help...
