I saw Little River Band around 2004. They were absolutely great -professionals in all aspects. Two members had been with the band from about 1978, but there were no original members of the band. The first LRB hit I ever heard was "It's A Long Way There" in 1976. None of the members in 1976 were still in the band when I saw them in '04, but still a darn fine show!
Love all the members of this phenomenal band (that is the REAL LRB), but I have to say that I personally feel that John Farnham was the best lead singer LRB every had! sorry to lonaticc
This is an LRB tribute band, not the real thing but a copy, Wayne did this song on the original LRB album and was asked by Gobles to perform this instead of Shorrock as an alternative singer, but Shorrock is still the original and best.
I wasn't saying Wayne didn't sing in LRB, I was saying he was NEVER an ORIGINAL member. IMO he basically STOLE Beeb Birtles, Glenn Shorrock & Goble's music, plus the title of the band. I don't think Wyane even ever worte a "top 10 hit" for LRB, if he even wrote any tunes for the band. He's not a bad singer, but lets face it, Beeb & Glenn are total PRO singers compare to the add-on amatuers Wayne, and that Farnham was nothing but a "legend in his own mind" ego type American Idol sounding ameteur

This IS NOT The Little River Band! This is nothing but a cover band that stole the name imo. Birtles,Shorrock&Goble IS The ORIGIANL Little River Band. I'd bet this cover band couldn't even dream of trying to do songs like Light Of Day or the guitar licks in It's A Long Way There. This cover band isn't bad, but it's not even close to being The Little RIver Band. How they can pretend they are is a sad joke. You want real talent, type in 'Birtles,Shorrock&Goble-Full circle' for original LRB.
Thank you so much for spending your time watching this wonderful clip of LRB. Deep down you must really enjoy their music.....otherwise why did you even look at it?
No Glenn Sharrock sang lead on most of their hits. Wayne Nelson sang a few (not this one, he was second vocal on this song) but Glenn was the MAIN man. More on youtube with Glenn, check them out!
No offense but history is a little askew. While it is true that in the released version of this song, Glenn was lead, the first version recorded and later released on the 2000 re-issue of "Greatest Hits" (also quickly pulled off the shelf) had Wayne singing through the whole song. Sir George Martin had originally wanted the version with Wayne singing to be on "Time Exposure".
From an article about "Night Owls"...Nelson also recorded the lead vocals on Time Exposure's second single, Take It Easy On Me, although the version released featured Glenn Shorrock on lead vocals, with Nelson on the middle bridge. "The straw that broke the camel's back was when George Martin picked my vocal for Take It Easy On Me," said Nelson.
"Capitol chose that as the second single. Glenn, before letting the masters go, said 'Wait a second, if Wayne's going to sing the first two singles on the album, what am I doing here?' That's how Take It Easy On Me ended up with a split vocal. Glenn sings the verse and I sing the middle eight."
Although I enjoyed some of the Wayne stuff Sharrock was correct...his version is superior to all of the Wayne Nelson versions that I have seen. Just the fact that they went on that tour in 1983 around the USA advertising the songs on the radio with Glenn on vaocals and here he wasn't even in the group anymore made me mad...and as I suspected they never again approached this level again... WTF was Sir George thinking? Surprising that he didn't tell John and Paul to take a backseat to George.
wayne nelson has a hell of set of pipes...awesome..band sounded fair though

When did Wayne Nelson join the band? Is he an original member?

I think Wayne joined LRB in 1982.. After Loggins and Massina went to the way side!

Saw them last nigt at the Canyon Club in Agoura.
Fantastic show and great vocals. the sound system could use some help, but I don't think that is the band's fault. Great song album!

Where are Glenn, Graeham and Beeb?
vinylman4533 3 years ago 3
They are a bunch of posers.
A band with NO!! original members, they are a great COVER!! band.
It is like four guys one day deciding to call themselves the Beatles. Then playing all of their music and imitating them.

Odd. As my memory serves me, this IS the original lead singer of this song. You might want to read up on your history a bit.
