@papasmuker bad connection at the motherboard base. How to test this? tap your laptop around the keyboard in a couple of spots watch the screen "fix" or worse if taping around dont make a difference then is video card or driver problem.
@papasmuker That's exactly what mine does. So do I replace the whole motherboard or resolder or is it a connection that must be replaced ? Thanks for the insight, that sounds exactly right.
I also have an HP and my computer does the same thing, but with white lines. Does anyone have any suggestions? I updated to BIOS and the video card. It still flickers!!
Here If You Can Reach Your Start Bar Search "System Restore" And Click A Date That It Never Happen And Your Computer Will Restore On That Date And Make Sure What Happen That Day Never Happens Again.
All your comments have been very helpful, Thanks to everyone who contributed. I've been so busy that I haven't even had a chance to pick the laptop up from a guy I know that was supposed to "specialize" with HP laptops. I think it may be the inverter as Jamesrschultz suggested, but the guy is trying to tell me that the screen is screwed, which makes no sense to me. I'm going to pick it up this coming week so we'll see! Thanks again guys
I had this same thing, it is the inverter. It's under the HP logo under the screen. It's a fairly cheap easy fix. It's called the inverter, you can get one like I did on Ebay.
your motherboard might have a crack. maybe in the video area. pressing on it board may putt he links together. most tech guys just place piece of cardboard in 1 area to hold the board down. any other questions just ask.i repair laptops so its easy.

That's what you get for buying off eBay, not trying to be an ass. Try getting a new video card, otherwise the first post was very helpful.

Hey, y'know I got a laptop off ebay. Two infact and neither of them had any problems at all.
One of them was a very old P4m machine, described as needing repair but worked wonderfully.
I could perhaps have been lucky though I don't think this comment will have much brevity regarding the above situation.

try and see if you can reconnect/adjust the ribbon monitor cable in the back of monitor (it might be loose)
connector should be under the panel where the hotkeys are
also try and see if you can get a compressed air can and blow it into the exhaust fan.
