  • does this sound good on a basswood guitar?

  • DiMarzio or Seymour Duncan?

  • @bobby3501 I have a long history of using the DiMarzio SD so I would say for a more rocked up even metal sound I'd go for that, however if you want a more vintage sound with a bit of poke then the SDunc custom is the one.

  • i really can't get a good idea of how the pickups sound because all you're doing is playing the same thing for 35 seconds. play some chords. do some cleans. do some palm muting. play slow and fast. change things up so we get a better idea of how the pickups respond to different playing techniques

  • @treadsuit Ha! you're getting a free demo and then you are complaing ? I do appreciate what you are saying. However, to me the need to change a bridge pickup has always been about getting the right tone/feel/amplifier reaction to the pickup during soloing. I'm not offereing a service you paid for here so just take it 'as is' and if it's not what you are looking for then move on. Thanks for watching.

  • I like that licks! and sound too!

  • Awesome tones and playing Matt! Just ignore these comments about scales .... ;-) Best - Jonas

  • wait man.. you can play all that but you don't know the scales? that's sad

  • @darianNK why is it sad ? - scales are a starting point or default fallback but they don't make a great solo. I've never needed to know what they are but I probably play some. When I started out there were no books or videos you just watched and listened and were creative.

  • @Mattukgtr man, scales are really important, because all you played in the video is a scale, and if there are no scales maybe a song would sound weird. Even chords in a music is a pattern of a scale

  • can i install a PAF joe and super distortion on any les paul(probably les pauls from japan) with a metal cover on it?

  • @royalguard08 If you check the DiMarzio website to see if these pickups are available with metal covers. I don't think they are as they are usually open coil and have hex pole pieces on both coils which is not usually a covered design.

  • would this be good for death/ thrash metal?

  • That's what a Les Paul should sound like! Awesome pups gotta find some of these... It's a bit hard in my country...

  • what scale do you use for that "noodling"? :P :)

  • @BDagys Sorry I just play I don't know names of scales!

  • @BDagys ....It looks like 'A' to me, I'm quite sure.

  • @Nickofaballooni pretty sure he ment what TYPE of scale -__-

  • @BDagys its all minor pentatonic with minor fifth ("the blues scale")

    you're a pro

you've totally persuaded me to replace my bridge pickup on my Ibanez S770FM

and if I may ask you a question

    does the sustain really increase?

If yes, how much does it increase?

  • @BlackWidow8492 - the physical sustain does not increase because of a pickup it is a function of the guitars woodwork and hardware. The pickup, however does enable the guitar to push a valve amp harder the result is usally some degree of compression then as notes decay they become amplified as this natural compression is released! The result is more sustain. More output from the pickup enables this cycle to more easily occur. So it depends what you put the guitar through.

  • @Mattukgtr - thanks for the quick response! :D

oh, yes, I didn't mean the physical sustain, of course

which do you prefer if you were me: a ToneZone, or SuperDistortion?

well, I play rock and sometimes metal but I really need and like a really fat and the one with more compression too

    thank you once more :D

  • @BlackWidow8492 I've never used a ToneZone so I realy can't comment - I just read the blurb on the DiMarzio website and, if it can be believed, the ToneZone should be 'fatter' than SDHB. It also describes the SDHB as being 'thick' sounding. So what is the difference between 'fat' and 'thick' ? There is an ask DiMarzio section on the uk website you could see what they say.

  • @Mattukgtr - oh okay, thanks :D

  • Would this humbucker produce a good sound for say metal playing?

I dont like the metal tones nowadays, too clean and not processed.I really like these humbuckers though and play in D Standard majority of the time.

  • that tone is killing me in every of your video ! Awesome.

  • plzz tell me wehere to find a tab for the riff you just did ... i fucking loved it plzplzplzplz :D

  • @AlochEX - sorry! there are no tabs of that - it's just me noodling!

  • @Mattukgtr aaaaa damn, you see i wanna learn great rock licks and DUDE i swear its a great lick

  • @Mattukgtr The video has a pretty good view of his fingers and all the licks he played were in the A minor pentatonic scale.

Sit down with a guitar and you should be able to work out the licks if you give it some time...I agree they are very cool

  • I went through some of your tests and ... they all seem to be very alike (and good ones). But I think it is because the Line 6 defines the tone here and pickups must be extremly different to really hear what they are. But I might be wrong ... Greetings !

  • @ibek1200 I think you're right. I did use a tone that would lean towards cleanish with a weaker pickup but yet breaks into drive when pushed but it's still not ideal. Of course the guitars have differences also. The Ar300 has a maple neck but apart from that they are all maple capped mahogany body with mahog neck. However the Tokais have abr-1 style bridges and aluminium tailpieces - this also changes the tone.

  • can yo post a little tab of this? awesome!! at least a part please.....or where can i go on the internet to fins tabs like this ?

    thanks
