  • Is it possible to make this knife molle compatible?

  • Does anyone know where to get a replacement sheath for a decent price mine was stolen?

  • What grade of steel is this

  • Mr Nutnfancy, why do you always speak about splitting logs? I was in the Swdeish special forces and I was taught to conserve energy as well as resources. I was also taught that as soon as you have a fire of some size it is fine to mix dry and wet wood. We burned of the logs no splitting or sawing. Saves a lot of energy. If it is colder then 0°C the wood is also probably very dry and there is definitely no need for splitting whatsoever. What is the reason for all your extra work? Regards from SWE

  • im pissed...i just get mad when i look at this knife!!lol its an awsome knife that i cant get becuse of the price in norway witch is 235$!!! :-(((

  • @21creed That sucks; I could buy that and most of my other camping gear for that price.

  • @DanielJosephTV yea dude... the recon 1 is allmost 200$! ive been buying gear sense i was 10 and ive got not much at all and ive spendt almost a 1000$ bro :-((( and thats the VERY high value gear that nutnfancy reviews :-( its good stuff but DAAAAMN bro its a lot of money for a 15 year old XD

  • Nutnfancy love u but damn cheaper product reviews pleeeeeaaase lol

  • can u put a tek-lok on it?

  • Just got mine in the mail 57$! Great blade cant wait to use it.

  • Paid 120 for it. Took it back because I was horrified of getting a mark on this beautiful piece of work.

  • Looks like a sweet knife. Really glad Nutn did a review of this. I looked on Cold Steels website and it says they are selling it now for $124.99........ so idk when on there 0-o

  • If the SEALS use it than it's good enough for me.

  • in norway this knife costs about 220$ :-((( that cinda sucks... and it dosent help if im ordering it from USA becuse the shipping makes it just as expensive :-(

  • hey ntun could you do a review on the gi tanto, i heard some good reviews about it

    cheers

  • @oMG123aZomBie I did a 5 way hack test video with the GI tanto as one of the knives, I love that blade, unfourtunatly right after i got mine they released them with the Secure ex sheath for the same price !!!!!! Both the SRK and GI tanto have a "false" upper edge on them, all I did was make a few passes with a diamond dust sharpening rod, and they cut paper. just the coating on the blade is stopping it from being a double edge knife, put some mcnett gun wrap on the GI handle for a solid grip

  • Hey quick comment when you were showing how to sharpen the knife with that rod you were going in the direction of the blade. Have to pull the blade away to get super razor sharp. Pull the knife in the opposite direction of cutting direction

  • Isn't this the same knife as the Fallkniven S1?

  • @tttpietje560 No, they just look similar.

  • "having a sharp knife is like having gas in your car" haha hell yea

  • Please ask nutnfancy to review the new Cold Steel Leatherneck. I think he'll really like it.

  • I got this knife for my deployment to Iraq. It was fantastic for cutting everything I took to it, the most reliable one was the seat belts I cut with it. The sand did take off some of the finish but like your video said the holes on the side of the sheath are perfect for 550 cord. I wove the sheath to my IOTV and it didn't move once. Great video and a great knife!

  • Nutnfancy would you recommend/go with the SEAL Pup Elite or the SRK if you had to choose one. I love both of them and I have a SEAL Team Elite which I love but I have seen so many good videos of the SRK from the cold steel website and from your videos. I've also seen just as many for the SEAL Pup Elite.

  • cold steel's a joke, don't waste your money

  • @CanadianKnifeGuy every cold steel i have had has been a good knife

  • i see a lot of ppl on youtube and few i read on some forums that this knife develops some form of wiggle on the handle as they are used on batoning and stuff outdoor....how does yours holding nutn?

  • The SRK is good in cutting smaller and thinner lengths of wood.

  • is he a knife collector?

Oh, and I was thinking of buying a seal pup elite. Any opinions on it?

  • im getting the

    -srk

    -true flight thrower

    -perfect balance thrower

    -trench hawk

    -sure strike shurikens

    -gi tanto

    all by cold steel

  • I have been looking for a medium sized survival knife and I was thinking of the SRK or Seal Pup untill I found out they were not made in the U.S do u now of a good survival blade that is made in the U.S.

    Thanks

  • @WillTT19 ka bar usmc

  • @WillTT19 KaBar.

  • The Navy SEAL dive teams use this knife.

  • I have several cold steel products and the sheaths seem to come with varing degrees of 'tightness' as far as holding the knife in when upside down. IF they are too loose, simply apply a clamp (I used a vise grip) to the general area that serves to hold he blade in with pressure for several hours or overnight, and your problem is solved. Of course you have to experiment as to how tight. Just the opposite for those sheaths that are too tight - prop them open for a while and exoerument. Good luck

  • The knife on the box is different to the knife itself :l

  • @Weebs911 No its not...

  • whats LBE?

  • @Petegrin1 "Load-bearing equipment"

  • I recently had this knife on a survival outing... Cut down a tree and split the wood just fine... No chips etc. It sharpens right back up and looks great. I love this knife for light weight carry.

  • trying to get one in carbon v still looking

  • "Having your knife sharp is like having gasoline in your car." YES

  • i gave 190 usd for the srk in norway.

  • @snakeeyes3211 I hate Cold Steel. I actually have 5 of these SRK's in Carbon v. It is actually a Camillus knife, Cold Steel just put their name on it. I bought up a pile of them a few years ago, SRK's, Recon's, UWK's. The prices are nearing $200 for them now.

  • Is a screw supposed to fit in that hole at the end of the handle?

  • @IMFDB thats a hole for a lanyard.

  • we'll just grab this rat 3 cause it's handy haha nutn i think you have a knife handy whenever wherever

  • hey man awesome video. after seeing this i really want to buy the SRK! do you know where i can get one for a good price? i live in holland btw, i hope that's not going to make things a lot more difficult.

  • I use the ESEE 6 for deployment.

  • durable, strong as hell, goes with me every day hike

I have beaten the CRAP out of it, literally, abused it, and it is still my favorite lite survival blade. I have batoned on the actual handle, and it is fine, you need years of abuse before re-handling the knife

  • Hey NUTS! Missed your vids man ultra helpful. Wondering about buying a do everything knife for camping / hiking. I've got a laplander folding saw for firewood, theres only 3 of us, so wouldnt be making huge fires or shelters. My choices have fallen to CS SRK (but I'm worried about the steel of it, never used it before) the EKA Nordic W11 (my favourite) and the F1 obviously, but the most expensive. Whats the plan batman?

  • Which knife Is better Cold Steel SRK or The KABAR Next gen. Knife

  • @ScottBw23 Did you see the Cold steel leatherneck similar t o the Ka bar but full flat grind, full tang ,machined butt cap looks like a better all around knife for survival. The flat grind will work better for wilderness over the Ka Bar and still works well for combat .

  • Hi Mr. Nuntfancy, I just caught wind of the new coldsteel leatherneck knife. I would love to see a review of it compared to other military knives like the srk. I would love to hear you talk about steels, uses, and all that jazz. Man I'm getting all excited just thinking about it. I'll be checking your channel daily. Thanks again Mr. Fancy.

  • so what would you recommend? SRK or KABAR?

  • anybody live in canada, cuz im going to get this knife(SRK) or the sog, for camping, survival in the woods for very long. I dont know if canada allows knives to be in sheaths. Is a sheath concealment? if i wear it on my belt? cuz canada does not allow knives to be concealed

  • @ShaolinRambo for camping, it shouldnt matter. Why would you carry a SRK in public?

  • i think you mis-read the scale, it read 11.2 for the trail master didn't it?

  • can u use it upside down or did u find it doesnt work that well?

  • Dude, the little white fuzzy on the left side of the blade is killing my OCD. I got so excited when you were running your thumb on the blade, I thought, 'Alright that bitch is about to be gone.'

Then it split into two and i said, "Fuck!"

The moral of the story is that Nutn got me grounded but makes a great review.

  • damn I just got mine in the mail today and it doesnt lock in at all....if it wasnt strapped and it were to turn upside down it will fall out like rocks in a bucket

  • 65$ CND Amazon April 10

  • @JST1324 yeah it gone, only was is listed for 108.00....a guy names caledon on EBAY sells them for 80....

  • @TheEmarbe no its 108 on the Cold Steel website on Amazon its 65 dollars.

  • @JST1324 lol got a link? when I search SRK in amazon I get three listings, cheapest one is for 108.....

  • @TheEmarbe

Got my srk off amazon for 67. yes its a real cold steel lol

  • @cybernetamd no you didnt, lol a link for proof would make your point.

  • @TheEmarbe

I'm not trying to make a point bud. It was that price at the time, cause I sure as hell wasnt paying a minimum of $150 order from Cold steel directly. Stop being a troll and get over yourself. I bought it for that price and I'm happy with the SRK.

  • @cybernetamd how am I the troll? your hurtin ass was the one replying to month old comments....plus you're full of shit....

  • awesome videos, i was looking for a good knife for deployment as well but i'm not even talking to a recruiter until next year, i just need a knife that will keep a razor sharp edge and is very very heavy. please help, also i need to know can you bring in your'e own handgun? iv'e got a really nice 500 bull that i want to carry.

  • Does Nutn like the Cold Steel SRK or Ontario SP17 Quartermaster better for woods use?

  • I've had a Carbon V SRK for something like a decade and have nothing but good to say about it. It's dressed and skinned a couple deer, sliced camp food, whittled tent pegs, delimbed branches, pried some Sterno cans and who knows what other tasks. The edge has held well between sharpenings and never chipped. The only improvement I could think of would be some jimping at the top where handle meets blade. I can't vouch for the new ones but my Carbon V SRK has been great.

  • What do you think of the AUS-8A version?

  • Ontario sp46 or Cold Steel SRK???????

  • Comment removed

  • It looks a military knife to me...

  • are M-Tech knives any good? I have a few but am not able to really test them

  • sooo hows it doing upside down?

  • haha still had the tenacious cut

  • lol 12:42

  • hey how is the SRK doing over the time?? as this video is alomost 3 years old, is the SRK performing as well as it was when your first go it?

  • The Recon Tanto can chop straight through a human neck when my friend was on deployment. Rifle went down, only the tanto was in reach, so it just hacked straight through with a arm full of adrenaline. Carbon V model, not this new stuff, its not cool.

  • Hello nutn/veri i was wondring about a knife. I plan on doing backpacking, camping, fishing and hunting. I would also like i as a self defence knife. Would yo coose Cold Steel SRK vs. Sog Team leader

  • The clip on the box is way more pronounced, and it looks hollow ground on the box.

  • hey fancy,knife question

would you rather carry the SRK as a day hike knife or an original camillus cqb?

  • i just bough this knife and i was out in the forest and was camping with this knife. it worked great but the tip actully got a little bended. and i bearly used it at all...

  • i am by no meening a pro when it comes to knifes but i Think it not comes shaving sharp cuz it will chip if it is to sharp

  • I liked my SRK, until I found the SEAL Pup. HAd t ore handle my SRK after about a year of daily usage in Iraq. Didn't really hold an edge well, but pretty good and enough to suit me.

  • I picked one up today at a gun show I got it for $50 with no haggling..I was so happy

  • the thing about thumb ramps is that if one push stab too hard, there are chances of fracturing the thumb due to the postion

  • Hey Nutn!

What knife would you recomand me to buy, the fällkniven a1 or the cold steel srk with aus 8 steel? Please answer here or on my channel

    sry for bad english

  • Comment removed

  • really looks like the fällkniven a1 or a2

  • Hi Veri, I may have asked this on another video and if I did then I'm sorry but. What does Nutnfancy think of TOPS fixed blade knives?

  • which is better? the srk or a kabar?

  • i made my own cold steel srk in carbon v from blank blade i got online and its awesome blade. great size for whatever you throw at it. steel quality is excelent as far as i was able to test and i love my micarta handles even better than my recon scouts kraton handle.

  • I just ordered the SRK in San Mai III and got a good price. This is a knife to keep on your belt, I'll keep my Cold Steel SK-5 Gurkha Kukri strapped to my pack, and my CRKT M-16-14Z (as always) in my pocket. Keep doin what you do my man, and always keep it nutnfancy.

  • I dropped the secure knife sheath down a notch so that the latch is closer to the top of the sheath for easy closer and more security when mounting it the left shoulder.

  • thanks for the rewiew nutn-hi veri

  • I just got one for Christmas!

  • What does Nutnfancy think about the Cold Steel "Outdorsman". I have an older model in AUS 8. The newer version is San Mai III. Which steel do you think is better?

  • Okay, I surrender. Every time I want an intricate and accurate review I look up your reviews so I subscribed.

What do you think of the BK 7? Or a esee RC 5 when compared to this knife?

I realize the esee is a higher price point but just wondering.

  • Comment removed

  • cold steel is the sharpest out the box than any other brand, either urs isn't new or it's a fake or defected. most cold steels can easily shave the hair off your arm outt of the box and cuz a finger with just pressure, no friction.

  • @boyplays24 I guess the one Nutn is reviewing is used / fake / defective as well.

  • Forgot to add that it did ok on the paper cut test afterwards, but I didn't sharpen it before so it had the crappy factory edge. Im not complaining after all the wood I cut. Gotta try and stay in the real world...blades get dull.

  • Got the SRK about a month ago and finally got some time to thrash on it. Batoned through tons of hardwood at about 25-30 degree temps. Got the sick looking scrapes on it and only noticed one super small chip on the tip. Didn't do any prying but im sure it would do well within reason (I try not to pry with my blades). The handle is awesome no vibrations and super tacky. The SRK just rocks especially since it only costs $65!!

  • Cold Steel SRK in Aus8 vs the Becker BK7?

SOG Seal Pup Elite vs Becker BK7?

  • @wmc1982 The BK7 is my favorite knife for heavy camping or survival chores, but I think it would suck for defensive use.

  • @Brickman93 I would recommend the San Mai III if you would use it alot, but if you want the knife because it's cool/fine (Good as well), I would recommend the AUS 8A. If you use an AUS 8A version alot, then the black powder coating will get alot of scratches and it doesn't look that pretty, but the San Mai III would look good as new because there is no black powder coating on it...

But...It's up to you, both has the same great quality!

  • Is that the same nick you got from the other "Ugly" video? How many people notice that?

  • when puting knives into a survival kit or usk or something of the such, would u rather have an srk, or a kabar combat knife? im leaning towards the srk just cause thats wat the seals use. i suspect they use the srk over the kabar for a reason, but wats ur opinion on the subject?

  • Okay, you're right. I have a Cold Steel Recon Tanto, and i'm not impressed of the sharpness of it. My Recon Tanto is not as sharp as the tantos in other demonstrating videos. I did exactly as you, ran my thumb on the edge with a little pressure and it didn't even do anything to my thumb. But I will make it sharp soon...

  • I see the Tenacious cut!!!

  • Just got this over the weekend. Well worth the 90 bucks. I love it. Great addition to anyone's survival back pack in my opinion.

  • hrm my wife has this knife. it was gifted to her in iraq. It seems to have a different finish than the one in this video. Oh... it's not AUS8 either. There are 2 versions? I know about the San Mai one.

Her knife has a rougher finish more like in the bed of a pickup. Not super rough but it sure doesnt have that sheen in this vid. It also says it's a Carbon V steel. What's the difference?

  • @hyonjun The handle has a diamond pattern also. Not a studded pattern like this one.

  • i think it's kool but funni that nutn says the Trailmaster is the cousin of the SRK and it's the bigger brother of the Recon Scout heheheh...adds a little bit more charisma to the knives

  • What's your opinion of A2 vs. San Mai 3 VG1? I've been working over an A2 version for over a year now and was wondering if it's worth investing in the Upgraded steel. I know you have a lot of experience with Cold Steel so if you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them.

  • when you were comparing, isnt the other knife a recon scout not a trailmaster?

  • do you think CS SRK san mai 3 is comparable to fallkniven a1

  • Comment removed

  • hey man i am wanting to know which survival knife would be good to start out with? i want to start collecting knives but dont know were to star. THANKS.

  • Benchmade CSK11 VS KABAR

  • On the pic i clicked on to load this vid it looked like it had a digital camo finish on the handle is this true?

  • @HondaTRXrider19 No, they dont have anything like that, it would be sick if they did though.

  • Bought an SRK (based on this video) for day hikes & camping. Great value, great quality, love the blade!

  • Got the SRK today and I am very impressed. Im a lefty so the sheath being able to be switched over is awesome. Can't wait to get it in the field!

  • For anybody that has this knife...does the knife rattle around in the sheath? I was gonna take mine hunting, but it rattles around.

  • I love the SRK... I'll take 2 in aus8 and 1 in sam mai 3... I would even like to use the sam mai 3 for an EDC blade... The 2 aus8 blades for LBE systems...

    Great video Mr.Fancy...

  • Good review. Thanks!

  • dont like the steel but its a fair price and looks like a great knife still

    much appreciated nutn

    kind regards

  • Hi nutn!

I'm in the scouts over here in Sweden and i'm looking for a nice, easy to use blade mostly for cutting.I'm also intrested in the looks of the blade, for example I love the looks of the Srk and dislike the looks of the kabar.I'ts just how I roll.

But now to the point, Is there any knife you would say matches what I'm looking for?I do have some money to spend on this blade but I want it to hold for a long time.

It can't weight to much to becuse we hike really far.

    Best regards from sweden

  • Hey,

I'm looking for a knife that is going to be used for backpacking and combat/military use. So i want to be able to take my own personal knife with me. I do some narly backpacking too. Weeks away from home with little if any sharpening opertunities. So it needs to stay sharp. But I also do a lot of diving so i need it to be water resistant too. I have a short Ka-Bar right now...but its not very waterproof. I've been looking at the seal pup elite and srk. your opinion?By the way love the vids

  • Oh yeah and i'm fine with spending some money if i have to. As long as it holds up i'll save up and just get it. I just want your opinion on the best suited knife for what i'm looking for. I've just been looking at those 2 but i'm willing to look at other stuff as well.

  • Youre a loser

  • Hey Veri,

COLD STEEL SRK VS SOG SEAL PUP ELITE

I need a knife to use for backpacking and camping. I don't do serious snow camps or anything, just some cutting wood, opening packages, possible defense scenario. I am not able to sharpen very well but i will learn to use a fine stone for sharpening, so a nice factory edge will be nice.

Which knife do you think will be more useful for me and will serve me well for the rest of my life as a small survival knife, camping knife, and backpacking knife?

  • @jambaboy789 Nutn says the SOG. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Thanks!

  • @nutnfancy

Voted for SRK - no serration, no long dull safe part, easy to get sharp with one sharpening stone (no serration)

  • @nutnfancy

Voted for SRK - no serration, no long dull safe part, easy to get sharp with one sharpening stone (no serration)

  • For the SRK mounting system. It's ambidex, you can lower the attachment down so that the clasp is close to where the knife sheath begins. This makes is doubly easy to carry the knife upside down on the left shoulder. It works, I've done it. The snap was OK, but didn't trust it. Just an FYI

  • @jambaboy789 Mate take your pick its an individual choice. I've found that you can make do with what you've got regardless. Despite having a good collection of knives I never leave home without one tool though my leatherman. Very happy with the SRK I found it a great steel to work and keep though the sheath does tend to rattle when I carry if thats a concern I bowhunt and didn't like the noise so opened it up and added wadding.

  • @jambaboy789 Neither. Neither is big enough to chop wood, or baton wood. Im guessing you're looking for a knife that isn't very large but can still perform tasks with authority. Check out the Coldsteel recon scout. 7" blade thats 5/16ths.

just my 2 cents in a world of inflation.

  • people say this knife is nearly indestructible but i've seen some pictures of the blade broken off the tang on some sites. also that destruction video broke the blade off the tang in 2 hits. is this a good knife or not?

  • @FlamingFury5 i think that might be due to CS using AUS8 steel rather than Carbon V now

  • I got one of these years ago. Had a nylon sheath back then. Anyway, been a good knife in the field.

  • nutn? i am a young hiker and am not huge finacaly... what do you recomend?

  • what hapend to your thumb?

  • Lol you have so many knives that you end up bringing about 5 different blades on to the table to review on knife, and then use the smallest one as a pointer for the other knives. "Oh wait, by way of comparison here's my cold steel voyager, my glock field knife and, you know I think I'll just dump em all on the table"

  • Which would the folks on here reccomend? A regular plain-edge KA-BAR utility knife with a kraton handle or a SRK? I've seen lots of forums about this dilemma, but I would still like advice. I'm primarily going to use it for outdoor wilderness/survival things, as well as hunting (maybe. I would probably use my drop point BK-2 for that). What would you all on here reccomend? I want a good clip point blade to have at my disposal.

  • @bkozak2 I like my SRK in AUS8A

  • are cold steel knives made in america and what state are they made in because some of there price are to cheap so it kinda of scares me

  • what would u say about sog gov tac ?which one do you think is better?

  • Mine broke from two throws against a pine tree. They sent me a new one but first tried to accuse me of mistreatment. When they saw the break point, they admitted that it wasnt supposed to happen. Whats up with that? By my judgement its a bit weak.

  • @PilgrimsOfPleiades

Maybe its not meant to be a throwing knife.

  • @PilgrimsOfPleiades i think bertocaster is right ... throwing knifes are for throwing , tactcals fo tactical jobs, edc blades to easly go with u every day , everybody has different opinions on it but a knife like this isn't meant for throwing , as much as this isn't an edc knife cause of size , weight and bulkyness ...

if u wanted to throw with the knife , why didn't u buy a nice cold steel thrower then ?

  • that is a very nice looking knife.

  • i don't like the distance between the handle and the cutting edge...

  • Did you ever do another review of the SRK after testing it in the woods? I didn't see it in your videos.

  • i placed an order from Brigade Quartermasters when i was in iraq and they sent me this knife free for ordering while deployed. its a strong ass knife and i love this fucker. looks bad ass too.

  • if u dont like the price u can always go to amazon.com because they buy their products for the produser

  • Ha ha ha ha! At 7:08 "To me, having a knife sharp is like having gasoline in your car!" That's a great quote.

  • i just got this i love it. when you got it did you find that it had a good edge at first then with only a little bit of work it lost that razor sharpness i did. dont get me wrong i love it and its sharp but not as sharp as it came.Btw love ur vids you do great work nutnfancy!! keep em coming dude

  • I'd Duracoat the shit outta this blade and table and probably carpet too...

Real soldiers actually ask You to Give them Opinion about knives ?

  • Comment removed

  • @11134566778 if you have a rock use it, its all about the advantage (i think)

  • I just looked this it is a very good review, its a good knife just really found out about it I had seen it for years but it just kind of blended into the background but I am seriously thinking about getting one.

  • @bluedeathva also I would state that the company states that "SRK is currently standard issue to SEALS undergoing BUDS training" not being a SEAL by any sense of the word I can only take there word for it.

  • Nutn just a trick I like to save some moolah when attaching a knive to my gear, zipties. I know it isn't too legit but just some white zipties can be RIT dyed Coyote Brown, OD, and all your favorite colors. And then simply ziptie it to the MOLLE webbing. Again i know it isn't too pretty but it gets the job done!

  • @NullusxVotum I do the same thing with zipties.and works great, through a couple in you pack in case of breakage. I don't dye the white ones. I simply buy the black ties.

  • @campcomp00 They are Extremely useful for just about anything. I have Jerry-Rigge
