you can see the whole documentary for free on youtube people, the name is: What the bleep do we know. I loved the documentary, We can't see or hear the dimensions above but we can FEEL them. God is great. Peace to you all ;)
It doesn't matter whether or not this video is accurate in describing the world of 2D. What he is trying to accomplish through this video is to show us that there is absolutely no way for us to understand or perceive a dimension that lies outside of our perspective. Instead of criticizing the fact that 2D couldn't really exist as an object, think about how the person in 4D would say the same about us, and we about him.
Ignoramus here, in my opinion 2D can only exist as a concept. Without the 3rd dimension, it can never materialize. I mean, if there's no height, how can it have a mass or weight? Or even see it? Yes we can draw 2D objects and a paper and see it, but no, actually what you draw on paper is 3D. The lead that your pencil left on the paper is 3D on microscopic level. If you can only be as small as a molecule, you would see the big humps of lead on the paper that formed the drawing. So it's still 3D.
@frankie6092 I see what you mean, but then you'd have to ignore the fact that shadows exist. They're a perfect 2D projection, even if they are skewed on the surface they're projected on.
@Lazy0Waffle But isn't it the same thing? I mean shadow exists not because it exists as a something that has matter or weight but it exists as something we can only perceive that there's an absence of light in that surface. It's like saying the absence of light exists on that surface.
@frankie6092 It's true that nothing 2 dimensional can have matter or weight, but 2D isn't just a concept, it applies to anything that doesn't have a height. It's not the same criteria as 3D. You're right that 2D things aren't physical objects, but it's not just a concept.
@Lazy0Waffle I get that. But that only means shadow exists as an attribute or property of that surface which tells us that light doesn't exist on that area. If it only indicates an attribute or a state of another existing object then it doesn't exist as another independent object but just an attribute of something else. Therefore it really doesn't exist as an objective reality but it merely describe an attribute or a state of an object. I just think it is not different from a concept.
@frankie6092 I understand what you mean now, and you're right that 2D things cannot be objects. Nothing in 2 dimensions would be able to have any weight or mass, but that's only from a 3D perspective. We wouldn't have 4 dimensional attributes either, being 3D objects, but we still exist, just on a lower dimensional plane.
@Lazy0Waffle that's not true, quarks are 0D objects and they have mass. BTW, weight is a function of mass i.e your weight(F) is: F = mg. where m is your mass and g is local acceleration of free fall. So there is no "weight or mass" in your context. You can have a mass without weight, but not the other way around.
But wouldn't he kill her by lifting her out of her universe? All the processes that support her body would be flatland processes and he just goes and rips her right out into his "superior" dimension. And in flatland, wouldn't a digestive tract cut a being clear in two, making it fall apart? Ridiculous!
If I get to choose my next life I will be a 4th dimensional being living as close as possible to the 3rd dimension which I could jump in and out of, and terrorize the universe, and live like a god,
In the 3 dimensional world, a 4 dimensional being would be invincible. Imagine getting pierced by a 1 dimensional guy. He is thinner than a 10000000000000000th of an atom, and can't harm a 2d or 3d being. This would always be the case with interactions between dimensions.
This is Great! All you hater and nay-sayers can move on!. How do I know this is great? My 5 year old boy just watched this and I got to see instant enlightenment and learning. That's why! So, if a 5 yr old boy can now understand better the world, Kudos to you Captian Dimensions! Soar on and teach! Now to work on getting him to clean his room.
@mavericdragon your 5 year old son understands this better because he isn't yet brainwashed too much by television, school, religion, society, ... so he is much more openminded than most adults. Let us hope your boy won't get too narrow minded as he grows up and as he will be told that it is forbidden to not believe beyond reality. greets to you guys ;)
this is actually totally wrong in 2 dimensions there is no space at all not even for a thin sliver this flat example takes our 3 dimensional perspective keeps its 3 dimensional and just flattens it but even if its 1 atom thick its still 3d.
@Danster82 still, you could say that there is no space at all in the third dimension, because we are infinitely small in the fourth dimension (if there is one).
Thats all you dumbasses got outa that? Well, if you cant beat em, join em. if I saw an old guy wearing that, i'd think he would be on some serious shit

There aren't 2d creatures that we know of like the ones in this video. So how would their be 4D creatures that're watching over us ?

That kid's got mind power. He will use it to avoid cleaning his room.
I think mind power's a better term than intelligence.

Those 2d beings should have no height at all. But in this video, they still has a little height. That is not correct.

technically your viewing a 3d image from a 2d screen: your monitor

Think of it this way: The 2d objects produce 3d light, creating the illusion of being 3d. Like that 0 dimensional light bulb in the other vid.

@TechnoTime1 Okay, just replace the word "space" in my comment to "thickness". There, it's all fixed. Happy now?
