Sega got killed because they pushed things too fast. Sega CD= 1st CD platform Dreamcast=online. people weren't on board with the new technology.

The Dreamcast seems to have been capable of using games which I compare the graphics to that of an Xbox or Ps3 for some games. Pretty awesome. I wouldn't know, though. My oldest console was a Sega.

I still remember the excitement I had when I bought Dreamcast back in 99. My jaw dropped when I played Sonic. Buying 360 or PS3 never made me that happy.

Gosh people , yes ps2 beat dreamcast because of Dvd get over it, when adults were faced with the decision of what to choose it was get a dreamcast and buy more fucking games for my kids. Or get a ps2 which the kids can still use to play their ps1 games, I can use the ps1 controls also, and wow I can use it with my tv and watch dvds! Don't get me wrong the dreamcast kicked ass but the above states why it died

the DC was easily one of the best consoles I ever owned - I still played games on mine 2-3 years AFTER the console "died". which no system for me, other then the SNES, had that kinda lasting appeal.

I miss the days when Sega was going head to head with Nintendo before Playstation came along. 16 bit wars is still my favorite time as a kid. I love the Genesis and Saturn!

The gamecube didn't have a DVD player and the xbox couldn't play DVDs without some shit you had to buy, yet both consoles are competing with playstation to this day (wii/360/ps3). So the cause of sega's withdraw from consoles has to be from something else, not it's lack of DVD.

Great system, great games, great ideas........horrible timing of release was the death of it. Technology wasn't ready for some of the stuff they wanted to do and then the PS2 put the final nails in the coffin upon release.
