  • I get some Chirstian meaning in their songs (i.e The cave). I love it. =]

  • i love this song they did a great job

  • I dont get why folks who are nonchristians would spend time to go & listen to a worship song, & then talk about how they dont believe in a God or a higher power. I mean I personally consider myself as a christian & I swear sometimes myself. I dont do so to displease God, but I do repent & ask for forgiveness. But the point is, if you dont believe in God, can you just not waste youre time arguing with other christians here. Its pointless. This is our faith. We still love God either way. God Bless

  • Okay, that crowd needs to hush up, damn

  • I am not a christian , but this song is absolutly beautifull .

  • What I like about Mumford & Sons is that they're so real and that is reflected whole heartily in their music too. If they do have swearing in any of their songs it's to help convey the real down to earth feelings of the song, in an uncensored way. They are not fakers hiding behind censorship.

  • PRAISE JESUS! <3

  • News flash: Christians drop the F-bomb, too.

  • mumford is amazing and that means there is nothing to argue about

  • Silly meaningless debats on Christianity...

Why don't you just Listen and enjoy the tunes they present us =]

  • this just made me love them ten times more

  • I have nothing to debate here, because I think my dear Mumford fans have it handled.

  • I seriously doubt the existence or nonexistence or true moral nature of God will be proved in these comments anymore than the other thousands of threads on this website. Realize that high quality music will bring together all manner of diversity of beliefs. Within those confines it is totally possible to coexist. Save your arguments for proper forums and deal with them there, not here :)

  • Christian or not - It an amazing song , let go and enjoy the music

  • So beautiful! I can't stop listening!!

  • Beautiful!

Wish i could find a HD version :(

  • Nothing can defeat God's love or forgiveness for us. No matter of cussing can defeat Him. Nothing we do will separate His love from us. He defeated all our filth, sin and hypocrisy because we could not.

  • Marcus is always so happy. :)

  • Such Blessed Song. I Love The spirit They show of The Love Of God They have. God Bless You Mumford and Sons. GOD Bless All My Brothers and Sisters of The World. May We all Be Free Someday.. IN T. R. U. T. H... <3

  • Who says it's a sin to fucking swear?

  • guys lil wayne is a christian to he has a tatto on his eyes that say "Fear God" and i wikipedia it. he cusses a lot also at a concert he proclaimed his faith. so check facts. ( i still listen to clean versions of most songs :)

  • @UTLonghornjunkie97 lil Wayne isn't Christian. In his interviews he admits to a blood deal with the devil

  • @AfricanThundaa12 Hey everyone sins kay. wikipedia it. i mean im not 100% sure but i mean God loves everyone he forgives they just hafta repent!:)

  • @AfricanThundaa12 and what happend to what you just said in the top comment???

  • @UTLonghornjunkie97 Nothing. I'm not hating or judging, I believe he can be forgiven if he repents, sadly he hasn't. Therefore lil wayne isn't Christian, he is in a Satanic religion and practice.

  • @UTLonghornjunkie97

bring it to you buddy he is not. everyonce could say they are a Christian but the ones you really know ifthye change their life around. look at Brain (Ex-guitarist from KORN) He is a Christian because he admits it and he doesnt swear, do drugs, drink, nothing, he is now in his own band and praise and sharing God. Wikipedia is not always right, it carries false twisted doctrines. if he was a Christian, he won't be pointing his gun fingers at his head.

  • this is probably one of my favorite songs that we sing at my church.

  • You can't be this good without the support of God, the almighty maker.

  • I'm an official agnostic. Still love Mumford and Sons.

  • Thank you. My Aunt passed away this morning, and this was...perfect.

  • Words are words, and thats all they ever will be. They write what is in their hearts, i think we all know that. And if their hearts tell them to say some words that the public views as "Vulgar" then so be it. Mumford & Sons are simply the best

  • This is a wonderful take on this Hymn. Love it. God Bless you guys.

  • I LOVE this song. It makes me all the happier that Mumford and Sons sang it. I always knew that they were Christian. Maybe not with the label, but their lyrics say it all. Admittedly, I was drawn aback by the swearing in "Lion Man" but hey, I'm a Christian going to college for ministry, and I have said the same word. Even if they do regret it now its un-erasable. Christians are supposed to keep other Christians in check, not judge them. They are called to focus on the sick, not the healthy. :)

  • @tonyreed54 oh how I loathe you. -.-

  • Beautiful. this song and the discussion going on here reminds me of this truth: Sin isn't something you do, it's a condition of your heart. Cussing, sleeping around, even murder aren't just individual sins they are symptoms of a spiritually terminal disease with one cure and his name is Jesus.

  • I am very pleased that this comment section is a rather mature discussion of religion in the public and personal. Glad see that the "Christians" aren't abusing or condemning others.

I myself am a Christian and it brings joy when I see everyone getting along and enjoying some good music with great lyrics.

  • @9LJM2 il ove it

  • The song in which they "curse" has been a rock to me! It has pulled me up at the pit of my life. "I really fucked it up this time" is the only thing that describes what I've done accurately enough. Stop picking up on tiny details and realise that it's God is bigger than your religious BULLSHIT! And his streams of mercy never ceasing can wash you with them if you stop swimming the other way!

  • I'm actually very happy to see interesting and fairly mature discussion in the comments of a Youtube song, despite the fact that I usually hate it when people get into such discussions using these mediums -- these kinds of discussions are how Christians grow and learn! I do want to throw in here that you all should try to keep this as friendly and respectful as possible because being right isn't worth being harsh. Hopefully someone will read this and keep it in mind.

    Also, enjoy the music. ^^

  • they did cuss in one song; so, don't listen to the song if that proves to be a stumbling block in your faith. as Christians, we should congratulate the good in our brothers and, while we do not condone the bad, we also do not berate them for it. how would you feel if every time you did something for God, He said "yeah, but you did this bad thing before, so you really aren't faithful to Me." He wouldn't. and, as Christ followers, we strive to be like Him; like God. enjoy the music, and God bless.

  • in other news. I love this hymn and Mumford & Sons

  • I think we have to remember that profanity is a cultural thing. For instance, it is offensive or sinful to some cultures but in other cultures certain words are not offensive as they are other places. Just a thought.

  • @bortonjm That's a good point, but part of the reason I believe Christians shouldn't curse generally is because even if it isn't a sin Biblically, in modern culture, it is believed that Christianity as a whole holds cursing as wrong. If a Christian curses, it's easy for the world to feel that they are fickle, hypocritical, or weak Christians. Either no one will want to follow a faith of hypocrites or everyone will want to follow a faith of lax standards (which isn't true Christianity).

  • @bortonjm And by standards, I don't mean we have to live up to standards to go to Heaven, just to qualify because I just realized how that could come across. But the Bible does have guidelines for right living, so.

  • is this live, I can't hear it?

  • James 3...cursing is a sin that I am still struggling with and I can assure that I do know Jesus Christ as my savior. I find that I curse less the more I am in the Bible~

  • Thank you for Sharing the words! So beautiful and something I really needed to hear.

  • All of us sin. We can't help it, we're just human. I think we need to stop worrying about one's "Christian Image" and focus on having a close, personal relationship with the Lord which is the most important of all. Who are we to judge one and other?

  • I got a chance to talk to the drummer of the band after a show in New Orleans and asked him about some of their lyrics and if their band was christian. He said that it wasn't. Just because they curse in some songs doesn't mean the words in this song are any less true. Even though they aren't a christian band the song here is still excellent and powerful and the Glory is given to God.

  • I'm not anything close to a good christian, but this is beautifully written and is sung here with genuine emotion. Excellent song.

  • If you cuss it doesn't mean you're not Christian. If that were true there would not be a lot of Christians.... where do people get these ideas...

  • I agree with African Thunder - as this song so eloquently states, we are all prone to wander! We all need His unchanging love and grace to keep us close to him!

  • Marcus Mumford was raised in the church. His father is a preacher. He only says the worked "f*cked" in one song, for emphasis. I'm sure he has some sort of spirituality but in his other songs he sings of struggles he's had with his religion, just like any human being willing to admit to their mistakes. This is a beautiful song, I want it to be played folk style at my wedding next year.

  • They cuss in one song, but you sin too, so dont judge. All have fallen short of the glory of God, its by HIS grace we are saved.

  • @AfricanThundaa12 i don't think it's judging to say that doing something is wrong. if you look at a murderer and say that's wrong, by your logic you're saying i would be judging... i realize it's only by His grace we're saved, i'm just saying if you profess Christianity you should live by it at all times. tell me how it goes down if you use that cuss in front of your pastor

  • @joniline4 I understand, and you are absolutely correct, but the same measure of grace that has been given to us, we should give to others. Jesus forgets about your sins, when you repent, and no longer holds you to them. It is not our place to determine where one stands with God. it is God's and God's alone

  • @joniline4 But what about when Mumford & Sons say something about f---ing up? A moment of accountability and admittance, coming from the very heart of conviction. Except they confess it using profanity one song and then later making, perhaps, their most profound statement of praise:

In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die/ Where you invest your love, you invest your life/ Awake, my soul. You were made to meet your maker.

  • @joniline4 Some people may have different opinions on what it means to live by the Christian faith. Just so you know.

  • @AfricanThundaa12 You said it, Friend!

  • love this hymn, love this band. thank you for posting. <3

  • They're not a Christian band, so this video surprised me. Great cover though.

  • @legofilms4fun you're right kinda. They havent admitted to being christian per se. But their album is the story of the prodigal son.

  • @legofilms4fun

Actually, Marcus Mumford is a devout Christian who leads an entire branch of the faith. look it up.

  • Comment removed

  • @legofilms4fun I think you have Jesus confused with the FCC. If a person believes Jesus is the Son of God, who died for their sins, they're a Christian. Where do people get the ridiculous notion that a person is not a Christian if they say certain words or sing anything but old hymns? Sounds like Pharisee talk to me, but really I have no right to judge. And no one here has the right to judge the Christianity of any members of this band either so JUST ENJOY THE MUSIC!

  • @annajm57 i think it's more of dropping the f bomb numerous times in a song, you know? christians are supposed to be set apart... that's not set apart

  • @joniline4

you said they were Christians? they're positive and it is possible that they can have Christian memebers but at the same time, from where they are from, the f word is saying skrew but it means different in their language. like Bloody is another Fbomb in Great Britain and England. it's all different customs with our language. so you can say they curse in our language but were they came from, it is a different word, so how can you justified to that? not arguing but asking.

  • @annajm57 word! haha

  • @annajm57 amen!

  • @annajm57 by this definition of Christianity you could put forward a pretty good argument for Satan's salvation.

  • @1C32CR34M Considering Satan at one point was an angel.......

  • @1C32CR34M Well, the one thing he left out in his definition is that one is called to make Jesus their Lord and Savior, which Satan has obviously went against when he rebelled against God and was cast out of Heaven

  • @annajm57 Well, the one thing you missed in your definition is that one also has to make Jesus their Lord and savior, but I totally agree with what your saying.

  • @annajm57 I completely agree with you!

  • @annajm57 AMEN!!! Preach it brother ;-)

  • EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow this song is amazing!!!
