Dulmbledore's "great unrequited love" was Grindelwald. That's why he delayed for so long the inevitable duel, and chose only to imprison him rather than kill him. Dumbledore, in his early years, talking about the Deathly Hallows with Grindelwald, turned a blind eye to what Grindelwald really was. He couldn't accept it.

If you have you might not have noticed the subtle hints about what was going on with him and Grindlewald, i mean looking back it's quite easy to see when you read their letters.Also the fact that Dumbledores gay has little to do with the main storyline or even with many of the minor plots so there really shouldn't be that much focus on it. Because of all this i fail to see how you can view this as "unprofessional" just because you didn't see it coming.
