Thanx Dale! I play an OM2H Cutaway and there is no better sounding guitar on the market (I sold a Martin D-18 to purchase the OM2H) I never noticed the back of the head until you pointed it out...thanx...Beautiful guitar and amazing sound!
thanks again tonedr for all the videos. you are really helping me with my love of the guitar. gosh, i love those Collings guitars that you play. i dont feel justified in buying one yet but maybe one day. take care. jc
hello JC, great to hear about your music and i hope you keep enjoying it more and more! Thanks for taking your time to post and please contact me anytime if i can ever be of any help.....all the best!
@tonedr Thanks for sharing ur usefull videos, you've a very nice playing!!I really enjoy ur guitar which has pretty nice looking and gorgeous powerful sound, i think u made the right choice.
could u say some more words about the comfort on it? is it easy and fast to play on the neck or do u have to struggle a little bit?
I need some advices coz i'm interested by collings OM thx ;)
thanks for watching the video and i appreciate your kind post! The neck on this guitar is VERY comfortable. it is a bit lower profile than some Collings OM which i like. I don't like a strong V feel and this one has more of a C shape - most folks that play it remark on how well it plays. Hope you can get your hands on a few....all the best!
Love your playing and guitar. Q- I have a taylor 716ce. Also arthritis in fretting/left hand. Played a OM2H and loved it. Considering a Collings, probably OM1 or 2 with short scale and cutaway. How will ss affect ease of play and sound? How will cutaway affect sound? Best way to amplify it?
I play half fingerstyle and half strumming w/ friends. Any recommendations on type of Collings, OM or otherwise? Woods?
Also really enjoy your lessons. They have helped me a lot.
Very interesting to see and to hear the video Dale. I have ordered a Manzanita HK (Kona Weissenborn style) with Koa/Sitka. THIS is a wonderful sounding Collings guitar, so clear ... great guitar! (by the way: I was thinking about shorter scale for next Collings too)
hello - thanks for taking time to check out the video - i'm very fortunate to play in both of those context and play a great deal in an acoustic duo. All the best,
Thank you, sir, for sharing both your skills and your beautiful guitar collection. Your modesty and generosity benefit every guitar player of every level.
hello JT, sure appreciate you watching! i guess a combination of some private lessons early on, playing with other folks and stealing everthing i could and hopefully then making it my own.....i can't imagine my life without music, you know what i mean!
hello Larry, hope you are doing well sir! great question and one i should have answered on the video.....this guitar has a 1 3/4 nut which is my preference. Thanks for watching!
I know you are a proud father of some talented children. But you had a great smile at the very end of the video of a proud father of a great Collings guitar. Thanks for sharing.
hey Rich, i appreciate you watching and i think you are right......not that i deserve anything but i am very fond of this guitar. I hope you and your family are all good,
How did you pickup the sound from the guitar? Did you just pick it up with the mic used to pick your voice, or did you utilize the pickups? And if you used the p/u's, how do you like to balance the UST and internal mic? Inquiring minds want to know.
That is a beautiful guitar, Dale. And lovely playing, as always. Though it was odd to actually see/hear you strum. ;-)
hello Rob, sure appreciate you watching sir! I just used the mic of the camera for the video. When i play this guitar 'out' i generally use 100% UST, my experance has been the internal mic is almost good for solo guitar only. I appreciate your kind words and i am nothing if not odd to see and hear!!
Beautiful guitar. Beautiful playing (as always). So that'd be a 24.9" scale length then? I just played a Collings OM in a local music store. Puts my lil' ol' Blueridge to shame (of course...). One o' these days...
yes sir, it is a 24.9" scale...Blueridge are great guitars. I sat in music store recently waiting on my daughter's lesson and played a OM Blueridge.....couldn't put it down! Thanks for watching,
hey hey tone-doc!!! funny you should do a vid on the Collings....its definetly my favorite tone-doc guit-fiddle by far and away!!! beautiful sounds...excellent playin!!!
Stunning sounds.
Collings is fast overtaking Martins in my ratings.
