@silverrobe6 Hey there. Unfortunately, After Effects is quite expensive for hobbyists. It is cheaper for students, but it will still set you back a few hundred dollars. I used version 6.5 to create this, but now they've released several versions since then. The latest is CS5.
I made the chair move by having someone off camera to the right pull a string that was attached to the chair. After the shot was filmed, I masked the string out so that you couldn't see it.
You can create the energy ball by creating a "rendered clouds" image in Photoshop and then take it into After Effects and animate it. Ryan Wieber has a great tutorial on the process on his website. Just google his name to find his website and look in the tutorials section under energy ball 2.0. Good luck, and let me know if you have any trouble. : )
@sebasrobot55 Certainly there are many options for how to do it, each with a unique look. This was a few years ago though, so I would probably go about it differently now. : )
No, actually it was manually made with clouds rendered from Photoshop according to a tutorial on Ryan Wieber's website. There's a bunch of good stuff there.
Hmm. Seeing as how you do this sort of thing, I would think that you would know that this sort of thing is actually somewhat involved...to do anything of quality, that is. Some of your videos definitely show that you're headed for expertise though. I would recommend that anyone interested check out your After Effects reel. Your teleportations are especially intriguing. Keep up the good work. : )
Yes...well, I am just an amateur after all. Plus, this was a few years ago. I'm pretty sure I could make it a little bit more convicing now. But in any case, it's obviously an impossible stunt, so it would never look totally realistic. : )
Yes, it's actually a fairly common special effect among novice compositors. That's all it's meant for. I would have thought that the comment would have made it obvious that it wasn't intended to be a manifestation of a supernatural force. Anyway, thanks for the comment. : )
I had a person off screen to the right pull a string that was attached to the chair. I then masked out the string using a clean plate of just the wall.

Oh, my bad man.. I usually check the uploader's comment before watching his/her video. I guess I forgot to this time. Most people on this site are copying other peoples hard work, which pisses me off. Thx for understandin ;)
this is a con, those effects are Ryan Weiber's!!! Go to ryan-w(dot)com , this effect is in a tutorial listed there.... dont take credit for other peoples work...
Yes, I acknowledged the fact that it was Ryan Weiber's in my comment on the video. I'm not taking credit for creating the effect. I'm simply taking credit for applying it in this footage in a new way. I agree that Ryan Weiber is awesome, and anyone interested should definitely visit his site. Perhaps read the comment next time before you criticize the product of another person's hard work. Thanks.
the force push looked good except where the can settled, if you look it actually jumps place for a moment before resting. not sure why, im assuming you did that one with motion graphics. might have worked better with another friend and more sring good go either way
I had someone off camera pull the chair with a piece of string and masked out the string with a separate layer...I think just a jpeg of the scene behind it.
LoL -_-¡

In a separate shot, I threw a softball at it. Then I masked the can by itself out of that shot and put it over the back layer.
