China is diverse. Dalian is actually very good in terms of public transportation, although private cars are growing way too fast - that's what will happen when people get rich.
Chinese should keep their culture rather than mimic 'modern' US/European cities. But it doesn't hurt anyone if a city or tow like Dalian decides to go for western style.
I know where you were in Dalian, it's called Xinghai square. When I was in Dalian, every time I went to Xinghai Square, I saw a lot of people enjoying their time. Dalian locals and tourists love this square. From your video, I saw few people there.Did they block the roads for Davos? the beach is clean, and the water is also clean. how come you worry about so much? Dalian is trying their best to keep the city clean, and make less pollution.
