I'm trying to fix my couch, my sister jumped up on it when she saw a mouse, and broke the metal piece that hold spring to the wood. Does anyone know what they're called and where I can get on?
excellent idea !!!! use good quality zip ties the don't stretch! i did mine cause my friend said, you will be tired of your sofa in 5 years anyway, get a cheapie, now it is 8way-cable tied!!!
Who cares what she sounds like. it was an awesome idea. I just did this. It worked great. Went to Home depot and got really thick zip ties. 14 inch. cost like 40 bucks for this,
Unfortunately, it only lasted about 6 months before I had to replace the ties. They stretch out eventually and break. I've been trying a couple approaches from DIY Upholstery Supply. I'll repost if any work. I couldn't get the twine to work, I think because the couch is too big. everything else costs $100+ between tools and materials. That's a lot of ties, so if you are looking for a shorter term solution, this is still a good way to go.
i did this and it did not work. it only stretched the springs out more and now it's even worse. i am going to replace the springs.

Great idea, sorry it didn't last. What about wire, a strong, stranded wire, with a clip to hold the two ends together... have you thought of that??

Thanks...I have another problem with springs, and wouldn't have thought of ties either. Couches are made so cheap today, and this is a cheap fix.

Brilliant idea. I have a couch I can't part with and need to repair the exact same type of springs.
Thanks.
