  • tres charmant! :) j'aime :)

  • Where can i get one of those renaissance guitars? They're awesome!

  • @MrThejackassking

Ask any lute maker, they are making also such instruments (look for lute society on the net for adresses...) If you can't find one, or if it is too expensive, try a tenor ukulele... same tuning... ;-)

    Good luck !

  • I would give all my city knowledge, all the items I own, one of my kidneys, and a lung just to go back into the times of where they would gather around the campfire in cold nights with cherry red faces and fiddle the night away with good friends and a kenning of meat in my hand. I would love to find someone with this instrument that could play the fast frenzy way. the one where its fun and people clap their hands. oh I wish I had a time box lol...

  • @Luckyrob72

I would be fun, just for a while, but remember the way dentist works at that time... and you will want to go back to our days as fast as possible ! lol

  • If I wanted to begin learning this kind of music, but was learning on a modern classical guitar, could you please recommend a piece or two to begin with?

  • @Canadianspunge

You can find the Le Roy book on the "Django tablature software" (google this to find it) site in french tablature (go to "Collections link). Just use the fourth upper strings of your guitar with capo on the fifth fret and play ! Have fun !

    Val

  • Whats the tuning for that guitar?

  • @nwitron1 CGEA (same as ukulele, or fourth upper strings of the guitar with capo at 5th...)

    ;-)

    Val

  • What is the name of the luthier that made your instrument?

  • @tlahcomiztli

This instrument was made by Stephen Murphy (see my channel for a link)

    Regards

    Val

  • I love the sound of this guitar, but where can you find tablature of the music? And recordings?

  • Some Le Roy's music on the Django site by Alain Veylit (look the Collection pages on his site)

    Good luck

    Val

  • Excuse me, but just curious, do you use flesh when you play?

  • Yes, usually lute and related instruments are played without nails.

  • Hi Luthval! Very nice video recordings with music for the unkommon 4-course guitar. It seems to be a very good instrument you have by Stephen Murphy. It sounds very nice!

  • Hi Val, sorry for the late reply...

Ok, your playing is really professional. I can't play it that fast too... However, I was waiting for you to play an ukulele piece on the renaissance guitar ;)

    Regards, Wilfried

  • More lovliness Val. Bravo.

  • Bonjour Valery,

Superbe instrument que cet ukulele "renaissance",

je ne connaissais pas. Cette pièce est très enlevée, superbe interprétation.

    Amitiés

    Patrice

  • Merci Patrice.

C'est un chouette instrument cette petite guitare renaissance à 4 choeurs. Il n'y a pas beaucoup de répertoire, mais ce sont très souvent de charmantes pièces...

    Val

  • Val,

I very much enjoy the tone of this instrument and the lively feel of the music. Very cheery and fun! It put a smile on my face.

    Thanks,

    Vern

  • Some more to come soon...

Hope to make you smile again ;-)

    Val

  • This is really great, it sounds really good on that Renaissance guitar. Also, Val, you play it very well.
