Povera ragazzina, costretta a fare la "macchinetta-dattilografa", senza rendersi conto di quello che suona. Ormai anche i programmi dei computer possono ... "suonare" così. La ragazzina è da ammirare per la buona volontà, ma eseguire una composizione pianistica ... E' UNA COSA MOLTO LONTANO DA QUESTA !!!

Amazing that she can play all the notes at her age, BUT - it's absurd to have a kid this age, no matter how talented, play this piece. It's not the fast, virtuosic stuff that's the problem, it's the slow sustained melodies that fall apart. At her age she's not emotionally equipped to understand or communicate this piece. Forgive me, but it sounds like a computer realization.(2:10+, 6:15+) Great talent, but she's being pushed into repertoire she has no business playing. Bad teacher IMO.

@gtimny I totally agree with you. An amazing girl who could play this piece very well in about ten years is currently wasting her efforts and time on music that she cannot possibly understand yet. To get to know this piece, to sight-read it, to listen, to love - all is great, but not to perform and record it.

Now you should think about the balance, pedal effects and how to shape your sections - the building up to the climaxes and dying away more effectively.

It is a pity the audio does not show the dynamic contrast well. I know you are doing it, but it does not sound how you are playing.

My way to compliment you is to say this is just as pleasant to hear as versions by famous people; you have a style evocative of the 1930's, directly narrative but it works for this piece and seems unique.

Rachel, keep on working and learning these pieces. Repertoire building is the basis for becoming an established concert pianist. This Rachmaninoff sonata is one of the most difficult pieces for piano, but eventually you will own it. You play it very well for your age, but in two or three years time it will be phenomenal just like the Chopin Ballade in G minor. Wow!!
