I just saw these guys last night at the beacon theater in NYC...I have seen DT play a total of 8 times. All the way from Images & Words till now. I can honestly say, I never saw the band more focused until last night. Also, John Myung was actually smiling! The band was communicating VERY well with each other and you could tell that there was a new energy there. They were just as excited to be playing as we were to see them. Looking forward to the New Testament version...

Unbelievable! Calm intro, epic 'The Ministry Of Lost Souls'-like part, killer chorus, crazy middle part.....Dream Theater at its very best! Thank you so much for that refreshing moments! This is more than a song....It's a lesson in progressive music and it shows how clever music can be written.

I love Portnoy's drumming but I have to admit the band seems to be refreshed since he left... The last album BC&SL sounded to me very weak and the band uninspired, A nightmare to remember saved the album from the black clouds, now we can taste the real silver linings on this new album, don't u think?

@crawl2crow I totally agree. I made the comment elsewhere where someone was saying "Bring Portnoy Back!!" that if you listen to "A Nightmare to Remember" his drumming is so uninspired. He does the same lick 4 times in a row towards the beginning of the song. I love MP, but it just sounded tired. Folks are criticizing MM for not being that "power house", but his playing is MUCH more musical and part of a whole than trying to show what he can do in any given section. I love this record.

@crawl2crow Desagree with you... The Best of Times and The Count of Tuscany are 2 awesome songs and to me, so much amazing than songs like Pull Me Under, In the Name of God which are really beautiful.

I don't think this album is bad, because I bought it yesterday and I love all the song from Dramatic Turn of Events, but Black Clouds is to me, the best album with Metropolis 2 and Systematic Chaos. Now, A Dramatic Turn of Events can take a place with these album into my top 1 !
