  • Love you always Christine! Your hair will be fine, the highlights are not too noticeable, don't worry! Keep up the great work! And yes, Chúc Mừng Năm Mới! (though a bit late) Hope to meet you soon =)

  • Regardless of what picture you bring or how you explain it. It all depends on the stylist's skills. For the times I've had my hair cut I don't always know before hand who I get or how long they've worked cause I don't stick to one salon. For me, I like to keep it simple and basic so at least I know they can do the cut right. I don't color my hair so I don't have to worry about that.

  • I always say Happy Chinese New Year, probably because I am from China, grew up in China, and this festival means so much to me. Lunar New Year would sound somewhat detached. After reading the comments, I just hope my way of greeting is not offensive or too egocentric for my friends. Afterall, it should be a cheerful and happy occasion. It is for me a great thing that we all share something in common despite of differences.

  • No you got your history information mixed up.

  • Hi Christine, I love your scarf and top and the way they go together so well :D Could you tell me where did you get them from? (sorry if you've replied to similar questions like this but I haven't seen any hehe) Thanks.

  • xteeener, Are you korean?

  • @TheTonyVo

she is from Vietnam , pretty lady :)

  • @wynnewu Oh.

  • @TheTonyVo no. vietnamnese.

  • omg xteeener, please don't be ignorant. it's called chinese new year, because it was first celebrated by the chinese, they were one of the first civilizations...specifically the first asian civilization so yes, credit does go to the chinese! that was such an ignorant comment, but i still like your videos.

  • i actually recently dyed my hair with the clairol natural instincts, and sketched out about using the revitalizer, but i did. i was so scared at first cause i heard it turne dpeople's hair orange, and the cream came out as orange!! but all was good, it made my color more lively so it is good :)

  • Happy Lunar New Year xteener! Lovee watching your videos! Keep it up :)

  • next time you get highlighs tell her to weave them not slice them

  • Why can't I find a beauty girl like hurrr?

  • :) your so pretty!!! I just started watching you and omg I love your vids x3

  • @xDsungsamxD aww thanks! glad you like them! :))

  • Hi, Xteeener! I always have bad experiences with hair stylists... if I dare to do more than a haircut, I always get frustrated... this year, I paid a lot to get highlights and I couldn't stand it! The following day, I used too a semi-permanent hair color to fix it. Thank you for sharing this! People usually aren't brave to share these experiences if they're not anonymous. This is why you're one of my favourite gurus (the other is Jen, lol) since I subscribed to you channel, years ago! =D

  • @pequenise1 thank you :) i love Jen too!

  • Christine, you look gorgeous like always! xx

  • @tollinja <3 <3 :)

  • wow do some research on why it is called CNY girl!!!!

  • Chuc mung nam moi to you too Christine. I hope this year bring you the best of the best, success, stay beautiful as you are, be healthy and continue to share the love of a make up guru :) sad to hear about your hair though, but at least you get to fix it :)

  • Next time you get your hair professionally done ask her/ him to "Weave" the highlights in, it will fix that problem with chunkiness :)

  • happy lunar new year! =]

  • you are so pretty! <3 your hair grows so fast too~ love your new hair and it's black so it's gorgeous on you.stay pretty :)

  • Oh my goodness don't think its vain to care about what your hair looks like.... Its a part of your personality and a drastic hair change affects everyone. I wanted my hair short after a while. It had gotten to the mid of my back but when I got it cut the lady chopped it to my chin! It was awful and I was really down because of it but I fixed it up eventually!

  • In Russia they also call it Chinese New Year, so it might have something to do with China being so big.

  • Just to clarify, it's called Chinese New Year, not because the Chinese reached America first. Neither is it because the Chinese are just greedy and wanted to claim everything to be theirs and be the first to claim it. They ARE the first based on historical records. Chinese New Year originated since 1700BC. That's like 3000 years ago. That's way before other Asian countries started following and celebrating it. It originated as a festival widely celebrated by the Chinese community.

  • @northernstarlite aren't vietnamese are the same thing with chinese? we shouldn't really take this too seriously..just go with the flow! just celebrate the lunar year. BUT, I couldn't agree with you MOReee..NORTHERNSTARLITE! most of vietnamese ppl that I know usually say that we are half chinese..so to me, it's really the same thing..other than that, we can use different asian languages to say "Happy New Year"..:)

  • @123cherrykoko No Vietnamese and Chinese are not the same. Same thing goes with American and Canadian, they share the border but they're not the same.

  • @123cherrykoko just because Chinese people ruled over our country (Vietnam) for 1k years DOESN'T mean that we are the same. Chinese and Vietnamese people are two different ethnic. half chinese is probably 50% chinese and other half by blood. or grew up in vietnam.

  • @123cherrykoko Yes, I believe most Vietnamese are Vietnamese Chinese. But I'm not sure why some of them aren't aware their ancestors are Chinese settlers who migrated to Vietnam.

  • @northernstarlite i don't know if "most Vietnamese are Vietnamese Chinese", but I know for sure that there are pure Vietnamese Vietnamese, "French Vietnamese" "American Vietnamese", and a lot more. Guess that's the result of the thousands years of invasion from various countries, including china.

  • @northernstarlite Source: Google Greek Calendar: By 13th century B.C. Greeks were using lunar calendar based on the visible new crescent. Later they also learnt intercalation to bring lunar calendar in phase with seasons and started using lunisolar calendar.

Chinese Calendar: Chinese also started using a lunisolar calendar with months beginning on the day of the new moon. There have been more than 50 calendar reforms since its inception in the 14th century

  • @chickenkiddy Chinese New Year has nothing to do with who invented the calendar first. Chinese New Year is a long festival mainly for families to reunite and it marks the start of spring. It just happens to coincide with the lunar calendar. So it DOES NOT mean the Greeks invented the festival, just because they invented the lunar calendar.

  • @northernstarlite okay, she just wanted to say that the name Lunar New Year is much better, and gets less 'conflict' =.=

  • Yay Happy Chinese New Year! I'm Chinese and Vietnamese and I say Chinese more than Lunar.

  • Aren't you Vietnamese Chinese? I don't think it mattered if you said Chinese new year or Lunar New Year.

  • oh if u can travel to dubai theres a salon there

professionals and they will do what u love

  • Oh and the color refreshers don't turn your hair "orange" the one that comes with black is a bright magenta, it just makes your color more vibrant until you re-dye. All that happens is my scalp gets stained that color for like 1 wash

  • I use natural instincts as my dye and I dye my hair with #36 black. I also chose it because it is less damaging without ammonia. It makes my hair sooo soft

  • I love, love, love your hair. You should not feel bad for caring about how you look. Bad dye jobs have happened to us all. You are one of the lucky that could be saved. Happy Lunar New Year to you too.

  • Chuc mung nam moi! May this year bring joy, health and prosperity to you and your family

  • If you want them blended the term is "weave" highlights.

  • Great hair Christine. Happy lunar new year to you too!

  • I love your vietnamese and chuc mung nam moi chi <3

  • ahhh! you made me scared to get my hair colored :( haha

  • i actually like the quality already! it's really improved since your first videos.

but since ur looking for a new camera, i kno that no dlsr autofocuses, so ur better off with a point and shoot or camcorder. the most expensive camcorders autofocus w/ best quality, and pricey but affordable point and shoots do the same, but i prefer camcorders :)

  • vain.

  • @ranu jealous.

  • you with your natural hair color without highlights is the best my dear. let your hair naturally shine, beautiful and healthy. Happy New Year!

  • Try wordpress.

  • Welcome back you Look great.

  • everytime i watch ur videos,i'm fascinated at how sweet and pretty u are.

  • Your hair looks great like this :D

  • Omg!! Omg! I went through the same thing but worse!! I have asian hair and I wanted highlights, so like 4 days before new year, went into the local salon and asked for red-brown-mahogany. Just the kind of red that would only appear in the sunlight. that subtle. So I asked the lady for them and I was so confident that it'll look fantastic. But in the end, I walked out with BRIGHT PINK hair!!!!!!! BRIGHT PINK!! how the hell do u get like neon pink from red-ish brown??? She kept telling me that it

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR! chuc mung nam moi :)

may the year of the dragon bring you good fortune and prosperity to you, your family and friends. :)

  • happy lunar new year christine!

  • the l'oreal casting creme gloss is also semi permanent and i love using it because my hair always feels so nourished after using it (as compared to my experience with Revlon T_T dry as hay). It doesn't give that regrowth line too because its semi permanent heh ;)

  • kung shee fat choy:)

  • Happy Lunar New Year~ Chuc Mung Nam Moi, Christine :D ehehe I dislike the fact that everyone calls it Chinese New Year when there are other countries celebrating it too. Thank you for noting the fact that Vietnamese, Japanese, Koreans, Taiwanese, & etc. celebrate it too.

  • Is your boyfriend Korean?? If i he isn't, he totally looks like it! lol

  • @kimberlyh417 i think he's Chinese from one of the comments I saw her write

  • You looked a lot like your sister in that short clip you showed with your big chunks of highlights.

  • @appyo902 So in order to save face, you suddenly know what I heard when I heard it, with or without explanation? I mistakenly thought you made the comment after her explanation, since you didn't delete it and a lot of other commenters still didn't get it. I'M SO SORRY. No need to be a dick.

  • @xsilhouettelove I never heard what you heard, but I'm just letting this go. It's okay that you mistakenly thought i made the comment after.

  • Panasonic!

  • Damn you're pretty hot! lol

  • Christine! I really want the NAKED pallette but im living in korea and none of the makeup stores sell it here :(((

  • @amyizkool36 ... order online LOL

  • Demi perminant is all you should ever use on your hair! NEVER use permenant!!! If you are going to color your own hair, i suggest going to sallys and just buying the tubes of demi dye and get the developer.. :)

  • Dont you have one specific person that does your hair? The girl that does my hair has been doing it for like 7 years or so.. Since highschool... Shes great and if i dont like it or the highlights are too much or two little she will have me come back and fix it no charge (as it should be)...

  • wordpress is a really good blog host

  • heyy thanx for posting. I was scared of using drugstore hair dye but it turned out good for you so ima try that next time instead spending much moolla at the salon.

  • I'd like to wish you a happy luna new year,

and I enjoy watching this style of video. :)

  • Happy Lunar New Year!

  • happy new year! i just colored and cut my own hair yesterday. back to a dark color for me as well :)

  • Chuc Mung Nam Moi 2 you too, Christine! There's no reason 2 be offended over what Christine said. She just tried 2 explain that Chinese r not the only ones that celebrate Lunar New Year. I totally understand where she's coming from. There aren't many Asians where i work at, n someone once asked y i'm celebrating Chinese New Year when i'm not even Chinese. Then 2day on FB n Twitter, there were so many tweets n posts saying Happy Chinese New Year b/c Lunar NY is commonly known as Chinese New Year.

  • nude makeup in a girl has always been an exponential turn on for me

  • Yay i'm glad your back!

Please please please check out my tutorials!!!!

  • Happy new year christine!! We missed u!!! :) N wads all dis fuss about the Lunar/Chinese New Year?? So unnecessary.. lol..

  • @ttycc13 Thank you! Couldn't have explained it better myself!

  • I am not offended..but I did want to slightly correct her. Dont take this as me hating on her. I love Christine!! :) Anyway, I did a presentation on the way back dynasties of china in the BC era& CNY started in like the Shang Dynasty. Was called the Spring Festival as a time for families to get together & celebrate & for sons to meet their future wives. &Of course, It's developed to what it is now. Its a fun celebration &I dont think anyone should get too rallied up about it! Enjoy :)

  • @ohemjehnns I think Christine is right in terms of the Lunar New Year is commonly known as the Chinese New Year here in the US just because the Chinese were first to celebrate the new year on this land. If I'm not mistaken, Lunar New Year is based on the Lunar calendar which was first used by ancient Greek people.

    Source: google

  • @chickenkiddy OH! Well then yes, that does make sense too. I was just kinda bringing it back to the wholeeee Ancient China thing and where it originated back in those times! haha. But yeah, I do see how you are right in terms of it being first celebrated here by the Chinese! :) ..I think lol I didnt do my research on that, but I see you have :)

  • It does make hair orangy!

  • happy lunar new year! :) i don't see the offense... lunar new year just denotes the date according to the calendar. chinese/korean/vietnamese/insert other culture new year means how that particular may celebrate it. in whatever culture, we never point out ourselves. it's other people who do... i'm chinese and we don't say "chinese new year" we just say "new year." in english, that's how it got translated b/c any non-celebrators had to somehow separate the day from their own new year.

  • wait i dont get it? what's all the hype about?

  • Toc em rat dep

  • If you watch Christine enough you'd know last year she appeared shy about saying Happy New Year in Viet and she did that embarrassed laugh too, just like she did here.

From the context, she was trying to explain why the holiday is known as "Chinese New Year" and it was enough for me understand that she wasn't trying to be offensive, even though the words aren't best. For all the offendeds here, chill. I'm Viet and Chinese people want to speak Cantonese to me all the time. I'm not offended.

  • omg your vietnamese is sooo good, christine!! chuc mung nam moi, nam moi phat tai to youu!! i hope the year of the dragon is a good one for you!!

by the way, maybe you should consider dyeing your hair by yourself! it seems like you've had some rotten luck with salons :( but it turned out really well this time!! and i like your current hair length a lot :)

  • ur married????????

  • @hanna4292 she was probably talking about her brother's wife when she said sister-in-law

  • @xteeener happy new year! :P

i'm Chinese and i don't feel offended at all so yeah :)

  • You're so pretty!

  • Happy lunar year to you too! It's great to see you on youtube again^^

  • chuc mung nam moi xteeener! i hope its filled wealth and prosperity! :)

  • @jollyblue626

what does "chuc mung nam moi" mean? i really want to know!!

  • @CharleneFed Happy New Year

  • @CharleneFed it means happy new year in vietnamese! ^_^

  • Well..I'm Chinese, and I have nothing to say but that I love her hair xD

    Chill guys~

  • Chuc muong nam moi too u too -.-

  • Last year I had a Chinese friend on facebook and that sucker think that Chinese "invented" the Lunar new year. And I was so fuckin' annoyed and offended. Anyway, Chuc mung nam moi! It's funny because since yesterday the foreign customers at the restaurant I'm working in started to say "Chuc mung nam moi" too, and they're very good at saying it :).

  • @GraceMcKagan The Chinese didn't invent the lunar calendar. But, the "Jan 1st" of this calendar system is defined by the Chinese around 3000~3500 yrs go, and adopted by many other cultures, that's why many call it "Chinese new year". Indian "lunar calendar" holiday and their "Jan 1st" is actually in March, and that would also be technically called a "lunar new year" for them. But yes, the term for this particular Jan 1 is defined by ancient Chinese. I'm a world history major.

  • Wow tons of people went nuts over that Chinese new year statement.

  • Hey xteeener can you please do "what's in my purse video"........Thanks :)

  • did u go back to the salon and tell them u werent happy ? they should have fixed it for your if u did go back there

  • I m chinese and very pround. My best friend is vietnamese. Viet and taiwanese people celebrate it too and we say happy chinese new year.

  • hmm...in English it is called Chinese new year but when we said it Chinese, it is not. we said happy new year. the word Chinese is not included. American called it Chinese new year! idk y.

  • So funny how people are getting all offended by something she DIDN'T even say... I mean by the context is pretty obvious she wasn't offending anyone plus she is one the nicest people here in yt... It seems like people just love getting offended for some reason, they just want to argue about I guess XD

  • Happy lunar new year!

  • Chuc Mung Nam moi Christine :) :) <3 keep up the great work!

  • well some other parts of Asia like Vietnam, Korea, etc. they also celebrate the day as well...and they don't call it "Chinese" new year.. just call it Lunar new year.

  • click !

  • Happy lunar new year Christine, hope u and your family have a great year ahead!!

  • Don't feel vain for not liking your hair. I feel the same way about my hair. I color my own hair and have freaked out if I see a picture of myself and it looks bad. Hope it all works out for you.

  • Omg I totally understand the hair thing! I've been trying to get my hair back to the way I had it originally for months now! It's not bad now but it was such a pian and I stopped filming for like 2 weeks lol

  • Happy Lunar New Year =). Love your vids, love your personality, and you're sooo pretty. Keep up the good work!

  • chuc mung nam moi to you too! :D

  • Loveeee the "chuc mung nam moi" part <3

  • awww... i'm so sorry that that happened to you with your hair. I don't think its silly at all that you are so bothered by it. I've had bad haircuts/ hair dye jobs before and it does suck a lot cuz you are constanstly reminded of you whenever you look into a mirror.

I've personally been highlighting my own hair since my past highlights at the salon got me nowwhere.

Also, i know that sally's has a lot more options for semipermanent hair dye if you are still interested.

  • For anyone to think you were intentionally trying to be offensive is ridiculous. I heard you softly say "I." I just asked my mom tonight if the Chinese were the only ones who celebrated it or if other Asians do too. I'm Chinese and I didn't know the Vietnamese, Koreans, and Japanese do too. Easy mistake, everyone learns.

  • i didnt show any picture when i cut my hair but i gave exactly how many inches i want it to be cut. just say like "shorten the back 3 in, dont give too much layers, and keep my bangs long" and the result is exactly like i pictured in my mind :D of course, i've known the hairdresser for ages :D

happy year-of-the-dragon! its also chinese new year in where i am :)

  • @xteeener - you should tell them you want FULL highlights. That means they do thin strips of highlights throughout so it's more blended and they use a toner to balance it. Otherwise, they give you the chunky highlight that you got. Hope that helps!

Happy new year and I wish you all the best!

  • Dont worry about the negative comments, if one has been watching your videos long enough one would have known what you really meant. (just saying, not intending to offend any first timer here) I'm Chinese and I dot feel offended in any sense. Happy CNY!

  • Chúc mừng năm mới! <3

  • This was a good video. Missed you!

  • it's commonly known as chinese new year because of the population of chinese people.

  • yoooooooo calm down. yall too hype about the whole chinese new year thing -__-

  • There are multiple names for every holiday...... Chinese New Year is just another name for the Lunar New Year, Spring Festival, Vietnamese New Year, ETC., and who really knows the reason?? It shouldn't matter anyways.

  • @SarrahLoraiinee it really shouldnt matter but if someone is gonna come out n say chinese think they came to the states first and it offends people, it does matter

  • @appyo902 But that's not what she said. She was saying SHE thinks the Chinese came to America first.

  • @xsilhouettelove Yeah n you figured that out after she clarified it-- not before.

  • @appyo902 but the point is, she had no malicious intent... especially to something she didn't even say! so yeah, we figured it out after she clarified it, but are you going to hold every single person accountable for something YOU didn't hear?

  • @annisyndrom of course not but is it something only i didn't hear?

  • @appyo902 It's no one's fault. She didn't mean what everyone thought she didn't say, and you didn't mean to not hear her. Honest mistakes, so let it go.

  • @annisyndrom word to you, if only everyone would settle down about this issue now!

  • i think i've gotten like 3 haircuts i've been completely satisfied with

i know that feeling of shock when you hate a haircut but you still have to try to contain your horrified facial expression to be polite...and try not to cry LOL

  • i suggest getting a micro four-thirds camera! it's in between a digital camera and a dslr. it's basically a digital camera with a lense. i currently have the panasonic lumix gf3 and i LOVE it. the video quality is rather good and it is so much better than a regular digital camera. this type of camera is really popular in asia and its only starting to get popular here. happy camera hunting! :)

  • @hannahippo thank you for your suggestion!

  • That revitalizer turned my hair kind of orange too! Even with a cool-toned dye the revitalizer was very red, it was strange...I would definitely not recommend using that.

  • You're one of the beauty gurus out there who stay real and are genuinely sweet!! Been with you for a few years now and I'm far from thinking to unsubscribe. Love you!

  • @sugaichigo i really really appreciate that thank you! :))

  • i just noticed most of the beauty gurus are viet lol

  • one time, my stylist didn't really understand what i was saying and didn't bother to ask me to explain again, so she ended up cutting off 3 inches more than i wanted. by the time i realized what she was doing it was too late. i cried for hours, ahaha. i didn't have long hair to begin with so i looked like a boy :(

so don't feel silly about being so affected by your hair! it happens to all of us :)

  • @weDOmakeup :( hair takes so long to grow but can soooo easily be chopped off! i hatee when they cut the back first and you don't really know what's going on back there

  • @xteeener I don't understand why you're getting so many negative comments o.O I love videos like these! I hope you can vlog more often :D Even if it's a little late, can you do a best products of 2011 video! I'd love to see what you picked! xoxo

  • You are just sooo beautiful and gorgeous and ..and and ...haha sorry I just had to say it (:

  • @MathGeekQ I agree =).

  • Happy Lunar New Year to you too!

  • I thought it was only chinese new year, good to know it's lunar new year in other countries. Thanks for the info :)

  • uve made vdos before new year, ur hair was fine. when did u get the dye?

  • especially if u pay so much money, and they give u a bad haircut/hair dye. yea, i would def not want to go back.

  • yea, not all stylist pay attention to how we want our haircut. I paid over $170 for a haircut and it was the worst hair cut/dye. After that, I decided NEVER to dye my hair again from that salon.

  • sister in law?

  • I love it when you speak Vietnamese! I wanna hear more from you! :))

  • Um I'm not sure what you meant... The reason lunar new year is commonly known as Chinese new year is because the Chinese think they came to the states first? What exactly does former have anything to do with the latter? I'm Chinese and I'm offended. If you had wanted to make the point that we aren't the only ones who celebrate the lunar new year you could have left it at that and not have added such an opinionated statement about another ethnicity.

  • @mnbvc928 ah i can see the misunderstanding here! "is because the Chinese, "I" think they came to the states first" I don't think I clearly said "I" which is my bad! but in no way would i try to be offensive 0_o i'm dating a Chinese guy for goodness sakes lol sorry for not speaking as clearly as I should :)

  • @xteeener its also called chinese new year because the lunar calendar was invented by the chinese! :)

  • @iamangiechan I'm sorry but I think the Lunar calendar was first invented and used by the Greek people.

  • @xteeener

I thought your boyfriend is Korean?!?! Any way I didn't think of luna year comment was offensive at all.

  • @mnbvc928 Yeah i agree, i was also offended at first. Idk if it was because of her tone or that chuckle but yeah... And also just because your dating a chinese guy that doesn't mean anything. its like saying im dating a ______ guy so that doesn't make me racist.

  • @mnbvc928 you know what?..get OVER yourself. that's the problem with people today... getting offended about ANYTHING! she's a good girl. leave her alone.
