It's an awesome book and it kind of sets out basic rules for zombies, like they can only die by head shots. It was supposedly referenced in Zombie Land.

Only thing is, when it comes to zombie-like movies with flesh craving mutants, I always find it better when there are a swarm of zombies instead of just 1 or 2

@doubbled1 there are numerous scenes filmed where loads of zombie occur, chases etc. The characters try to avoid populate areas where there are loads of undead thus the countryside.
