  • You can find this track on a Georgie Fame CD entitled "20 Beat Classics"

  • Yeh yeh, real clean horn arrangements, and everything else holds up to Motown standards.. including his voice.

  • brill sound wow

  • I can't believe my ears! This is really a staggering cover! I usually shy away from covers but this one has the distinction of being every bit as good (and even better in points) than the original- and believe me, I am a die-hard Motown fanatic, so I say that with the intent of paying the highest compliment to Georgie Fame.

I'm going to have to start paying more attention to Georgie Fame!

  • Sweet Things is one of my fave albums..not out on cd as far as i know....shame..my vinyl is showing its age

    Jim

  • True blue eyed soul!

  • Full on blue eyed soul!!!

  • wow

  • georgie you are so cool, dont miss the great man at Castles Pub, October 14th, in Golders Green London, be there!!! What a great night it will be!!!

  • superb

title track from "Sweet Things" album

  • quite a challenge

    haha

  • This is on 7". Think it was released in Sweeden

  • i love Georgie xoxoxox

  • THIS IS THE REAL TUNE!

MY FAB ONE IN THE MID 80's. Today still deserves a place in my heart. Curiously Georg. F. full enpowered voice leaving his hammond aside.

  • My all time favourite Georgie track. great memories of being 18 and dancing to this on those East End saturday nights. Very cool, Georgie is stillso underated and was the ultimtae in hip when he played the Flamingo all those years ago.

  • Anyone have his version of Rufus Thomas' "World is Round"

  • is there a female version of this

  • what a song yeah

  • Great version !!!,.ktf.

  • The Spinners did this? Oh my. It has to be a lot different I'm sure.

As for Georgie Fame, you gotta love him. He has never been at the very top but he has always been around. Supergroups, boy bands, hip-hop, metal - they all come and go but Georgie Fame just goes on forever. Why? Cos there is something extra special about him. If he didn't invent "cool" he was sure present when somone else did. Respect.

  • Bear in mind that's a reference to the DETROIT Spinners who only added the word Detroit over here to avoid confusion with the Liverpool folk quartet which is who I get the impression you're thinking of.

  • Lol. Thanks for putting me straight

  • With all due respect to the spinners, I like this version better.

  • @lrd9999 I didn't want to say it, but with the second listening to this, I'm with you- this just flat out ROCKS!

  • Wow! I'm quickly becoming a Georgie Fame fan....he totally ROCKS!

  • i got loads of his albums on youtube... look for necropaloid

  • This is THE version of this track. I've listened to the Spinners, it doesn't even jive closely to this monster. Shame there was no 7" release (In the UK atleast)...

  • It's decent but it's lacking. I'm not feeling the soul. It's like someone just gave him the lyrics and told him to just sing.

  • Such a good tune, guarantees to fill the dancefloor! Thanks for putting this up :-)

  • ...This boomer has chills...the memories, oh the memories

  • Probably the best (and most underrated) vocalists to ever emerge from the UK. It's not often you can say that a white fella from Bristol has battered Detroit's finest.

    Absolutely-bloody-fantastic!!!

  • Bristol.? He's a Lancastrian from Leigh Mate;-)

  • georgie's the best this is brilliant , what a man

  • The Spinners' version has been on my top 10 favorite list for the past forty years.

But...but...I have to now admit that this is a better interpretation. Hats off to Georgie.

  • Still love it. Just heard The Spinners record. Georgie Fame tops it.Geogie's record just makes you feel good.

  • brilliant track!!

  • Georgie & his Blue Flames do a great version of this classic, this is up there with The Spinners..top tune,.ktf.

  • Yes I agree with you Jamey, I have this in my favs! Thanks!!
