@devastaticon That is what we call an introduction and explanation, and for it being my first attempt at a Let's Play you can shut the hell up about it and bite the bullet. :)
@Obviously I keep meaning to, but with college and constant computer issues, not to mention a busy life with my girlfriend and lack of proper recording equipment, I may call an end to this particular Let's Play temporarily in favor of re-continuing it later on with better equipment for an all-around better experience for everybody. It feels like it would be a lot better to give my viewers SOUND from the game, especially considering the magnificence of this game's soundtrack.
Do you assholes do these videos to demonstrate the actual game, or to demonstrate that you can't shut your flap long enough for the viewers to actually experience what the game has to offer sonically?
Especially when demoing a game so buried in the annals of video-game history.
@0AllForNaught0 There is nothing wrong with an introduction to a video. It lays the groundwork for better gameplay continuations later on. If I EXPLAIN how everything works and give a proper focus, the later gameplay videos can be PURE gameplay. There are several Chakkan Let's Plays on YouTube. I checked. There are at minimal three at any given time. If you really have a problem with it, go view one of those and get off my comments board.
@Poeden "Explain" how everything works?!? ExPlAiN?!?!? Do you know how many people own video game consoles in 2011?!? We have a pretty firm grasp of what's going on without you narrating it, I think!
@0AllForNaught0 This is really important to you, isn't it? o_O Chakan does not work how many old-school games did. It was very unusual, especially the layout and potion system. It can be very confusing to watch it without any explanation if you never played it before.
But... if it is really that important to you and bothers you that much... watch a different video. :)
LPs are often a lot more shallow with no attention towards the finer details of a game.
Also a pity to play it without featuring its music, though.
As you said, it was its most noteworthy element.
I think it was what motivated me to finish the game, back then. The atmosphere was brilliantly set up by the background story and music. Mysterious and enchanting.
I finished it twice, to tape the music on the 2nd run.
agreed, i used to love this game as a kid, and the thing tied most to those memories is the music. the video does bring back memories though, flashbacks of the painful difficulty.
@Kijinn I agree it is a shame it never continued, but I still might -way- down the line when my equipment improves. I figure without the ability to offer that create audio from the game, and without a RELIABLE computer, the project will suffer in the long-run. So I think I will probably just cancel this one, wait until I get better opportunities for it, and deliver a much better final product later on that people can really feel stands out from other Let's Play of this amazing game.
@Kijinn Well right now with my limitation on audio... I doubt I will be doing a Let's Play any time soon, but it is possible. The reason I started Chakan was because of how much love I have for it, but I jumped into the deep end without even tipping into the shallow by picking a very difficult, moderately long game. It was not a good idea for my first project. If I DO make a Let's Play soon, it will likely be on something shorter, or at least easier like Beyond Oasis or SoulBlazer.
@Kijinn But even then? Do not expect it. I think I will be jumping into film and video game -reviews- before the longer projects, since those can be released in one or two parts easily, without worrying about a -long- process that could die early.
@NapalmPuppet Sadly my mic broke a short time after this was made, so I was unable to make a continuation. I might continue it eventually, but for now my upcoming review of Shattered Memories will be top priority, as well as a "Chrono Trigger vs. Chrono Cross" project I am slowly developing.
Good first video! Great game! Welcome to the world of Youtube Poeden:-)

This is one of the hardest games I've ever played.
The style is really great but I could never get anywhere.
You should finish this LP! The commentary is fantastic.

Sorry for the double post.
Youtube refused to show me whether or not my comment was posted.
It's gone worse since they changed the comments setup.
Reloading the page didn't help. I had to click the "View all Comments" button to see my post.

@Poeden
Thanks for the somewhat delayed reply! XD
You make it sound like one of those plans we come up with throughout our lives, that'll never see execution.
Don't feel bad about it, though. How about any other LPs? You didn't seem overly active here, recently. =)
