  • Great video.

  • I love how you make a video, fill in the discription underneath thoroughly, and you're still asked every question imaginable..

  • @smokarette

Thanks very much for the comment

  • Nice video. Thanks , I learned something new today. Also I like Suzanne Vega. Did she change her name. I have heard other songs on the radio that sounds like her but a different name which I can't remember.

  • good video... black & white though?

  • love the video.. hate the song.. seriously, I'd rather listen to the roar of the flames and pounding steel

  • absolutaly fantastic brother ! thanks !

  • Excellent video! bravo! We're like-minded it seems. You make a thing...and then you're not satisfied until you make the tool that made the thing...but then you're not happy until you've built the machine to make the tool to make the thing...lol It's great, isn't it?

  • I just found your channel.

You obviously have a talent for woodworking...and video making ! thank you for making them.

  • Thanks for the comment. I hope you are inspired in some way.

  • dang, I've spent the last 20 years trying to forget that song

  • Oh Well

  • Outstanding video Toni, I really enjoy what you show us.

  • Thanks for the comment. Just remember to pass on your skills so they never die out.

  • another really interesting video, thanks for sharing

  • Thanks for the comment. I hope you are inspired in some way.

  • Was that oil you dipped it in ? Nice forge, I made one out of an air bed inflater. Get's mighty hot.

  • No, It was water.

  • Thanks for the great vids. This may be off topic but thanks for helping me discover Suzanne Vega.

  • I appreciate your comment and am only too glad you like Suzanne Vega - hope you have many hours of happy listening.

  • haha, i thought this was going to teach me how to bowl using a hook, woops

  • Thanks again for a wonderful video, I really

liked how it started off by showing the house in the snow and moved to the shop.

    sam

  • Thanks for commenting. I thought it might make a nice scene and you have confirmed that - glad you enjoyed it.

  • In Canada, similar anvils are available from "Canadian Tire" stores. The modern version of the village general store.

I like the look of the charcoal that you are using. It seems to respond well to the air blast. Have you tried Blacksmit's coal?

  • Thank you for the info re: anvils. The reason I use charcoal is because I can make it from the willow I have available to me. I thought it might burn away quite quickly with the air blast but it works very well. With the hearth full up and a 16mm bar in the hottest part it takes seconds to reach a workable heat - and only a few seconds more to melt. I have not tried Blacksmith's coal.

  • Now hooked to your channel, watched everything at least once through. Wish you had more on your "living" bowl turning set up, that was inspirational. Im also now seriously considering blacksmithing up some tools myself (buying them is right out, quite expensive). Would like to know just what the 16mm bar was, some specific quality of tool steel?

Thanks and keep the videos coming.

  • You just know that with this economy, more people will be making their own tools and doing this wonderful type of work. Thanks for the demonstration. Can I make a suggestion about the anvil? Your back will love you if you get the face of the anvil even with your knuckles as your arm hangs at your side. A lot less bending, Also the point at which your strike is the most efficient.

  • Thanks for commenting. I am aware of the points you make and when I have more time and materials, I will be organising things more efficiently

  • Very nice video thanks for sharing it. 5*

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment.

  • Quality as ever toni. Where did you get the mini anvil from? What metal is it made from? You have great taste in music too. I have found memories of seeing Suzanne in the 80's at the Royal Albert Hall. Great guitar player too.

  • Good day Sir! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I cannot remember where I picked up the anvil - I think it was a show I was demonstrating at on the south coast somewhere. Let me give it some thought and if I can recommend somewhere to obtain one, I will get back to you. The metal I used is from an old Austin A40 suspension coil. I hope you are getting some good use from your wooden bowl.

  • This video is beautiful to look at as well as educational!!!

  • Thanks for your comments they are very much appreciated.

  • very nice, simple and effective.

  • Thanks for commenting

  • Awesome. It's a good idea to use a suspension coil, thx a lot :D Greetings!

  • Great forge set up!
