Speed: Final Doom had great speed, which implemented precise dodging, quick cornering n all that jazz. Doom 3 was extremely sluggish. though graphics were nice, they slowed down the game style to the point you were forced to see every graphics detail, like credits in a movie.

Player Skill: The original doom was fucking hard. Doom 3 was like playing F.E.A.R.. my girlfriend beat it, never playing fps in her life, and now it sits on the shelf.

Enemies: Like tons of them. in each level. thats hell

In interviews, they have said that Doom 4 will not have as much of an emphasis on the horror styled gameplay of Doom 3.. I'm still anticipating it greatly though! And that's also because it's going to be on the new game engine produced by id which is apparently going to be very badass.
