  • I remember looking at them when they were bran new a DJ cycles when me and dad were picking up my 1980 Yamaha MX 100 I got for Christmas that year. I was 14 at the time.

  • hey will u sell it for 500$?

  • @AGray394 I already sold it for $800

  • 28 years old?

what a shame, that bike has NEVER been ridden like it was intended to rode.

  • @MrHobiecat How would you know if it was never ridden? I only had it in my possession for 5 years and before that it was ridden very regularly. It was just very well maintained and built very well.

  • @5starstunta Go watch the '60s video On any given Sunday.

Enduro bikes dont last 28 years if you ride them like they were intended.

  • @MrHobiecat I have watched that movie and it is awesome but this bike was ridden and it's not a shame that it is in this condition.

  • i have the same bike but a 250...and im 12...but i fit it!

  • why no jumpin i do on mine

  • hey, you sold a gift?:))

  • @dragos070395 Yea but it wasn't like a Christmas gift it was more like a "hey I don't want this in my garage anymore" gift. I only sold it because it took up space and I rarely rode it.

  • sweeeeet bike

  • make more vids of this i have the same one but 125

  • @carriedellinger I would make more videos but I sold the bike about 6 months ago for $800. It just sat in my garage and needed a good home.

  • cool bike

  • @feeder123456 Thanks

  • are you sure its not a 125 because i have a dt enduro 125 dt

  • @carriedellinger dude it says 175 on the side panel.

  • I have a '73 lt2 100.

  • I have a 1982 Honda ct 70 nice bike.

  • i have a 125 ensuro 1980 125 yamaha

  • I have an 82 250.. its in good shape just got new to bikes so help is appreciated where is the battery? right under the seat right?

  • @Kyse44 The battery for this bike was behind the right side pannel.

  • @5starstunta Yeah i found appreciate it..do you know where i can order spokes for the bike

  • is it for sale

  • @MrCcj13 It was for sale. It went for $800.

  • Wow, you starting that bike brought back a lot of memories (Good and bad) of my '76 DT 175. I sold it to my dad last year because I had WAAAAAY too many problems with it and he thought he could fix it. She sure was fast and fun when she was running right, but it was just keeping it running that was the problem.

  • Now you need to strip down the lights, speedometers, plastics, and the mirrors. And get some dirt bike tires so you can make it even better off road. But keep those mirrors and stuff because thats good for selling it or when you get a motorcycle license

  • @redneck9507 I sold the bike as it was and got $800. The guy now rides it on the roads of DC. I got a F4i for the street.

  • What the poo? How old are you? surely thats illegal!

  • @jellyking12345 I'm 17 and I'm not sure whats illegal about this video.

  • nothing is illegal about the video....... but for him to ride that bike because it is a 175cc and he is 9.

  • @jellyking12345 WTF ? Since when do people say,"What the poo" ?

  • Since tommorow....

  • @jellyking12345 Say Wha... ?!?

  • Yes.

  • good bike man. i have a 72 kawasaki R250 and a 74 suzuki 400. gotta love the old timers! keep bikes like those original

  • hujowe

  • do you like it?im thinkin bout gettin a 1971 for 850...

  • @HoboLifeDrew I don't ride it much but its an amazingly built bike and does well on the trails and the road.

  • They don't make 'em like that anymore! You'd probably get a good price on it, if you decided to sell it.

  • @bigkitten I have an ad on craigslist now for $1,500 but everyone keeps lowballing offers.

  • are the tires on it original

  • @elic1010 I don't believe so, but they could be original.

  • just picked on up the same but no lights or gauges im not going to bother hooking them back up just going to get the speedo and tack though do you knoe anyone who has some for

    sale

  • @202holden No, sorry i don't know anyone selling the gauges but you could try bike bandit and see if they have the oem ones.

  • I would have killed to have a bike like yours back in the day. There's still something to be said for those old 2 strokes. I've owned a lot of bikes from sport bikes, standards, cruisers, scooters and dual purpose machines. I currently own a Yamaha DT125 O1W and I love it. Takes me back to better days.

  • @CRDT i almost landed one in san diego for 300 bucks needing a clutch return spring. but that didnt ever happen. :( so i got a suzuki drz 125. i like old bikes because they dont break down very much. and when they do its easy and cheap to fix! lol all of the sealed cartrige single unit unservicable junk on new stuff. pleh.

  • @highdeserthater Yeah you're right. The high tech machines that have been coming out for some time now are superior in terms of performance but when things break down, and they will break down eventually, be prepared to spend a fortune. We can have our thrills on older and easier to maintain machinery, why bother with new stuff? A friend of mine had a DT 175. I forgot what vintage that was. Unfortunately for me, he sold it the day before I approached him into selling it to me.

  • Man that takes me back... I love those cranky old bikes. I can still smell that exhaust! Thanks kid!

  • @MuKuAXX Haha no problem, glad i can bring back memories.

  • where did you get the speed controller? there you can see how fast you drive

  • @TheMrDrift It comes stock on the bike but trail tech makes one i believe for all types of bikes.

  • i have that bike.. my side panals broke too.. does the throttle hang up on yours? iv had this problem a couple tiems.. iv pulled the spark plug cables off and killed all the switches turned gas off and it hangs at 9000 rpms... its scary as hell

  • @TElphee Never had a problem with my throttle sticking. I would just lube the cable and throttle housing.

  • That must be an American spec bike? - the rear monoshock subframe was changed in 1979 from the black tubular type to the silver painted bix section & that colour scheme was never used in the UK. They were a great bike- nice to see they are still in use in the US!

  • at what speeds do you use the 4 5 6 gears man?

  • @samrick92 It depends but usually anything above 25mph. I this bike only has 5 gears.

  • @5starstunta mine (1982) is a 125 model but changed engine block to upgrade it to 175. it has six gears. ive only driven it twice and its real funnnnnnn

  • That must be an American spec bike? - the rear monoshock subframe was changed in 1979 from the black tubular type to the silver painted bix section & that colour scheme was never used in the UK. The gearing was odd- 1st wasn't quite low enough for serious off-road use and 6th was a little too low many people found in the day. They were a great bike though- nice to see they are still in use in the US! Getting vary rare now.

  • Iv'e got the same exact enduro

  • "dont wana do no jumps on it" Mate its built like a shit house. Sounds just like my YZ 1980

  • i started mine today it its loud. but it sounded good. hope to try to ride tomorrow.

  • Nice, good to hear you got it running

  • Does it have one or two shocks in the rear? That bike shound pretty good. nice vid!

  • Thank you, and it has one shock in the rear and I believe this was the first year Yamaha came out with the monoshock

  • What kind of battery does this bike use like volts, amps ect. Mine is missing alot. I just cleaned the carb on it now have to drain gas then test it hopefully it works.

  • the bike is very well kept, is new and original saver I would like to model?

  • I'm sorry but your English is terrible.

  • that is way better looking than the one we had as a beater. my dads friend gave it to him. he found in an old van. it had full knobys , no turn sigs, no lights, no speed or tachometer, dented gas tank ,and there was NO SILENCER IT WAS AS LOUD A MOTHER FUCKER. but for 18 bucks we got it running. we had to get a new battery and clean the carb. it started right up and it actually ran good. then we sold it for 250 bucks.

  • Hey how do you clean the carb i just got one used and want to know how to clean about every thing on it. like the brakes are hard, carb needs to be cleaned, clutch sticks and is hard to pull. Any help would do.

  • You might do a search on youtube to find how to clean your carb.

As for the cables they may need to be replaced and the clutch may need new plates and springs but try spraying some cable cleaner in them and then working them back and forth. Also remember to disconnect both ends before spraying cleaner in. It makes it easier.

  • Hey thanks, i will try.

  • Had a 1972 dt175, thing went good, would still run up to 75mph until the transmission grenaded lol..

  • my clutch whines when i pull it but that's about it. Im taking it to a shop because if i warm it up (ride between 10-45 min) it wont start up for about 45 minutes. Ugh. I miss riding it. Old school bikes are cool. It's a bit hevy topping out at about 225lbs w/ a full tank of gas, but i can wheelie and do jumps. Crazy fun. I also have a pocket bike that is insane to ride at topspeed. The thing literally goes 30mph and it's a 50cc 2-stroke engine with one gear.

  • i spelled 'heavy' wrong lol

  • holy shit that is real tidy for an old timer

  • Thanks

  • m8 if its a enduro bike you can jump it ive jump my 84 dt 6ft high doin 70 over a bridge

  • Yeah I'm not saying you can't jump it but it's not as good as the modern bikes.

  • wow, i have the 1978 model with over 200,000 miles on it, sadly, the top end is going (finally). but anyways, these things are so sick, i can wheelie about 100 feet in 2nd gear (i havent learned how to shift while in a wheelie

  • Very impressive.

I suprised that the engine held up for 200,000 miles.

    Did you ever rebuild it?

Also are you sure it doesn't have 20,000 miles?

  • yea, the engine is still kickin, im pretty sure 6-digits with a two in the very beginning is over 200,000, sorry if that sounded sarcastic, but yea, the only thing that was replaced was the transmission, wireing, and the top-end (only once though)

i got it from my grandfather last week for my b-day, its a beater, but he has taken care of it. the only problem with it was a small leak that was caused by moisture in the tank while sitting in storage for the winter

  • Oh I see how you are reading it now. The white number is hundredths of miles. So in reality it only has 20,000 miles.

Same thing happened to me when I first looked at it. Refer to 1:18 in the video.

  • mine has way different dials, my speedometer is digital, and the mile meter has 9 digits, the exact milage is 00234114.7

anyways, mine tells me speed, mileage, resetable milage, engine temp, and the amount of gas, all in one dial

the other dial tells me about the lights i have on, blinkers, highs, lows, brake, etc

i guess i have some after market electronics on it

  • Very impressive then

  • i have a 1978 model too.. it's an enduro... street legal (everything, even liscense plate) goes over 70 when lead additive is mixed with gas and tuned up

  • 2 strokes don't need lead additive.

  • mine does.... It is old and used to use lead gas and not unleaded. It works better with lead additive... it doesnt HAVE to have it, but works better. In fact i'm charging the battery right now and am going for a ride.... maybe i'll make a helmet cam thing... i've done it before.

  • Actually you are just wearing out your spark plugs early and adding wear to the crank bearings. 2 strokes do not need lead. Lead was used in the old days to raise octane and to lubricate valves in a 4 stroke. You don't need it. Just run some good gas and synthetic 2 stroke oil. Also check the shock pivots. They like to seize up and then that ruins your rear shock. I had one of these and several other similar Yamahas.

  • i have the same bike exept mine is silver

  • yo man i worked on one in school its was so bad but it turnded out very nice new yamaha green back in the day its mint the schools keeping it lmao the best work ive done yet man nice bike theres things are so quiet and there like one kikers.

  • Nice, I always wished I had taken shop class or VOTEC as we call it in freshman year. I'm going to be a junior and it's just too late.

  • wow were not allowed to take it in our freshman year but we can in junior

  • Yeah I would suggest it if you are serious about making your career a mechanic but otherwise my friends say that they don't really teach much in depth.

  • The bikes in great shape for a 1980...and a freebie lol. RIP UP THE STREETS

  • LOL me and my friend rode through our neighborhood for 2 hours yesterday.

  • haha wow i look at your and then i look at mine(have the same bike) and yours is in ALOT better shape mine doesnt even look like the same bike and for the side panels use zip ties there alot stronger and neater trust me mines almost held together by zip ties;)

  • Lol I think I need to switch to zip tys myself. The electric tape is not working.

  • haha ya but there tough bikes they take a tun of abuse

  • haha i have the same bike i call it the rambo bike

  • Haha I know

  • Modern motor oil will make the clutch slip. You should be running automatic transmission fluid. Also there are some modern Yamaha's that share the same basic engine. I don't think a new set of clutch plates or rebuilding the top end would be all that much. Other then being tired those bikes are becoming collectable and increasing in value.

  • I looked into it and because the parts are so rare it would be almost $3,000.

  • RT 180 is basically the same. And the 200 cc ATV engine is basically the same. There are other options then the stealer "dealer".

  • Be careful what oil you put in the transmission. That will make the clutch slip. Also take apart the rear suspension and grease all the pivot points. They will seize up and ruin the monoshock. Healthy that bike should be good for about 70mph. They are durable and fun to ride. The stock tires are crap, get some good modern fresh tires.

  • Yeah I actually have motor oil in the transmission but it doesn't really make a difference because the clutch is totally trashed. The previous owner did zero maintenance and treated it like crap.

As for the suspension, I barely ride it maybe once every two months so I think it's good.

And the top end is also pretty worn on my bike so it tops out around 40mph, and the clutch slips a lot.

  • i got the same exact one but no tac and spedo more offroady

  • You might have the IT 175

  • hey man i might wanna buy something like that r u in the us????the 1 i want is a dt 125 but its like a 2000 year i've seen it on the spanish channels u think i can get the 1 i want in the us????if some1 know lemme know!!!!

  • I live in the US but this one has been here since the 80's. I think because of the emission standards in the US that the Yamaha DT line was discontinued. You might be able to get one imported but it would be costly.

You should just buy a YZ125 and put a heavier flywheel and Baja lighting kit on and it would be almost like the DT125

  • idk you shud look it up on ebay

  • how much is a dt175 worth if its in good condition and everything works?

  • I would say only about $1,500 because they are not that rare of a motorcycle.

  • heh mine stops from the killswitch and (sometimes) from the key. Your is in good shape. Mine doesnt even have wires in it xD

  • i getting this exact same bike r they fast dude???? and if it has good suspension would it be good for jumps???

  • It's not as fast as it used to be. It used to do 60mph but now it tops out at 45mph but the clutch is toast in mine also.

As for the suspension, it not nearly as good as the newer bikes but you could do some small table tops.

  • alright thats cool

  • iv got a 1994 Honda Elsinore 175 rare with 550 original miles exelint condition paid $350

  • That awesome, but whats even more awesome is I got my for free.

  • i thought they stopped making those in the 80's

  • old bike sounds pretty good, it looks like it'd be in the vintage class

  • Yeah I'd never race it though.

  • hey i got the same bike, but i took out all my lights and all that, i have rebored it 2 a 180, and put in new friction plates and it goes hard, i take it riding at the farm in qld doing hilclimbs and jumps and it hasnt fuked up yet, good old bikes thye never die and r a good ride,

i like you bike, bloody sweet

  • Thanks, I think I might rebore it myself someday because right now the engine is in pretty bad shape and doesn't pull like it used to.

    Gotta love the old bikes

  • i have a dt 175 aswell, we took the oil injection off and just run it on premix. i also got given another one, its been sittin a while

  • Does it run better on premix?

  • i didnt have it long before we started just using premix, but if its all still set up and working i suggest you keep it all ridgy didg

  • thats only 2662 thousand miles the last one is for tenths of a mile at least thats how my suzuki was.... so just lettin ya know

  • Yeah I realized that after I made the video. But good catch.

  • nice bike man, i have an 87 kawi ke 100, its also oil injected, i hate the oil injection if the pump dies your gonna burn up the engine, and tonight miney decided to split the hose lol, take care of that thing i want it lol.

  • Yeah, you just gotta hope it doesn't

  • NICE BIKE

  • Thanks

  • Thats in nice condition!

  • Sweet bike i am 14 and have the same one only blue. just spent 300$ rebuilding. watch the airfilter it will crack ar tare on this modle, explaning the 300$

  • I haven't had that problem but I also have never laid it down since I have owned it and I mainly only ride it on the road.

  • I never ride my dt on anything but dirt, i'm only 13 and got lots of trails and tracks around my house. I live on a farm with lots of dust and dirt roads, got a bit of tar but they are main roads so I can't go on them.

  • Yeah I live in the suburbs so I only ride my 175 on the road because it's not worthy of the track.

  • have you seen all of my videos? if not check out moto_0001 with the jump at the start

  • That video is sick and you actually ride your 175 on dirt.

  • I rekon the suspension on mine has gone to. I had the front end rebuilt a year ago, since then I've broken the frame behind the left side pannel and the speedometer fell off while doing a jump. also colided with my uncle's gokart at about 50km.

  • no wonder you got it for free LMAO!

  • I got one of those but I jump 10 metres and flatland it also got 2metre double that I over jump and flat land

  • Yeah I saw your videos. The suspension on my bike is completely shot.

  • Okay, question, what is the orangeish redish light at the 6,000 RPM mark on the tach? I haven't got one of those on my 1975 so I don't know what it is for.

  • That on mine is for the low oil level. Its broken on mine though and is always on for some reason even after a fresh oil change.

  • Oh I saw it and was like ??? Cause i've never seen it before. Thanks for the info [=

  • No problem

  • It smokes quite a bit was it cold?

  • No I think it just runs a bit rich and I had only warmed it up for like 5 minutes before.

  • wow that thing is in really good shape...., sounds great. exspecially for how old it is and everything still works....idles good to was it warmed up?

  • Not really I had started it for less than a minute before I made the video.

  • Hallo,

Rambo in First Blood have got the same Motocycle

  • That's sweet I never knew that.

  • Nice bike. I have a 1975. I have 2 videos about it if ya wanna check them out. Nice bike though.

  • Great bike and a well done video.

  • Thanks

  • Sweet Ride. I've got 1981 Yamaha 100 enduro and a 1982 Yamaha 80 enduro. Both in great condition. Don't get to ride them much anymore, but loved it when I was a kid.

  • Yeah It's so much fun riding this bike at night.

  • do you know by chance if this bike has points or a CDI? what kind of gas mileage do you get?

  • I don'g believe it has a CDI and I don't know the exact gas mileage but I would say it gets anywhere from 30 to 40 miles a gallon.

  • Only 30 to 40? I get as much as 90 on mine. It's only a few years older than yours.

  • 30 to 40 what?

  • You say your bike only gets 30 to 40 miles per gallon for fuel economy.

  • Oh yeah it does. It think the top end needs replacing

  • good little bike, some were used for enduros here in uk.they dont survive so well in our damp climate.

  • They still make them in the uk?

  • never made in uk,we could buy them from about1977 to early eighties, when new laws restricted learners to 125cc and 12bhp made them unpopular.dt125 liquid cooled took over.175cc became an odd size, shame nothing quite like it anymore.

  • Yeah I love this bike although I would never race it it is a great trail bike and I always liked 2 strokes better than 4 strokes.
