I agree that Kim's version is really a bit too strong. However, this is her style. She always sings with great passion. Take a look at her video singing "Nagara Gawa Enka". Her passion in interpreting this song will blow you away.

Because it's not Misora singing it. Kim was asked to cover it during a tribute...hence the powers may be did indeed understand the different styles of each. I feel Kim gave her passion and to not see it is just being subjective. Theresa Tang sang this song also and did a softer cover but that does not mean Theresa did not put her heart into it. Again it's not suppose to be Misora's version or they would have just played the video and forget the cover from Kim.

yeah! Kim sings with passion, it may bit a little too much for some but this is a nice cover.

I have to admit that Ms. Kim's interpretation is a little bit 'too strong.' This is supposed to be a more calm song that requires a feeling coming deeply from your heart; something in the original Ms. Misora's version but missing here.

I thought it was very well-sung by Kim Yeon Ja. I remember she sings a Korean song called Imujin-gawa with such intensity. I think that Misora Hibari would be happy to hear her song being sung by such talented musicians.

Check out Mari Kaneko's video on Youtube. She sings the same song. I thought she's either an alcoholic or a drug addic, just came out from rehabilitation center.

I beg to differ...This cover is a masterpiece. The style is her style and the power is the passion of enka itself. It's a tribute to probably the greatest of all Japanese enka singers. To say it's not nice is like saying Teresa Teng is version of this same song is less dynamic since Miss Tengs version is much softer. We can't have it the same way when a tribute is delivered...the original will always be that.
