  • A SIN IS A SIN...POINT BLANK I JUST HOPE THAT THE FLOCK THAT FOLLOWS HIM READ THE BIBLE FOR KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING AND THAT THEY ALL KNOW THAT ITS ABOMINATION FOR A MAN TO SLEEP WITH A MAN AND FOR A WOMEN TO SLEEP WITH A WOMEN....WHATEVER IS DONE AT THE TOP FALLS TO THE BOTTOM..I WILL PRAY FOR BISHOP GENE ROBINSON TO BE DELIVERED...AND EVERYONE ELSE...

  • Watched this on a very wet and windy Sunday in Ireland,North. Brought a lot of warmth and belonging to this stranger on forgotten shores. Much more spirituality and faith in this one interview, than what i had to sit through earlier in the day. If only they who speak for "God, "could take from it and pass it on to the faithful flock. Can't see it happening any day soon. But, here's one man who has opened the door and let the light shine in. May it never close.

  • Interested in knowing what true Christianity teaches on same gender marriage and Homosexuality? check out our video on "same gender marriage" by typing into youtube and searching for "Modern Challenges of Faith" titled +++ Same Gender Marriage - An Orthodox Prespective - Modern Challenges of Faith +++

  • Colossians 2:8 - See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

He speaks from a personal philosophy standpoint. Please read your Bible to get the truth for urself. Homosexuality is ungodly. Read Romans 1 for starters. I'd hate for him to bring down others w/this philosophy. No hard feelings against him though, I pray he adheres to the truth too &repent of his sins.

  • woMEn are MOre hoMophoBIC thaN Men

  • Since no one here reads or understands the hebrew or aramaic texts that the scriptures are originally written in , it is reasonable to assume that some of the translations might be "guess work" . For instance, "thou shalt not kill" really does translate into "thou shalt not murder" as there is no word in the hebrew language for "murder" (murder , is taking a life out of malicious intent) . I brought that up so that I could ask you this, where in the bible does it say homosexuality is a sin?

  • a homosexual christian is an oxymoron.

  • @IanLoewen A homophobic Christian is an oxymoron.

  • @MassLiberal1 call me what you want. The truth is homosexuality is a sin in the Bible. This guy is an unrepentant sinner (homosexuality is just one of the sins he is unrepentant of). I am pointing out the sin of homosexuality. You calling me homophobic just shows how much you lack knowledge of the Bible.

  • @IanLoewen Your judgementalism is showing (didn't Jesus say something about that?). God will forgive you for it. Peace.

  • This bishop said that abortion is God's will and that sodomy is God's will for our lives. It's a reverso exodus back into Egypt.

  • This bishop told Planned Parenthood to use a religious appeal to get christians to accept and promote abortion.

  • sinning people will be damned!

its all going to start soon

    this is the proof

  • How can a "christian priest" be gay? Only in America! Shame on them!

  • @jelejazz ... how can a member of the Christian faithful be judgmental when judgement is God's alone .. shame on you and your blasphemy

  • By the way, Thomas Edison was agnostic, not atheist.

  • What a touching interview from an obviously thoughtful, intelligent and deeply spiritual person. I am filled with admiration.

  • @MDeMontfortTrefry I agree :-)

  • Jesuit Jesuit Jesuit sent to infiltrate and corrupt the Church

  • This kind of super liberal thinking, where man's reason and preference takes precedence over God's sovereign law, will tear us apart.

We are in the end times, because make no mistake, we are dying.

  • Reason has catapulted the world forward. Just look at all that has happend since the Age of Reason (The Enlightenment) took hold. You think unquestioning obesiance is going to save the world? Think again.

  • beatbuddy, buzz off. your not arguing the topic at hand, your just trying to push a nonsensical atheistic agenda. I am well aware that i am thought by you people intellectually inferior for my beliefs. We are arguing whether or not God allows homosexuality, not whether God has authority or if his existence is valid. I am done speaking with you.

  • Funny, the "Brights" are zealots!

  • The vast majority of atheists are accepting of homosexuality because they don't adhere to the notion that something is wrong solely because some ancient book with obscure origins says it is. Atheists believe that organized religion constipates the brain, therefore, they appear smarter.

  • Appear smarter? I beg to differ. The atheists refusal/ inability to think outside the box represents one of science's greatest foes. Arrogance. There is no point in arguing with you. Like a child, you decide the answer to a

question without any investigation. I'm here because I am searching for answers. You are here to show off. You have "divine" knowledge

of the universe's origins despite how far we are away from scientifically affirming it.

  • Not long ago, flight was impossible. The lightbulb was inconceivable. As I understand it, an atheist's morality exists solely within the confines of his brain. So who's deluding themselves?

  • Merk, and the light bulb was invented by an athist (Edison).lol, So was Flight, with the Wright Bors.

  • I believe I understand now why people like you are so adamant in the belief that there is no God. When asked if he was wrong, Dawkins answered with "what if i'm wrong about the juju at the bottom of the sea?"

You don't bother to consider the existence of God, because you simply don't care.

  • It is BECAUSE atheists think outside the box that they are atheists. They are atheists BECAUSE they have read the Bible. The difference between atheists and Christians is that the former are intellectually honest. You're entire message reeks with psychological projection. Wake up and smell the coffee.

  • Merk, we would be ablle to think out side of the box, if we had one ounce of evidnce, but no one can even provide even poor evidnce.

  • @Merkkyrr - he never said anything against it.

  • I think people need to understand that the Bible was written with cultural references. We are not the Jews of the past, and we need to stop trying to be. There are lessons in the Bible worth taking, but anything that harms others, shall harm you in turn. The Romans, Egyptians, Greeks all practiced homosexuality, all all in their turn conquered the Jews - it makes sense that they would dislike homosexual behavior. There is a lot they did not know, that we know today, and we need to just grow up.

  • So we can pick and choose out of the bible, according to modern tastes??? Morals are not dictated by the times. If that were the case, we could interpret the bible to condone anything at all. Why even bother to read it?

  • Christians have been picking and choosing from the Bible from day one. First of all, the acceptance of committed homosexual relationships has all the rational backing. There are 614 abominations in the Bible. Why is the one pertaining to gay men always singled out? Further, nowhere is the Bible clear on the subject, and even it it were, it wouldn't matter. All that is necessary is some RATIONAL justification

  • Comment removed

  • Jesus said you must be born again. If you are not than it doesn't matter what else you chose cus your not covered by Jesus' blood and doomed anyway - Christians shouldn't care what atheists do . Romans 1 refers to Gods people!! (the Church - that before Jesus was exclusively Jews) Judgement will start at the house of God 1 Peter 4: 17 The time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

  • ya phill, lets just be everyones friend. God wont mind, hes a liberal after all, right? when has God ever said no? And while were at it, sodomy isn't that far off either. And neither is rape! God after all, would rather that we outright disobey him than upset people, right? You are an apostate, and you are fighting against God himself. The bible is clear as air on the subject of homosexuality. It is an abomination, thats what God said, and who are you to question him?

  • This is an abomination before God!!

  • wat is? the conversation, the bishop or homosexuality?

  • @MariannNicole - prove it please

  • @brycejacksoncvt 1 Chorinthians 6:9-11 clearly states that people who practice homosexuality (as well as fornicators, idolaters, adulters, sexually immoral, etc) cannot inherit the kindgom of God. Hope this helps. Not really looking to debate.

  • @MariannNicole hmmm , I just read Paul's first letter to the CORINTHIANS (you spelled it wrong ) and no where in that does it say any of that .. would you like me to retype the entire part for you ?

  • @brycejacksoncvt That won't be necessary. I'm not sure what version of the bible you read. It gives a very clear list of people who cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Its in there. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (sorry about the spelling) Focus on verse 9. Some bibles say men that sleep with men (women that sleep with women). Someone else on here posted that same scripture.

  • @MariannNicole FUck you ignorant cunt

  • @TheTruth2life

While I DO NOT AGREE with MariannNicole's standpoint at all, calling someone an "ignorant c**t" is no better then calling someone a "f*ggot." Both are lewd and vulgar statements, unintelligible and nasty in every respect. Using such language does no good for the gay rights movement. In fact, it does more bad then good. Try using love and understanding, maybe, somewhat like Gene Robinson, in the video above. He's an amazing person, and I'm sure we could all learn from him.

  • 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

  • dude i dont want the kingdom of god, im happy wit my home tanx. and after dat i want to be a cat or a butterfly or sumtin!

  • your joking right?

  • Am I the only person that finds this hilarious?

  • no i doubt u are. i find it funny dat people can hate an entire group that they know nothing about on the basis of a few lines in a book....

  • But yea, does anyone know what show I was on about earlier? Id like to find it again... (and again sorry but it was a lot longer than i realised, so i had to cut and paste and stuff...

  • them out of their own fear or dislike or what ever. Society is changing. If you look at societies such as the ancient Greeks and Romans, there was no fear or discrimination of homophobia; it was an openly practiced way of life. Then along came the church and suddenly we find persecution and hatred. Funny that. Its things like that that have pushed me away from the church. Any way, those are just my opinions. Went on a bit of a ramble there, I apologise.

  • I agree with him on a lot of points, just look at all the things the church has changed its mind on. Divorce for instance. I hope that eventually it will change its mind on this topic. I can't see that happening in our lifetime, but these things do take time. Eventually it will. I don't have any doubts about that. Why would god make us the way we are if he didn't love us. I think its homophobic individuals that point the finger at gays as a whole and condemn them

  • I just watched this Bishop with Matt Lauer

the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound [2] doctrine, 1 Timothy- So GOD does not mean this? Jesus said a Man leaves his family and cleaves to his wife, Did Jesus mean person but instead said Wife.

We are definetly in the End of Days.

  • i was watching a programme on tv last night. gene was having an interview with an english guy. it was on at about 4 or 5am. i was hoping to find it on youtube. it was very interesting. hes a strong man. i find it facinating how he interprets the scriptures. he mentioned one where it says sumthing along the lines of having to give away all your possessions, and he said the church doesnt take that literally, we dont see people giving away all our possessions.

  • I had the blessing of meeting Bishop Gene Robinson in a visit to my church in Florida. I had the opportunity to have a conversation with him and he is a very calm, personable, sweet and down to hearth person. You can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit around him. God is using him to tell the world that God loves us just the way he created us. God is love, mercy and compassion NOT hatred ore discrimination. May God bless all with an open hart!!!!

  • Gene Robinson and I met just last week in Concord, New Hampshire. You have the impact of his character down pat, but as for me being an atheist, I just ignore the God part.

  • please study the bible everyone. gene robinson is a man of God, and God doesn't condemn homosexuality

  • I would absolutely love to know what translation of the Bible you are reading!?!?!?! Please give a scripture that supports this idiotic comment!?!?!

  • hello. first of all please relax.

give me your email. i'd rather not talk over youtube if you are seriously curious about this :]

and yes, i'd love to talk to you about it and also listen to your side

  • My apologies. I dont give out my email but if you would just post ONE scripture on here that supports this I guarantee I will not to turn it into a huge debate.

  • haha i see.

please dont' take this in an offensive manner

but have you ever looked at the viewpoints of christians who accept homosexuals?

i don't think it'll be much of a discussion if you don't know both sides.

im not trying to sound as if i am more intelligent nor better informed then you are

but i would just like you to give the "other" side an opportunity.

and to the request of me posting one verse that supports homosexuality; i would give you the bible verses about love, [cont]

  • but you most likely won't take that as evident proof.

but also i would have to ask you to post up a verse that condemns homosexuality; and before you quote verses like

    genesis 19:4-29

    leviticus 18

    leviticus 21

    romans 1:18-31

verses alont those lines, i really want to sincerely ask you to look into it.

I don't think its fair for 2 youtubers with mere knowledge of scripture and God's love to be debating this like that, but i do believe we are entitled to our opinions.

  • why did i say what i said in the below posting?

well because homosexuality is right now being hotly debated in major branches of christianity.

now take that for a minute and ponder upon it.

If it was such a clear cut black/white issue, it wouldn't be discusses; nor would there be huge numbers of denominations that accept homosexuality. haha im talking too much, and i have way too many things i'd have to bring up. thank you for giving me your time. i hope i didn't offend you. :]

  • You did not offend me...know this...I in no way am against homosexuals as people..I am against the practice of homosexuality. In the same manner its not my place(nor anyone elses) to speak out against an individual who has commited adultery. But I would never hesitate to say that the practice of adultery is condemned in the Bible. (cont.)

  • now as far as me "looking into it" as you have asked..you have given me nothing to look into... you did however post several scriptures that condemn the very thing your defending? I'm a little confused....?

  • and also your comments, "I do believe we are entitled to our opinions," and, "God doesn't condemn homosexuality," I believe, that would be contradicting yourself, dont you? Either you believe God's inspired word, the Bible, or you dont simple as that.

  • The mistake that Christians make is that the Bible is an authoritative text on homosexuality. Actually, the Bible says nothing of relevance to gay people's lives. All passages are within the subjective contexts of idolatry, cultic prohibition, and abusive behavior. There is no objective standard to go by. The Bible offers no rational, let alone irrational, explanation why homosexuality is wrong, and I have never heard one from anywhere else.

  • Actually the bible does say something on the matter of homosexuality. "Do not lie with a man as you would a woman for that is abominable to the lord".

  • You have singled out an abomination out of 614! And ask yourself this, why is lesbian sex not included among these abominations. Where did you get the idea that Levictus is a code of ethics, rather than a cultic code. Since when are Christians bound by Levitical law?

  • By the way, every abomination is equal. I am not singling out homosexuality, again that is simply the topic at hand. I'd say grow up, but then you would reply with something to the effect of "Well you christians should start growing up and stop believing in fairy tales". I belive in God, and I have spent a very long time to reach that conclusion, and your thread hanging arguments will not turn me so easily.

  • Me? Grow up? I always thought of those who can't deal with homosexuality as emtionally unstable and insecure. Stop giving me the Orwellian goobledygook. Treating all abominations equally? There is a vegetable garden in my back yard. Many different seeds are planted in it. Are you going to call this an abominable act? That's what Leviticus calls it! Get real, dear; and face the fact that you live in a delusional, shamefully selective glass bubble.

  • The "many seeds in one garden" is a metaphor genius. It refers to situations like this where the church whores itself off to pagan practices in an effort to be everyone's friend.

  • It never ceases to amuse me how you fundamentalists pick and choose in the Bible what is meant to be taken literally and what is to be taken as metaphor. Sounds like you typical display of Orwellian doublethink. Criteria please?

  • wo wo wo. This is very simple. If it advised in the bible to "not put all your eggs in one basket", would you take that literally? I think its safe to just assume that the writers of the bible expected some basic intelligence from it's readers. Lets not be stupid here.

  • Anyone who thinks the Bible is literally true, or believes something is true solely because the Bible says it, is not very bright. There is no reason to suppose the Bible is the authority on homosexuality. We can discount the Old Testament as inapplicable and we can prove that Paul was just plain ignorant.

  • prove it.

  • All of the nonpartisan research and data that has accumulated in the last 40 years proves it. Simply knowing gay people personally proves it. But you're a fundy, facts are not important.

  • No. I actually don't assume that the writers expected readers to have some basic intelligence...obviously from your remarks.

  • If were going to degenerate to such petty and obvious semantic arguments, than I see no point in listening to you at all.

  • You don't want to learn; you only want to believe. Shame on you, and all others who "think" like you.

  • The best post I've seen so far.

  • Very gracious of you.

  • so phil, you are arguing christian doctrine that you don't even believe? Why bother? The question is not whether the bible is true, argue that on a william craig vid. The question is whether or not apostasy should be tolerated by the church. As you are not part of it, i don't see what say you have in the matter.

  • @Merkkyrr - its been so long since bible school , who was the lord addressing in that verse?

  • The condemnation of homosexuality is immoral because it puts gays in a dilemma. By forfeiting your sexuality, you deprive yourself of the joys of love, commitment, and companionship in which sexuality is basic. Gays are encouraged to marry people they're not attracted to, and we have seen the consequences of pretending to be what you're not. Gays must overcome the imposed burden of the shame and guilt that are serious obstacles to building strong and healthy relationships.

  • tough. God says homosexuality is immoral, so who cares what you think.

  • Intelligent people listen to me. Stupid people listen to you. One would expect an intelligent person to say, "You know? I never looked at it from that angle before! You have a point there!" But this you will not do.

  • I'd love to just take Canon Robinson out for coffee or something; he seems so very personable and friendly and charming.

  • I don't know if it's clear from my statement, but I'm trying to say that Bishop Robinson is a true man of God who is inspired by God to lead us through these hard times. God Bless him!!

  • Canon Robinson has often said that he believes the Bible to be the the word of God, but not the words of God. As true Christian, I believe the Word of God to be (if you are familiar with the beliefs of the Christian faith) Christ Himself. To place the actual WORD of God below the words of god is nothing but idolatry. Don't allow your Lord and Saviour to be replaced by a golden calf.

  • False preacher.Your the reason thousands are leaving the ECUSA.Shame on heritics like you.You desecrate the word of God,to suit your own abnormal sickness. The true church rejects you.

  • I wonder where in the Bible or in Christian tradition did he find the notion that one can go back to the priest to "unmarry" our spouse.

    Should this become another "sacrament"?

  • why not...it's all mythological bullshit anyway.

people only cling to it because it makes them feel safer.

  • Your "response" is the only piece of BS here. Gene Robinson happens to be a Christian, so again: I wonder where in the Bible or in Christian tradition (which he claims to accept) did he find the notion that one can go back to the priest to "unmarry" our spouse. Unfortunately, the interviewer is so unaware of the way Christianity handles these issues that the question didn't even occur to him.

  • I wonder where in the Bible or in Christian tradition did he find the notion that one can go back to the priest to "unmarry" our spouse.

    Should this become another "sacrament"?

  • True Christian! I bet Jesus never ever thought that he is gay or heterosexual He just knows that Gene is one of His priests! *I know Jesus knows everything.*

  • Yes, Jesus doesn't care that he is in open defiance of God, he just knows that he is one of his priests, and so in your mind is in some state of diplomatic immunity with God!

    Are you crazy?

  • Here's to you, Bishop Robinson - Jesus loves you more than you may know :)

  • Amen!

  • Yay Canon Robinson!

  • God bless Gene Robinson and help him in his ministry

  • please help him to repent too!

  • Bishop Gene seems like he's just a real sweetie.
