Since there's no mana, and everything is cooldown based, are the cooldowns attunement specific? Or is it sort of like if you use skill "3" in fire, skill "3" in water/earth/air will also be on cooldown?

@TheRandomGuyNextDoor You've probably got your question answered by now, but no, there's no energy pool. They used to have it in earlier builds, but they've since gotten rid of it.  Every skill in the game is cooldown-based, with the exception of the thief profession, which has no cooldowns but has an energy pool of sorts called "initiative" instead.

This is the best ele gameplay vid so far...

1:40 using water element to stun/aoe, earth to slow down/delay and aoe...and then using wind to chase down the fleeing foe/fighting multiple enemies

2:20 using fire to destroy the enemy, then using water to pre-heal incase of spikes, then earth to increase defense while waiting for water skills to cooldown, then switch back to heal/deal damage right after being spiked

3:30 again, many switching of elements to different situations...amazing skills Karl.

My suspicion is, due to you can make a level 80 character in 3 second of getting the game, you will have the best PvP players from every game out there, competing in GW2. It will become the cult PvP game for bragging rights.

@Realpeopleneverpost This is so true lol. You'll easily be able to spot those hardcore braggarts that just play the game to PvP and nothing else, thinking PVE is for casuals. (which it won't be)

One thing that really stands out for me personally in GW2 PVP: that the battles don't end in 5 seconds. I hate in WoW how a single guy could drain your health completely in a few seconds using no more than a couple of abilities, even one shot you if he got a good crit or simply waaay out-geared you.

@ShadesOfFall I once had a duel in WoW WotLK which lasted 30 minutes, at which point I decided to give up cuz it didn't seem to be goin to end any other way. However, that was me as a Tank Blood Death Knight, vs a Prot Paladin. Apart from this extreme example you're totally right :) But tbh, I have no idea what it's like there now. I quit WoW more than a year ago.

@ElifiaKamigawa Yeah, if you get two tank-types against eachother the battles can last awhile, but in general the battles were over in a few seconds. My mage would often two shot most squishy classes (Fireball+Fireblast) and my Ele Shaman could take down guys with a simple Fire Shock and a couple of quick casting Lighting Bolts or a Lava Burst.

@0JustSomeStupidName0 Are you saying this isn't a skilled player? He is, Karl was the ele and just fyi, Izzy was the other developer on the red team. He's well know for being one of the "better" players and didn't fair too well against Karl's Ele. Some people have played the demo you know.

@WakkaaloaksTv Ofc there would be. You just had to time it right but the way it is now sucks. When u dodge u are for a short moment invincible. But when the devs dodge trough the electric aoe nothing happens till the dodge is over and they get stuned while not even standing in the aoe. this doesn't make any sense and it is noobish. The cage should at least take 2-3 seconds to form but it forms too quickly now, followed by mighty meteors. And its not a single target ability...

@CaptainBlackSparrows Just like you said when you dodge you are only invincible for a short time dodging into to it you still get the effect when your "temporary" invince is done, it is fine the way it is the skill is unique to elementalist just like a gaurdians shield or a theifs invis

My guardian will be, but the only think I've seen thus far that might be OP is an Elementalist's fire atunement while using a staff. It's all AoE but hits INSANELY hard compared to all of its other atunements and other professions I've seen,

Although I'm sure he's revered as a visionary I'm finding it hard to understand what's going on. I just want to know what playing the game is like. At least the PvE videos told us why they were fighting a dragon when they fought a dragon. They didn't just say "Here's some GW2 footage to Pink Floyd's The Wall".

Wow amazing. See, show this to people who have no clue about the game. This makes the game look much better than the clips we usually see. Most people are very clueless as to how different Guild Wars 2 is from a traditional MMORPG and thus usually have very poor PvP performance. This is great though!
