  • I'll bet some hogs would love those woods, too! :)

  • Pile up the leaves, burn them, throw in sweet potatoes :D

  • If you're going to be making a fairly large compost pile, it will generate quite an amount of heat as it composts down.. which, if you plan it properly, you can use over the winter to help heat your house. As Jean Pain proved youtube. com/watch?v=a4jrskze_UU (take out the space) :)

  • so you dont worry folks Garrett is fine...was happy 2 minutes later...

  • I can't wait for the compost pie video, lol!

  • It's funny to see different motivations for raking leaves. Here in The Netherlands the main motivation is to get rid of the leaves. While I seem to notice that your motivation is to stockpile your compostheap.

    I prefer your motivation :)

  • @Ertyui7 yes they make terrific compost when combined with green matter like grass and weeds......I am about to use my compost to put in the garden then will need to build it back up again..leaves and grass clippings will be a big part of that...I can collect a ton of leaves without to much trouble...right on my acres

  • @keithsnow Yeah we do exactly the same thing here, everytime we mow the lawn we just dump the grass on our compostheap, same for the leaves. But we haven't really done anything with it yet. And it has been years, so it's very concentrated compost, I think :P
