I looked this up after applying to work at a Verizon call center. My application was denied for unspecified reasons. I was angry, and after searching on Google I found the blog. After hearing this, I think I may not have been incompetent enough to do this job
There is a difference, .002 dollars is like...1 cent...And .002 cent is like..hardly any money. Lololololo, what if you spent 1 kilobyte in Canada, would you be forced to pay? If so, what would the change be?
I dont think she recognized the difference between cents and dollars. Conversions is entry level chemistry for God's sake. Hell, it's taught in the God damned 5th grade. Guess who isn't smarter than a fifth grader.

You know, they probably did realize the difference, and just lied so they could make up an excuse to try and get 100 times the amount of money from him.
No they can't. Those call centers don't allow them to use any search engines or even a web browser for anything other then Verizon related things. They can't do as much as you think they can.

Jesus, all that pretentious prick posturing with his "pre-teen girl" sighs and whimpers. The worst part of this is we all know he spent hours, HOURS writing out the math of his equation, then spent hours going over it again and again, then more hours editing his video.
Funny, a day+ spent while the Verizon employees spent probably 12 seconds of actual thought on the issue...who's the winner now?
Congrats, here's your $70 back , you're a true winner!
@yankslosewoohoo Wow, no. It took me all of 3 seconds to figure out what the problem was. If you have a $70 discrepancy, do you just let it go? I want to sell you some things...
lmfao obviously if i want 5x3 to equal potato its a difference of opinion therefore if you say its 15 i will disagree with you but manage to still be correct.
I feel this guy's pain. I was talking to an HP tech support guy who was literally telling me that it was impossible for my xw8400 to have 2 CPU's and that I was a liar...They shouldn't outsource to India
@nik722 Your system likely has a dual core CPU, not dual CPUs. If that's the case then he is technically correct, but he probably still didn't know what he was talking about.
@Bayshun The mother board on that system actually does have 2 cpu slots and it doesn't with only one cpu. I was mad at the tech guy because he was being rude to me without even knowing anything.
@Bayshun That mother board actually does have 2 cpu slots and it doesn't work with just one, which is what I was trying to clear up. The tech guy was being hella rude to me though

@whatabrother the fucked up part is, it took a fucking blog to get verizon to do what is right. all they care about is bad press and not customer service or even doing what is decent.
Today my math teacher showed this video to my Math Analysis class and we all thought it was hilarious! One of the students actually predicted at 1:50 that she would say no and when she said it everyone started laughing so hard.
go figure….the one time when the person who answers the phone isn't from india, you wish they were. they might not speak english well, but i'm sure they can handle 3rd grade math.
I'm 14 years old, pretty good in school, and I was amazed that they didn't understand the different. I was looking for other things, but it was simply and plainly just the difference between cents and dollars, they didn't understand.
unbelievable! what have we come to? Even the manager could not figure it out- I wonder how she manages the store without knowing how to use numbers...
@dragonlorder Are you speculating? Or did this actually happen to you? Because there IS such thing as 0.02 cents when dealing with a product in volume.
it's okay to get confused in the beginning and not catch onto the mistake quickly, but to keep arguing without seeing what is indeed wrong is BS! Good thing I got AT&T...though I might as well keep track of my bills to see if they're following Verizon's lack of math skills route XD
@xCirca1994x No, but the fact that 1/5 of you can't locate the US on a world map, and the hilarious state of your public school system, and your overwhelmingly stupid gov officials pretty much confirms these suspicions.
@crywolf30 Sorry, Bro. I'm not in that 1/5. I attend a Blue Ribbon school which means it's one of the best in the country. Sorry, I can't be used as an example /:
@xCirca1994x Another fantastic example of American intelligence. I never said you were one of those 1/5, did I? I only said you were part of that 5/5.
@crywolf30 Whoa. I was just stating that I could locate the country I live in on a map. I agree with you that some Americans are.. a bit below when it comes to IQ but I really can't help there. I can only speak for myself. Chill out.
This doesn't do the people of the USA any favours...the world thinks Americans are stupid. This video merely reaffirms this notion. There just happens to be a very small percentage of the population with near genius brains housed in a university called MIT
i wonder if they are just playing dumb so they don't have to take responsibility and reduce the charge hahahha. how can people be this stupid, it makes no sense
There are so many smart guys here who are really good at primary school mathematics!!! However, don't you guys see that the price of .002 cent/kilobytes is not reasonable and the Verizon guys just pretend they don't understand the math because otherwise they have to pay huge for all similar cases just because a simple typo.
@maplerstone If I were writing the laws, I would allow judges to set 'reasonable and prudent' interpretations of contract's terms. For example, if I agree to sell you a Rolex Submariner, and the quoted price for the watch in the contract is 'USD$5.000', the reasonable interpretation is five thousand dollars, even though it technically reads five dollars.
i actually do get what he's saying and it makes perfect sense. I don't get how not everyone understands..maybe this is why America is so low ranked in math
That was awesome!!! Who ever that guy was, I hope he fought to the teeth. There is a huge difference there. I'm taking math for Elementary teachers and we were discussing that last week! Kudos to who ever was making Verizon look like crazy people who can't do their math. Lol.
Verizon is fail. To anyone who doesn't get it let me explain. Say you have 1 dollar and 1 cent. Now multiply that by let's say 20 and you will have 20 dollars and 20 cents. So let's say you have for example .2 cents, ok that is 2 tenths of a cent. So .2 CENTS times 10 is 2 cents. Not 2 dollars. If you have .2 dollars, you have 20 cents. Its 4th grade math people.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This guy calling verizon is an idiot. In this case, he definitely understood that he'd have to use a great deal of internet to multiply by .002 and have the result be higher than a dollar. No one says .002 dollars, the amount is much lower than a dollar from the beginning so it should be called cents. The language is confusing, not the math, just pay your freakin bill cheapskate.
@gpb42 Are you retarded? They claimed he would be charged 0.002 cents per kilobyte yet charged him 0.002 dollars. 0.002 dollars = 0.2 cents, 100x more than they said they would charge. If you signed up for a long distance phone service that offered to charge 5 cents a minute then found out you were charged 5 dollars a minute, wouldn't you be pissed?
Although they are retarded, he could have explained it better. He should've explained one cent is like a pie and it takes 100 pies to make a super pie... So .002 super pies is like cutting up a pie into five pieces and then eating one of those pieces, but .002 pies is like cutting a pie into a thousands pieces and eating two of those slices... I don't know, something like that... it's actually pretty hard to explain.
Jesus...if you do .002 CENTS times his kilobyte usage, the number is still in CENTS. 71.79 CENTS. these tards don't realize that. Then that would equal .7179 DOLLARS
If you watch on he's trying to use variation between dollar and cents to add confusion for the audience and the Verizon customer support person.
$0.002 IS EQUAL TO .2 cents. In order for them to calculate it in a dollar amount they use .002. dollars, and the same as .2 cents. Really people...you're idiots.
I decided this needed to be put in a better way. There are 100 cents in a dollar, hence the reason for $0.00: so if you have .2 of a cent then it's .002 $.
@softwolf42 But their price wasn't .2 cents, it was .002 cents. If it was .2 cents then yeah you're right, but they quoted .002 cents and repeated it many times over. Listen next time.
it's called 'culture clash'. Canadians are half-decently educated. Americans don't HAVE that option. And you wonder how Americans fucked up their own economy!
I can tell you from my experience today that Andrea is still a supervisor and her customer service still sucks. And she still sucks at math. If i could get any other service I would cancel Verizon in a heart beat.
Do you recognize that there's a difference between one dollar and one cent? - Definitely.
Do you recognize there's a difference between half a dollar and half a cent? - Definitely.
Then, do you therefore recognize there's a difference between 0.002 dollars and 0.002 cents?
.
.
.
.
No.

To whom it may concern,
There is no need to try and explain what the video is about... You're not proving anything by knowing the difference between cents and dollars...
Thanks.

Jesus...if you do .002 CENTS times his kilobyte usage, the number is still in CENTS. 71.79 CENTS. these tards don't realize that. Then that would equal .7179 DOLLARS
Tigersfan829 1 year ago
It's .002 dollars and .2 cents.
There are 100 cents in a dollar, hence the reason for $0.00: so if you have .2 of a cent then it's .002 $.
softwolf42 1 year ago
@softwolf42 But their price wasn't .2 cents, it was .002 cents. If it was .2 cents then yeah you're right, but they quoted .002 cents and repeated it many times over. Listen next time.

it's called 'culture clash'. Canadians are half-decently educated. Americans don't HAVE that option. And you wonder how Americans fucked up their own economy!

I can tell you from my experience today that Andrea is still a supervisor and her customer service still sucks. And she still sucks at math. If i could get any other service I would cancel Verizon in a heart beat.
