Jonas Nunez has always been a stand up guy. He's an excellant trainer, a good father and family man, a good friend and a true Martial Artist. We go way back and I love this Punk like family. He has done more for Martial Arts than some people do for their own family. He's my friend, but I'm better looking.

15 years, times flys, First time I saw your father fight was Feb. 10th 1985 @ Cha Cha martinez Tournament in Martin Luther King Jr's High School. He was fighting Adriel Muniz(all should I say, ALL of the BX & NJ,LOL). Alot of miss point calling made Adriel the winner. Billy walk N the Stands where I was video taping and said "I want a copy of that Tape". .Doing that time i was betting my Gold watch against one of his friends on who would win. We were Friends ever since

Jarid, I've known your father from litlle league. Your father must have benn 11,12 years old. We then met up again several years later and trained in the same DOJO. He's a a great athlete and a good man.

Kevin Thompson pound for pound the best out there won Grand this day vs. Jerry Fontanez. that fight soon to be posted subscribe to Senseiemjay for future videos. Kevin continues into his late 40s to be better than most today nor will they ever be. Kevin and i fought between 30 or 40 times over a 20 yr period since we were kids. its debatable as to who won more times. We will just leave it as I won the first time...He won the last one. thanks Kevin for all the good memories

This fight is in Dobbs Ferry, NY around 86/87. The tournament promoter is Jose Guzman(who's known for having the last tournament of the year. All the Top New York/New Jersey fighter who had gripes,or trying to catch up on rating points came to this event. This was a great fight Billy Beason vs Jonas Nunez. During the fight after Beason and Nunez face punching exchange, you can see Kevin(Lil K.A)Thompson walk by and tap both fighter to calm it down a little. This is CLASSIC NEW YORK FIGHTING.

Dennis, ck all comments, i replied earlier sure i remember you guys. Mr. Arroyo and his sons, they all trained. I have the same picture of us...it was an Ed Brown tournament. I saw Lee a few years ago...thats another story. havent seen Bennett in 10/12 yrs. Living now in Fl.

Hi Artie, were you @ Bennett's also? I appreciate the nice comment. you are right those were the goood old days, the only days better were the bare knuckle days with shin guards only. My Uncle Mike Jackson posted this one. He has some other vintage footage and will be posting in the near future. subscribe to his listing and you will see other stuff. He has some other good footage. if anyone has any old stuff from days in NY please post also. talking about early 70s thru 80s.

I have an old home made movie that we made when we were young with Selwyn(AKA Lee), Paul, Dwayne, John A., my brother and myself that I'm trying to upload. I'm working on it. The format of the movie has to be changed. I still have a picture of you and I fighting against each other in New Canaan, CT. Great shot. I think it was Ed or Earl Banks tournament.

My brother Dennis and I were also at Bennett's. We also played ball with you on the Palms. Remember Bronxwood little league? I look forward to seeing more vintage footage. My brother is looking to put up a video we did with the Arroyo's and Smith brothers.

notice a brief appearance by the great champion Kevin Thompson aka Lil K.A.{wearing red Budweiser gi} as he steps in to lend support to both fighters after excessive contact is ruled on. Mike, post the grand championship match between Jerry Fontanez and Kevin Thompson. it was a good match worthy of posting. this was @ Jose Guzmans tournament Dobbs Ferry NY around 1985 or 86

ahhh i remember this. in blue is Shihan Jonas Nunez of NY/NJ. Shihan has gone on to produce many good fighters and kata champions. Jonas was an exceptional kata champion himself and a good full contact fighter. we only fought a few times and each time Jonas proved to be a challenging opponent. i hope all is well with him and his. thanks for posting
