Gene Tierney's preformance was excellent and Rex Harrison was brilliant.

    The ending was bittersweet.

  • I just seen this movie today on TCM! I normally don't like oldish films (because i'm only 17) but i liked the sound of the plot so i decided to watch it all...and i'm so glad i did. It's an AMAZING movie!!!!!

  • One of my absolute FAVORITE movies. I cry like a baby at the end every single time. :)

  • beautiful film . the ending as you said is heartbreaking . they surely dont films like this any more . it reminds me of the classic wuthering heights film of 1939 with lawrence olivier . the music in both films was also amazing ..

  • I am ever grateful that you posted this trailer! This movie is unbelievably romantic. It is a joy to see. I never tire of it. How I wish it would play more often on television. A new generation of people need to discover it.

  • I can't tell you how much i love this movie.Dad died at 44 and know mams waiting for him.Never thought she would be without him for so long! could cry.But you know this film makes it easier if you know what i mean.paul.x

  • I absolutely love, adore, in awe of, worship this wonderful film. I am 16 and been in love with these classical old films for a long time and i don't think many 16 year olds are fascinated by films and actresses in this era.

  • its my mam and dad could cry.x

  • Superb, haunting film. Beautiful Herrmann score. And the cast is faultless.

  • What a delightful film! I had such a crush on Rex Harrison after seeing him in this movie.

  • I love Gene Tierney!

  • I've seen this movie literally over 50 times. I was so young the first time I saw it, like 3. My mom introduced it to me. It's one of my all time favorite movies. In fact I just watched it last night.

  • I Loved this Movie, Great Fun, all the Actors Seem to be having.

  • yea it was a happy ending but it was a tear-jerker one! lol

  • OMG i absolutely love this movie i just saw it yesterday and it is so great! it made me cry in the end!

  • I watched it today and it was a great movie lol mainly because i enjoy old movies lol but it was great lol i though the ending was happy lol

  • is it just me, or does George Sanders look incredibly like Jeremy Brett in this film?

I guess this was a nice film--I liked Rex Harrison especially <3--but it strikes me as kind of weird. I never forgot that Rex Harrison was dead, you see.

  • One of the best fantasy/romantic movie ever. Gene Tierney is beautiful, the music is great and the dialogues are wonderful (as always in a Joseph Mankievicz movie).

  • Thanks for sharing this trailer for THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR. I've seen the film countless times in the past 30 years but never the trailer. Such an enchanting film..it never ages. Truly a cinematic gem.

  • i just watched this movie and i loved it

  • What I consider to be the best example of a gently-told tale. A beautiful movie.

  • bettielover; Thanks so much for taking me back to one of my most favorite movies of all time! Thanks for the memories & reminding me just what true love is about!

  • You're welcome! Thanks for your comment.... it's a pleasure for a romantic like me!

  • AkiraChan24; "they" (Capt Gregg & 'Lucia")

talked in the first half of the movie!

The short middle showed Lucy's giving up on her 'dream' guy & carrying on. It was the magnificent ending where Rex Harrison's character came back to claim her hand when Lucy/Lucia died (knowing her daughter also knew of his ghostly existense in years past)

  • What this eloquent movie showed was that LOVE is eternal!

  • I didn't like the movie's ending (but at the same time I did) but I liked the middle when thay talked.

  • gotta love george sanders lol georgous!

  • tbenewsophialoren; As gorgeous as George Sanders, he was a total cad! (A user of women)

Then, you have the *total* man, Rex Harrison' as Capt Gregg (who fellin love with Lucy) - as did Gene Tierney's "Lucy" w/ this irascible Sea Captain! GAWD! The ending was everything!

This woman who'd met this ghost many years ago & found her 'true love' - the end of the movie 2/b be reuinited with the ONE *true* love they both had for each other is what the entire movie was about!

  • i know in the film he is a cad, but i find him physically to die for !:)

  • Okay, I'll have to agree with you. He was freaking handsome. It's just that he seemed to play the cad or manipulator in most of his movies IMO. The 2 fave being "The Ghost & Mrs Muir" (The Cad) and "All About Eve" (The manipulator). But his looks & suave manor & cultured voice do count for alot!

  • To read !!! : G. Sanders Biographie

    " Memoirs of a Professional Cad " Unique !

  • A favorite movie! Gene Tierney was luminescent and Rex Harrison, oh wow. Mom used to make sure I watched some of the classic movies, and I think she got me up on a summer night to watch this one in particular. Lovely. Thanks for posting this.

  • gene tierney the first is the best old movie but can watch it over and over you no there was some talented actors in the old days

  • Gah i hate Miles Farely. I want to turn it off when he comes on.

This is one of the most bueatiffle love stories ever made.

I go to bed with this on every night.

  • Yes, Miles Farely is a cad. But..."bueatiffle"? Is that a joke or can't you really spell "beautiful"?

  • neat to find this here... one of my favorite movies!

  • WOnderful movie, wonderful TV series. I understand that Sean Connery owns the movie rights to do a remake. He has his own website and you can send him a message, if we all ask him to remake it, maybe it would do some good.

  • Why touch perfection!!!

  • it would be wonderful if they would follow the book more closely

  • Touche!

  • Sorry. My "Touche" was a mistake. I was responding to someone else. Please delete it.

  • Pure magic. A beautiful story with an unforgettable ending. The best ghost, love story ever made. Now there is a "ghost writer" for you. Does anyone know if this is the first of its kind? Did it pioneer the genre? Is every similar movie a spin-off of this one?

  • What similar movies can you name?

  • Any succeeding film in which a ghost or angel returns to this corporeal plane to assist a special human qualifies. Of course, they are all variations: "Ghost" is a murder mystery; in "Happy Ghost" a Hong Kong series, the spectre helps a girls soccer team win. Who knows how many "angel" movies have been cranked out? "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" has been available in Asia for a long time in one format or another. It is superb and utterly free from the bonds of time.

  • What greater movie in the same vein as "The Ghost & Mrs Muir"?? What about "Somewhere In Time"?? (with Jane Seymour & Chistopher Reeve!??)

  • Waitaminute, 'weikko70'! Are U kidding??

What about "Ghost"? With Patrick Swayze & Demi Moore? Not to mention another great musical background (The Righteous Brothers' hit,"Unchained Melody"_!

  • It's a good one, and thankfully containing none of the sickly sweet sentimentality, that bogs down many in its genre.

  • Great movie,Gene tierney is formidable

  • Thanks for posting this...great movie.

  • Arguably the most romantic movie ever made...in my opinion.

  • This is my all time favorite movie! I wanted Rex to Kiss Ms Tierney the entire movie! It was such a unique love story!

  • Gene Tierney is my favorite
