  • This idea for a contest is WONDERFUL! Where did you think of such a thing?

  • So, which uke so u recommend?

  • @jccjccjoanne There are lots of great ukes about. You need to do some research and decide what, size, solid wood or laminate, cost, etc. I work for Ohana so it is difficult for me to recommend some other brands. I gave this one away.

  • Hiya, I am getting a second uke. So, do you recommend this one KA-SSTU-C or KA-C?

  • @jccjccjoanne No, I can't recommend either of those. Sorry.

  • I'm late as usual, but this was one of the most creative contest I've ever seen! the idea is wonderfull as much as the playing!

  • Thanks Lorenzo. I am announcing the winner today, I think.

  • I've no more fingernail to bite!!

  • No more entries please. The contest is no closed.

  • How awesome of you Ken to offer this contest! I won't enter, seeing I'm lucky enough to already have some lovely ukes, but good luck to everyone who enters. What a great review as well! It is an amazing uke for the thinness of it. I tried a tenor one at my uke group on Monday night and was amazed at what a great sound it had.

  • Thanks for the positive comments, Michelle. Yes, the tenor one works even better, in my opinion.

  • So, what time is results coming out?

  • In a day or so.

  • i entered the other day but im deffinatly gonna lose :(

  • You seem very confident!!!

  • haha :) im not there is probably loads of people in it .

    is the contest over today?

  • Midnight tonight.

  • ok .

its too late anyways but did we have to give you the names of the songs or country names

  • Don't panic. You gave the countries.

  • pheww

  • Hello Ken. Good morning. I've just sent my entry to you, and my reasons too.

  • Thanks.

  • Ken, I've got one more before I send my entry.... This is so tough.

  • Can't help you, Dylan.

  • Ottimo lavoro Ken!! This ukelele is very small. And your idea is really cool. :-)

    Paolo

  • Thanks Paolo. I would never use it. It is better that someone else has it.

  • brilliant idea Ken

    excellent review

  • Why not enter?

  • I have to pass... I recognize only 3 of the 5 tunes.

  • Why not ask a few people? You still have 5 days.

  • It's a cute uke... but I have to listen again to try to figure out the countries... :-) Awesome competition, Ken!

  • is it just 'associated' with the country, or does it have to have a country in the title of the song?

  • The country or nationality is in the title or in the line that I play.

  • Fireplace background is a nice touch, Ken.

Thanks for putting on the contest, but I'm just waiting for someone to misunderstand your directions and post their answers on YouTube.

  • Let's hope not.

  • I'm mainly distracted by that lovely fireplace, I miss having an open fire.

Not got a clue on the tunes, so I'm out of the context XD

  • I love the fireplace too. It's 19th century. Thanks for listening.

  • Great contest, Ken, but I'm gonna have to pass! Just can't get 3 and 5. Nevermind.

  • I'll trade you 5 for 2 haha

  • superb as always (even with a messed up thumb!) Great contest and review!

  • Thank you.

  • Great competition and video, Ken. Cannot get the last tune, though. Ah, well. Someone very deserving will win and be very happy, I'm sure.

  • It is badly played, Tony, due to the fact that my thumb isn't working.

Why not ask someone. Someone who doesn't know as many songs as you might get it straight away.

  • Excellent as always Ken. Thanks for the video. It is a pleasure enjoying your vids.

  • Thanks very much.

  • What a wonderful medley, Ken. I'm with seeso. It'd be so great hanging out, drinking tea and jam at your pad :-)

  • Thanks Sebi. Our house is quite old. About 1690.

  • I so want to hang out at your pad and drink tea and jam, Ken.

  • Haha. Yes, we really love a real fire and drink drink and eat cream scones with raspberry jam...

  • It's a fairly standard soprano uke really, Jonathan. Bruko have been making high-quality thin-bodied ukes for years.

  • i'd love to join the contest but there's no way i can name the 5 country tunes. i'm only 16

  • Perhaps some of the older members of your family will know.

  • Very cool contest, Ken. Thanks for the chance to win this great little uke.

    Merry Christmas.

  • Thanks very much Jeanne and Ron.

  • That's a very cute stuff. I want it....

By the way. I can't playing ukulele for the time being too.

    Because I sprained finger.... Ouch!

  • Sorry to hear about that.

  • This is so tough... but I want the uke.

  • Nothing is worth having unless it is tough to get, Dylan.

  • I can make out 3 tunes definitely... I've still got a week to figure out the other two. Yes, you're right. This is worth all the hard work and thinking.

  • You are right! Some are hard. I have to travel more to learn the music. Great concept!

  • Yes, some are hard. But thanks.

  • Great creative contest and nice little uke Ken! Unfortunately I only know 3 of the five, but fortunately I have already got a beatiful uke from you so I will be ok anyway! Bet you'll have enough right answers anyway. Good luck with the contest.

  • Thanks R. Yes, some people will get them all right.

  • Wonderful generosity. Best of luck to all who enter :)

  • Thank you Shane.

  • Nice looking uke, Ken.

    Thanks for the review.

    Very generous competition.

I'm up to one country already!

    Shas

  • Thanks Shas.

  • Nice of you to offer this competition to encourage uke players Ken

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • oh its a shame i don't know all of the answers because i would really like that uke. =) haha

  • Why not get someone to help you?

  • great review and generous contest! you Ken are as they say "da man", as it were.

  • Thanks Russ. The entries are rolling in already.

  • Hi Ken, don't forget to enter you say! Well, I would if I knew the answers! :-) Erm, is it OK if I cheat and ask my Mum? lol. Great review, as always. It's really nice and generous of you to give the uke away! I love your fireplace, nice to see you out of the attic or wherever it is you're kept :-) I hope your thumb heals up quickly, you didn't you do it slicing your bread did you?! I'm going to look at the magazine thing in a minute, if must be good if you like it :-) X

  • You are allowed to ask your mum, Ruth. Yes, it is the attic where they keep me.

I injured my thumb slicing onions. White onions became red onions quite quickly.

  • I agree with you on the tuners- I don't like them esthetically, ears sticking out, but they do allow the uke to keep a thin profile for packing. Thanks for hosting the contest.

  • The thin profile is certainly important, I agree.

  • Cool contest! Very nice of you Ken.

  • Thanks Deach.

  • I have sent off my answers and I put in subject

    "Kala competition answers"

Knowing my luck those combination of words will trigger some SPAM robot and my email will dissappear over the blue event horizon into a black hole:-)

  • Don't worry, your entry is safe and sound.

  • I know all the answers, but I won't enter, 'cause that would mean I'd have 13, and I'm superstitious!

  • Very wise, Ian.

  • Very nice of you to do this, Ken. Good luck to everyone!

  • Thanks Alan.

  • Oh so cool! I am entering! Thank you for your generosity!

  • Best wishes in the competition.
