A fast way to calculate the average is to finish the leg and count the throws and divide the amount of throws with 501, for example a nine darter, in a nine darter, there are 3 throws, 180, 180, 141, or 180, 177, 144. Since there are three throws, 3 divided by 501 is 167. So an average of a nine darter is 167

ok, so i don't really understand the rules of darts. Why don't they go for the bullseye every time?

Simple: you start with 501 points. The goal is to get to 0. The "bull" is 50 points. The green outer "bull" is 25. The inner ring gives 3 times the score of the slice. The outer ring gives it double. The other spaces (black and white) are single scores. Therefore the triple 20 (the one they aim the most) is the highest score you can make with a single dart. The "leg" ends as you reach 0, by hitting a double point dart (outer ring). The lowest end can be made at 2 (double 1) the highest at 170.;)

And also: if when finishing a leg you hit more points than you need (ex: finishing 36 is double 18...if you get double 20, you "overscored". So you start the next turn again from 36...). The best thing a player can do in a leg is to finish it with 9 darts...try looking for "9 darts finish" on youtube...bye ;)

Many(many) years ago before the triple ring (the one they aim for in the 20 wedge) the bull was worth the most, but after the triple ring was added the triple 20 is worth most. They even had boards with quad ring but they never caught on or made to pro levels, just a novelty.
