2001 Chevrolet Impala Test Drive

So I have a few questions about the Impala's if anyone can answer. How many miles can I get out of one? I know that crown vic have been known to go past 500k. Most chevy's ive seen have had issues with fuel pumps and head gaskets, can I expect that with an Impala?

@Outdoorsforum Depends what motor it has and which generation it is, this car a 2001 impala ls has the legendary 3800 series 2 I've heard they can get to 300k if properly taken care of. I've also heard of these motors described as bulletproof, it was one of gm's best engines. If you get the base from this generation it has a 3400 in it, which I can't speak for, heard its not as good as the 3800. If you get one from this era check the intake manifold gaskets.

This one must be in great condition, after a couple years this generation of Impalas get very loud very easily. Not too reliable either, but they're a good car when you're driving it in prime condition.

Lol exact same car as mine except i added a few things volo chip, parel boots, cut off resinator split pipes, and added all hid's. Thats the type of car you get shitty milage with tho, cuz you cant be light on the gas cuz its a heavy car soo you have to push the throttle a little more but you like the power so much you find yourself doing 75 in a 45 lol!!!

@rplutchak1 You probably had the 3.4 V6 in your's. Those sucked! The 3.8 will run forever. I have an '09 Impala with the 3.9 which replaced the 3.8. Great cars if you have the right engine!

I got one of these too really nice cars, 200 hp (says the manual) i got mine chipped and dynod and it came out at 247 so more than enuff power for a 4 door sedan from 2001.

The SS trim in that bodystyle Impala did not come out till 04, so that car you were driving was the top of the line Impala for 2001. Those 3.8's can really move. Nice choice for lunch by the way!!!

@groh1234 Your not kidding, had to replace a wheel bearing on mine which is a 2002, not even 85000 miles yet, pressure control solenoid in the transmission likes to go as well. Funny we got it after my great uncle passed it was his car, I know he babied it. I love the car as well just not the repairs.

Rolling out the tunes, lol. Yeah i love my '04 - very similar to this one with leather and a sunroof. However, unlike yours mine doesn't have OnStar or audio controls because it was once a rental but regardless still a nice car. Love the Impala.

i had a 05 impala .. great car but they suck on side impact and traction control is the dumbest thing ever... lets lock up the tires that are spinning... when its the font tires.. in snow/ice not only do you lose traction .. but you also cant steer. see for those of you that dont know, traction control locks up any drive tire that starts spinning wihout traction, on these cars its the front tires, so you then cant steer either just along for the ride.

Dude, cruise till you get to right at 30 mph then floor it, it downshift to first gear, n sends out a rush almost squeeling the tires. I got an 00 LS, n they got plenty of needed power, the SS is definitely noticeable better though.
