I was so happy for Kate when she won Best Actress finally for The Reader. But... looking back, I can't help but feel like she totally deserved the win for Titanic too.

I know she was young. I know her character was young. But, Rose DeWitt Bukater is Kate's most iconic role. It will be for some time. And, she totally transformed in my opinion into this teenage sweetheart in 1912 IMO.

I love it when actors and sctresses actually get a chance to talk properly about their characters in that much depth. I think those silly interviews like craig ferguson and letterman are funny and a lot of fun aswell, but I think that when you see an actor/actress talking about their craft in depth, it amazes me how many new things you learn.

When she plays this hard-core, dyed-in-the-wool, characteristic Southern Redneck complete with this excellent drawl (where there is no trace of her regular Brit accent!) & other Redneck attributes then she gets my vote as the finest & most versatile actress born post 1965 (my generation!). I mean she's GREAT, no question to it, yet Kate really needs to further expand her acting range & further refine her outstanding skills by widening her limitless prospects. She needs to play this redneck!!!

The first film I ever saw with her in it was Titanic, and I was certain she was American. The second film I saw her in was Finding Neverland, and I thought what a great English accent she does. That's what you call irony!
