  • Screw Vai and screw Satriani.

  • Why can't I find this tune in iTunes to purchase? I really would like to purchase this

  • Sounding sweet to the ears Brian. That guitar has great action/response/sound.

I say add vocals. I heard one of Brian's songs I wished had vocals. You can even put them ever here/there or backing vocals. But the sound of that guitar is impressive. Of course with Brian being The Guitar Man.

  • As someone who scours Youtube for great and inspiring guitarists, old and new, I can say with some real knowledge that Brian is the best young rock guitarist I have seen bar none. I think he has the potential to be his generation's Jimmy, Eddie or Slash. If I may be so bold as to offer some advice, to get there it is going to take the help of a frontman who is on his level.

  • @lagunaalbums

Thanks for the good words Laguna Albums.... and I agree with you about the frontman...

perhaps someone should alert the media however about the other ;)

  • @sidewindermusic Instrumentals like this are so compelling that maybe vocals aren't even needed. I played this on my iPhone over some drinks with friends fully expecting them to talk over it. Instead they whateched the entire 3.5 minutes intently and my most ADD friend who talks over EVERYTHING says, "I wish he was here playing live right now."

  • what tasty tone!!

  • now THIS is how to make a les paul sing!!!

  • Brian...your progressions are unreal. So cool man.

  • just about 1.20 - that's about the best sounding d5 i've ever heard...

  • material like this is the reason i keep playing guitar, so one day i can jam out little chunks of glory just like this one

  • man brian...i wish you believed in tabs....

but alas...i have to train my ear.

    darn you sensei

  • @supermans4l

Don't get me wrong... I believe in anything that improves your musicianship - Tabs can be very useful especially when trying to sort fingering or positional references on the fretboard :)

    Keep on pickin'

  • Wow!!! Probs best les paul tone I have ever heard! nice!

  • Wow! Great stuff...

  • like it

  • Please, Please, Please do a lesson on this or tab it out. I love this tune and realize the talent of the player is what makes the difference... but I'd love to take a shot at it. I've watched this a couple hundred times. :-)

  • Do you use the JTM45 on stage? I've thought about buying one several times, but I'm not sure it will be loud enough.

  • @murfdog19 sometimes just depends on the room.. most often it's a 1976 Marshall JMP 50 watt

  • Incredible. I can't find any reference to this song anywhere else, is it on any of your albums?

  • @jbrookeiv not yet on a release but is avail on my website for free download ;)

  • That was amazing dude!

  • have always watched this video, never gets old. Love the tremolo, and the sustain of the creamtone with those pickups. just a work of art

  • amazinggg!

  • dude how much does a les paul 59 VOS cost now??

  • $5999

  • Do these guitars range in sound since they are hand made?

    I have tried a '58 but i wasn't too crazy..

  • @Alu122112211221 yah man. some woods sound darker than others. You'll know when you find "The Les Paul". I have 2, a 59 reissue with Sheptone Brian Kahanek Pickups, with the pickguard signed by Brian too. but i also have a 1960 reissue with a slimmer neck, it looks just like the one Brian is playing now, my 60 is in the Faded Tobacco Sunburst, and it has Seymour Duncan Antiquities. I love my 60 more than anything, the 59 plays a little stiffer for some reason. You'll find the ONE.

    -KP

  • Nice

  • what does it mean if the guitar is "VOS"?

  • Vintage Original Stock

  • Vintage Original Spec. No glossy top, rusted hardware.

  • KICK ASS!!!

Stevie Ray once said that all guitar players naturally gravitate to a certain chord. SRV's was E (Eb). Mine is D. I never get tired of this tune. Great job, Brian!

  • @flatothedash

    Cheers back at ya

  • Thats some crazy sustain!

  • ok, just got the 60 back. WOW, my mentor Billy Russell did the most amazing setup: fret dress, intonation, pickup height/pole pieces, action, and he filed the whole nut so the string doesnt burry in it, the most amazing setup ive ever seen.

  • got any tips man. i know some basic stuff. but how do i do a good setup. i did an acoustic setup a coulple of years ago. its was my black takamine. it turned out AMAZING on complete accident haha. i messed with the file for a while on the nut till it stopped buzzing. i need to do a set up on my doves in flight though. i have to lower the action by filing the saddle down. P.S. what did you major in college. like music? I want to do something with music and I just need an Idea

  • Stop being a homo

  • im actually not liking my creamtone as much as i used to. and i can tell you exactly why. im using my 59 with the stock burstbuckers. i dont have the 60 with the antiquities right now. which is really bumming me out haha. getting it back from setup and frets on saturday. the tone is better with GOOD Pafs haha. gibsons are to brittle, dont like them at all, ick!!!! P.S. do you do your own setups? wierd question i know, but hey. haha

  • Hi Kris,

I do all my own work minus Refrets and Nuts ;-)

    Keep on pickin'!

  • i´m thinkin of buyin a cream tone myself that sounds really good great playing brian

  • thats it man !

  • BK has an amazing sound and technique. Really enjoy your songs.

  • Cheers!

  • Hey Brian. When I heard Gemini, my first thought was: "Why isn't this man playing G3 with Satriani and Vai?".

Your guitar playing is AMAZING, and you are going to get VERY far,

  • Muchas Gracias Senior!

  • Are those uncovered zebra Burstbuckers? They sound a little more mellow and smooth than the ones in my mid-high end Epi (not that it's anything to compare with a VOS '59, and maybe that's the difference.)

  • Sweet Axe and brillant playing!

  • Cheers and thanks!

  • Hey Brian. Teleplayer from TGP here. Lovely playing; great tone and cool vibe to Deliverance.

  • Muchas Gracias Teleplayer!

  • hoping you could help me out here Brian. I'm having trouble finding that creamtone pedal. where do i go?

  • Hi Kris..

Check my website for the link ;-)

    My fav OD for sure

  • just ordered my cream tone with the quick shipping: $250. cant wait, hope its here before saturday night, the gig. i want to play it there for the first time. this is my first full gig. ive been recently sitting in with a band. so this is exciting.

  • oh man, i got the creamtone for 120 haa

  • wonderful playing and tone in this one!! - top stuff

  • Cheers John!

    thanks

  • i really like this. your playing really reaches out to people watching, its just great. i listened to the Cd you gave me, probably one of the best cd's i have heard in a long time. thanks alot. ive been searching for something new to listen to, and well, I've found it. this music is just the best overall music, its good to listen to at any time. I've got to tell you, every time i plug in my les paul and crank the amp up, i tune down the E to D and i practice this kind of stuff

    Kris

  • Right on Kris.. wonderful to make an impact on a young player like yourself!

  • best guitar in the world

  • great!!, great technique and great feeling and tone

  • ur a monster!

  • I just played one of these at GC.... it played like a dream

  • Awesome! Could you tell me the settings used on the Creamtone? Thanks!

  • Oh man... been too long...

Maybe.. vol and tone around noon and drive at 40 percent.. most of the saturation is coming from the power section of the amp..

  • wow!!! this sound is very great!!

    Is emotional song!!

  • Simply AWESOME. What pickups did you prefer prior to the Sheptones? Thanks.

  • Hi and Thanks...I was using Dimarzio Virtual PAF and the Stock Gibson Burstbuckers..

  • Great playing, nice vibe, awesome tone, and great taste in amps! I use a BB reissue, too, so I am biased. (no pun intended)

  • ;-) Thanks!

  • fyi

    you're a beast

  • Ha! thanks but only when the moon is full ;-)

  • wow!

  • is there a big difference between the Les Paul VOS 1958 and 1959 reissues?

  • typically the 58reissues have more of a baseball bat neck. People perfer the 59reissue because 59 was the supposed golden year of the 'golden' age (57-60 les pauls). They do play nice and are a bit more comfortable to most people because of the neck but, they're also $5k brand new. Personally, I like the 60reissues.

  • ive got a 1960 reissue with a killer tobacco flame top. i use seymour antiquity hunbuckers. i love the 59's. they are the best, but i love this 60 so much, i cant help it

  • For me the 59 has the neck profile I prefer.. The 58 and 57's can be very chunky. besides I am a sucker for a flame top ;-)

Each Custom Shop Lester from the fine folks at the Gibson Custom Shop has a hand shaped neck profile.. so they will vary from guitar to guitar. to me this just adds to the mystique of finding the magic Les Paul..

The Tobacco R9 I am playing in this vid is for me "Magic".. that's how she got her name

    BK

  • Agreed. I've play R9s that felt really nice. I have a plaintop R0 that has the magic. The neck is not as thin as some that I've played but, the shoulders are a little fatter than usual so it feels like a shaved 59 neck. However, it seems like the the string spacing on the R9s is a little wider thus I perfer the R0s. I do have a set of your Shep BK sigs in the order queue though!

  • the only thing in likes that we do not share are the dunlops haha. theyre too big and stick off really far from the body. i prefer the schallers.

  • i was going to get a 57 gold top. i LOVE the neck. but i wanted a flame. the only one i liked was the 60. the next les paul im gonna get is the 1958 Washed Cherry VOS

  • It's midnight and I wanted to relax and listen to something just before I go to sleep. As rockin' out as this is,it has a very soothing side to it. What ever I listen to late in the evening tends to run thru my mind while I sleep-this is why I choose your video-it's perfect.

  • Lefty Strat - thanks for the good vibes!

  • what kind and gauge strings do you use

  • Hi Kristoff..

    Ernie ball 10-46

  • where are you getting your older dunlop strap buttons. i like those better than the new style

  • Thanks all got lots more Lester goodness coming soon!

  • Amazing sound & playing!Thanks!

  • beautiful guitar and playing. that lp reminds me of duane allman's darkburst.

  • What pickups were you using!

  • Hi Brian! That was some of the most impressive and smooth playing I have ever seen! Would you perhaps be able to do a video lesson on the intricate use of dynamics in your playing? There aren't many videos about dynamics on YouTube, and it would be a huge help to enhance the feeling/soulfulness in my guitar playing. Thanks!

    -Cody

  • Cheers Cody

    Thanks for the kind words..

  • I've watched many, many great guitarist play music on youtube for over a year now,and I'd have to say this is one the the best I've listened to,and may just be my very favorite. Absolutely fabalous.

  • Thanks Kindly Lefty Strat!

  • amazing :)

    what scale is he using?

  • This sounds superb!

I have a JTM45 clone and a Gibson R0 with Sheptones. Can't get much better than that.

  • In a world that has Gibson LP Standards and Marshall JTM's, well, you just know God has to be a guitar player.

  • Indeed.

  • Hi , really amazing playing. you like just the same tone as i do. check out my video if you have the time to, i use a marshall jtm 45 and a vintage gibson sg.

    Love and peace

  • finally a player who plays chords and doesnt show off just fancy lead

  • Thanks for the comments all!

and In regards to Amp Mods... there is a Mercury Magnetics Tranny in this JTM..

  • Have ya got a few more hours of this stuff to listen to,cause it's great!

  • Check out his records...

Suicide King and Real Life :-)

  • Thanks. I went to his site and listened to the sound bites that were on there, and honestly it didn't sound like the same guy.I could listen to this all day,but I'm pretty leary of buying the cd's if they don't sound like this. Tell me,am I wrong?

  • All I can say is that BK has great songs with great guitar playing.. His lyrics are as good as his licks! - how many musicians can say that!

  • Are there any mods done to this amp?

  • dude... you're amazing, you never disappoint!

  • Awsome guitar. Nice song. YOU ROCK BK!!

  • :-)
