  • I've love this band but most of my friends don't digg it, gotta listen to them alone on my headphones

The constant god theme/reference pushes me away little by little. Can anyone explain if these guys are religious or did they grow up around psycho Christians or something?

  • @smokindnd Well they are from Texas (as far as growing up around psycho christians go) XD but I find all the god themes and references to be sarcastic, I feel bad for you though I've played these guys for my friends and at least 75% of them turned into as big of fans as I am, we'll all blast it on road trips or at get togethers.

  • creepy but beautiful

  • @TotalRift on the far right is John Congleton. He wrote most if not all of TPC's discography and plays the guitar. TPC is no longer making music or touring as far as I know John's focused on his new project The Nighty Night.

  • But the dissonant solo is the best part of the song, me breda

  • If it wasn't for the off-tune (annoying, NOT spine curdling) guitar solo at 2:00 I would have been in love with this song. Though I can get past that 15 second or so deal. Otherwise the odd sounds and lyrics blend into an epiphany of horrific wonderful. I love this song and I love the fact that it goes so edgy simply to make a point.

It actually reminds me of a different piece of art way back when were someone made a tunnel, and said that he'd rape anyone who went through the tunnel. Why? Art.

  • More bands need to be this brilliant, and grow the balls to make this kind of music. All while including piano, violin, and a pair of fuckin scissors and STILL not be bitch music.

  • Me gusta.

  • not sure if i like this or not...

  • this is basically the only song i really like by tpc, aand dont get me wrong i really enjoy this song and a few others, but for the most part its frankly not good. like said the spider to the fly, the keyboard is terrilbe completely of beat i wouldnt even really call it a beat, although some of you will argue "thats the point, and thats the style they were going for to be artistic" but no. its just not good. and his whiney voice cracks sometimes. and by all means im no troll. but shit, hipsters

  • @mrkinghooligan

The piano isn't off-beat. In fact, the whole beat is based around the piano.

  • @mrkinghooligan It's a very cohesive beat.

  • @mrkinghooligan I respect your opinion, but if they were 'just not good' I'd think that instead of coherent, timed beats and strums, they'd just be playing random notes.

How off-tune and chaotic (and frankly unnerving) their songs are might not be everyones thing, and that's totally cool, but it just seems way too planned out to just be a lack of talent. But that's just my opinion.

  • they got some good songs / good parts in their songs, but the rest is just whiney poseur shit for DEEP hipsters

perfect example how to fuck up a rather good concept

  • Comment removed

  • @Celendiel How the fuck are they "poseurs"? Whiny I could sort of see, though I disagree entirely, but it's pretty fucking stupid to call the Paper Chase poseurs when John Congleton started the band as an outlet for his frequent panic attacks. If they're poseurs, then I'd like to see who you consider "authentic". Are they poseurs because they never actually killed anyone?

  • @vaguelyhumanoid Derp nice double post, hipster.

  • @TyParkours

That was an accident. Apparently, being a hipster and accidentally double-posting invalidate one's arguments. Huh.

  • Best and sweetest song about rape ever <3 The paper chase are fucking amazing.

  • @SilentHillHeather Its about more than just rape. Its about the inevitable demise of humanity, at its very own hand.

  • @ZacksEnder Wow, thank you for the correction. I feel like a dumbass now, lol. Also, they really should've made a video to this song.

  • @SilentHillHeather

I'd like to make a video for this song myself, but I don't really know what to do for it.

  • @vaguelyhumanoid Anything chaotic, disturbing or thats centered around hysteria. But I guess everyone's definition of those things can be very different. But yeah, if you make a video for this song, I would definitely love to see it. <3

  • a song of stalking, rape, and murder.

    YET IT IS NOT METAL.

WHAT THE FUCK, WORLD? I COULD JUST RAPE A BITCH.

  • So I'm reading the comments, and I saw one person said they have to listen to the song over and over again. Then the video restarted itself o_o

  • only one i really like from these guys, the rest is prrettyyy much garbo =\

  • Lyrically this is one of the best songs i have ever heard.

  • Live show was super impressive.

  • @2007bmpgti

Damn... I live in Seattle and I couldn't go.

    Can you post it?

  • This is one of the best songs of one of my favorite albums ever.

  • I love The Paper Chase. They get it. I don't know about you, but I'm at peace, I know what it is that I must do; come Hell or High-water this SICK world will know I was here! I loves them :3

  • @artsygirloh7

...You realize the lyrics describe a guy raping someone, right?

  • @thoadthetoad

That's part of the lyrics, but I don't think that's what the song is about.

I think the song is about fear and control, rape was just a good way to illustrate the subject matter.

  • @vaguelyhumanoid You're absolutely right. The "rape" part isn't even absolutely about rape - it could just as easily be about S&M -- it'd still be in keeping with the themes of control and domination, then. Saying "This song is about rape!" is pretty reductive, if you ask me.

  • u know but u dont care : |

  • So excited to see them March 31st in Seattle. Have been dying to see these guys. Been a fan for a long time.

  • This song is so catchy... and the lyrics are so insane just adds to the temptation to listen over and over...

  • these guys are amazing!!!

  • john congleton is a GENIUS. so fucking good.

  • I love the pAper chAse

  • we know were you sleep

  • so now you will drop on all fours, get down and show me what your good for

you already knew what your in for

  • i dont know about you

  • I imagine this kind of music is similar to what would happen if everyone in Ludo went violently insane and did LSD...

These guys are so interesting. <3

  • @aGasmaskProcession lmfao. agreed

  • @aGasmaskProcession

That is literally the EXACT same thing I thought. XD I totally tripped out when I read your comment.

  • @aGasmaskProcession hahaha. amazingly accurate, actually. two of my favorite bands.

  • @aGasmaskProcession

I wanna punch you for saying that they're interesting. They use good sounds and they know hwo to make a creepy ambiance with similarly conflicting and antagonizing lyrics. But that does NOT mean that they automatically become complicated interesting people. Misanthropes are easy to know. I know this for a fact because I have been and still AM a misanthrope.

Hate is all they and I are. The burning of the world is a romantic pleasure of sadistic pleasure. Nothing more.

  • @thoadthetoad cool story bro

  • @thoadthetoad You want to punch me for taking interest in something? Not to be down on your extremely oversimplified views, but if you take a look into John Congleton or any of the members of this band, or ever read what they said about it, you'd see that Congleton is not at all a misanthrope. Try having a conversation with the guy. Looking at the pictures. Hearing him talk. I certainly hope you didn't make that post in seriousness.

  • get down, show me what you're good for :)

  • i love this band

  • the first time i hered this song i wuz like wat the hell? but now this is my new favorite band/song

  • John is such a genius...

  • and this song is creepy b/c have you seen the damn title... thats just creepy in its own way. they are still soo awesome.

  • When I first heard it, I just thought it was morbid. I liked it, but it was plain creepy. Now, though, I feel the song and its meanings.

  • @KatanaKiroko

    I don't, can you explain a bit?

  • This is the best wrist-slitting band ever. The pAper cHase makes the shit "linkin park" and "korn" sing about look like pillow talk.

  • @DraconianLover

    I wouldn't say they're a... wrist-slitting band. I'd say they're more of a holy-shit-what-the-hell-I'm-being-raped-by-the-night-itself band.

  • @DraconianLover the best wrist slitting band ever? grow some balls and deal with life.

  • @DraconianLover You're so cool. I'm sure the chicks just LOVE you and how deep you are. Cut deeper. Alot deeper.

  • damn this band is good

  • This song puts me in the best mood(:

  • lol idk why it's kinda creepy
