  • ME!!! :))))

  • there is no greater comment (not even by MacGowan) than 'with the glasses flying and Billy's crying, sure Paddy was going to town.'

  • @radgeworks Nearly sure it's "glasses flyin' and biddies crying"

  • Ceud failte mile for the good quality version!

  • @griffo1968 that they are and god help those who are lazy around the irish

  • same here !!!!

  • Who is still listening to this master piece in 2011???

  • @paul93lad i am,its still relevant to some people.long live the fusiliers

  • My Dad lived this song in London through the late 1930's till he was drafted into the British Army in 1944. He was all it implies and more. A Monaghan man and ferociously proud. It's great to hear it on the web. Thanks for posting it.

  • @MrFlathatter did ur da stay long in the army it weird he got drafted the last year of the war, just asking mate...??

  • @buzzindub I checked and he was actually involved in the landings at Salerno, Italy, which took place in Sept.1943. So he must have been drafted before that, possibly even 1942. I don't even remember where I got the idea it was 1944.He was in Italy until the end and then did Occupation Duty in Austria. Unfortunately for me my Dad was one of those guys who said almost nothing about his war service. He just wanted to forget it.I know very little.

  • @MrFlathatter cheers mate thnx for replying...

  • What a fine ol' writer Dominic Behan was. One of my all time favourite Dubliners songs.

  • I worked on the lump

  • jesus im homesick

  • didn't stop just changed from IRISH to other nationalities

  • Are you on crack, this song being racist? more like the irish have been exposed to racism for the last 800 years.

  • good on ya paddy ;)

  • LOVE FROM POLE :)

  • @K3NH me father was apole work ed with many apaddy . he liked them so much he marriad one. his saying was bollox to you .if cant work f off and many a brit did wanted top money . but did not how to graft . now here iam in aussy earning a very good crack and the brits still winge and moan . the w ers.

  • @Jodeskis so true me dad was is 90 last week he said the brits were offered wekends and turned them down but when they started offering only the irish the brits whinged again!!!

  • I'm working with several Irish who have come to England to earn a living due to the hard times in Ireland, it's a pleasure to work with people who understand the "craic" as opposed to Eastern Europeans and Indians. There is more that unites us than divides us. Great song by a great band.

  • @DerMitten

did you listen to the song? they worked along side slavs like polish. quit being racist.

  • good on ya mate

  • Good on you mate, well said, we may have a lot of differences but by christ we both know how to have the craic

  • @DerMitten Rubbish. The English and the Irish enjoy working with everyone, and everyone likes working with us. Ireland has a diaspora spread around all four corners of the globe. And England has always been a migrant nation. So through experience we're familiar and friendly with a variety of cultures and ethnicities. Your pseudo-xenophobic rant, goes against this reality. Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales' biggest collective export is friendship solidarity, despite muppets like you.

  • What has "up the 'ra" got to do with this song? Typical Armchair republician who haven't any insight into the the meaning of this song. Ronnie would be disgusted

  • @TheTranceCartel ah, you read too much into my name. thank you for making me listen to death of the bear. very interesting song.
