I'm not surprised, The wind blowing through small openings, hitting areas just right and causing harmonics all over the building, with the odd debris crash would make for scary silent hill sounds.
Have family that was in the path of Irene, and was trying to tell them what they might hear during a hurricane (I've been through several as a life-long resident of Houston, TX). I ended up searching YouTube for something and found this vid. This is EXACTLY what I heard during Ike. ALL NIGHT LONG. I can handle hearing stuff hit the outside walls and roof of the house. But that noise......that wail. Un-freaking-bearable. Creepiest thing I've EVER heard.
@klcblink1969 I live in San Antonio, we don't get the hurricane itself, but I was staying with a friend in Galveston when Ike had hit. The damage wasn't what horrified me, it was this wind.
You mean to tell me that the whistling sounds and shot are the hurricane? I'm in NY and Irene supposedly hits tomorrow but idk if it will sound like this where I live
I see a lot of comments from those in the path of Hurricane Irene. I was searching out sounds of hurricanes, to show a friend what to expect, up in NYC. And I'm sad to say that this is exactly what Andrew, Katrina and other hurricanes I experienced, sounded like.
Once you've heard the train whistle of death (as I call it), you'll never forget it.
its the wind :P it is cutting through the air pockets in the air and it is moving so fast through it that it makes a hi pitch noise, it makes different noises also, this one is just plane wierd, never heard it but i am sure its just the wind :)
I remember Ike; didnt sleep at all. Plus when I was little; during hurricane Alicia n 1983 we were watchn exorcist at nite & then the door just flew & r dad was standn n front of the door & we screamed; but the winds were crazy.
@Jora3736 wow, I totally remember "The Exorcist" playing on TV that night -- CBS Movie of the Week. It's not like nowadays when a storm threatens they have round-the-clock coverage for 48 hours even before landfall. During Alicia we lost power around 1a.m. - 2 a.m. and the sound of the wind all night was awesome -- in a scary way. ;) There were flashes of light outside as transformers were blown and our tire swing was whipping in the wind.
I live in San Antonio TX, but I was visiting my friend at the time ike happened. Only her small tree she had planted was leaned over halfway, but the sound effects through the night scared me shitless. Tornados happen around me and are roaring storms but Hurricanes have a smooth howling sound that comes in through the cracks of the house, blowing chilled air that shivers up your spine
I wonder if this wasn't part sound effect. If not this is pretty good eerie footage. I live close to where Ike hit in Corpus Christi, Texas. In fact Ike was suppose to hit here instead of Galveston, Texas. For some strange reason we haven't had a major hurricane hit straight on Corpus since Celia in 1970. This was before I was born. Even Bret in 1999 hit close but south of Corpus Christi, which is also what a lot of hurricanes do. This year of 2011 sure has been quite so far. In way it's a good
O_O! I would NOT have wanted to be there! Spine tingling! But at the same time, this is a VERY nice hotel! I would love to stay there someday. When there's not a hurricane anywhere nearby though. LOL :)
God damn! I rode out Ike here in Houston and I don't think I could have stood that kind of noise for as long as the storm went on. It was loud and windy... but it was not Satanic screaming wind thats for sure.
OMG!!!! That's hell a spooky! It give you a new respect for hurricanes and NOT try to ride them out. I'm close to the gulf coast and we were skirted by this...not near as bad as San Lois pass!!!
@kittykeeper41 I live in Florida an rode them out my whole life, but never have heard winds sound like this. Honestly this sounds more paranormal than normal weather >.<
@geddyleesangel101 Wow I think I woulda screamed or something if I were you. Though imagine if you played silent hill before this storm hit right before the power went out and started hearing all those sounds.
basically, its the wind coming through entrances on the roof and traveling through the air ducts, creating a suction force through the whole building. Its like a whistle from hell...
For those of you who think hurricane are fun and games they are not i witnessed this in Houston its not fun trust me it looks like it is but its not Trees falling around u windows rattling your garage shaking really hard
I was in Ike. About 80 miles south of where this was. After the power went out...sittiing there hearing the howls mixed with tree limbs creaking. Granted this video shows the heart of this beast. I was just at the outer edge. WoW
WHAT 5 DISLIKES HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU POSSIBLY DISLIKE THIS, WHAT IS THER TO DISLIKE, did the vidoe not satisfy your need for scary noises or something?!?
@SupaKillah666 lol. I can see it now. If we had a hurricantohuman translater it'll be yelling "MY.NAME'S.NOT.IKE!!!" But until that day all we can do is listen to the language of a pissed hurricane.

oh man ,if i was a kid again and the complex lost power,we would be playing monster laser tag in the complex, most fun game ever. everyone puts their lasers sensors on one person, that kids the monster and the team of 4 have to take out all sensors all over his body giving him that classic presence of a monster that can take multiple shots before it dies, actually took skill, he hunted us,if he touches you, your dead. i remember playing that in my friends apt complex during a storm, lots of fun.
I was in my house during that time in Houston ,trust me its fucking scary u here that and u know there a horrible storm outside and its silent.....my mom said she looked outside into the clouds and saw something that look in the clouds.....4 witches dancing and laughing....many of the people i know saw this and saw similar events in the sky during that time one of my friends saw a red huge cloud shining dimly in the sky its scary very scary experience....
